Black Friday thread: Shop Like a Beast!

How do you know that I don't??

Damn dude, stop assuming. You don't know anything about me.

If you saw I said unless you do that. Most anti consumerism and anti black Friday that I know only talk the talk but never actually walk it.

You didn't before. You edited your post.

I'm done.

Ah so buying **** is the answer for a happy Christmas? Maybe the holidays should be about more than buying overpriced (even with the supposed discount) stuff for kids.
To be fair, I'm not buying things for other people, I'm buying them for myself, and I plan on doing so without leaving my house, so ...

Does anyone know when Best Buy Black Friday deals start online? Looking to get a PS4 and that's the best offer.
Some deals have already started btw

Today only (Sunday)
Target and Target.com have 10% off all electronics with promo code TECH
(Target offers 1% back with Ebates, btw. And if you are a redcard member, you can get an additional 5% off the purchase)
Target PS4 Console Deals
i personally, would probably order online thru the ebates portal and do in-store pickup.

Middle class. But it doesn't make a difference. At least it shouldn't.

The thing that bothers me is that people feel like they need the stuff. It's like you can't be happy or teach your kid that they can't be happy unless they have what the rich have. It's the same kind of thing that pushes guys to buy diamond engagement rings. We're already riddled with debt. Getting an Xbox for $50 off won't make it better.

Plus having a huge discount day the day after Thanksgiving is ironic.

most businesses are closed the day after, which means a lot of people aren't working and are able to shop. Black Friday refers to the sales actually pushing companies into the black, instead of the red (as most know).
granted, i'm not a fan of the sitting-in-line-for-three-days-for-a-tv deal, but i do appreciate the fact that more stores are opening up their sales online and not opening so soon, plus i work night shifts, so this helps me a little. boo to stores actually opening on Thanksgiving

plus some stores like Best Buy start offering their deals earlier in the week to customers of different rewards Tiers. it's sort of a perk i suppose.

i'm not going to attack you I promise. Family first is what the holidays mean to me, even though some Christmases are some of my worst childhood memories (stories for another time). I too hate the consumer side of the holidays, but as a child who pretty much never got anything i wanted for Christmas, or much at all, i can kinda understand the point Kyle was trying to make about the psyche of kids and whatnot, i just think he came off completely wrong and accusatory more than anything. i hope that doesn't come off as me sounding entitled or spoiled as a child, i wasn't. my parents just came from a time where stuff like that didn't matter as much, and honestly, i dont think they had a clue what to get me lol. i appreciate it now as i am older, but as a kid sometimes it was hard listening to kids coming back and bragging about gifts they got.

To be fair, I'm not buying things for other people, I'm buying them for myself, and I plan on doing so without leaving my house, so ...

same. probably 80% me, 20% others.

* The Shallows bd - $11.49 (all on GC)

Best Buy
* Ghostbusters 2016 bd Steelbook - $9.99

Target
* Brooklyn bd - $6 (-5% Red Card and 10% Tech code = $5.xx)
* Mr. Deeds Goes to Washington bd - $13.59 (-5% Red Card and 10% Tech Code and $5GC = $7.32

Best Buy Early Access of Elite Members is Live.

Just ordered:

Me Before You
Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates
Mockingjay Pt. 2 Steelbook

minus $15 in rewards certs, total = $10.57

Oh I didn't realize that you knew my financial situation. My parents are immigrants and came to Canada with a couple thousand to their name and 2 kids. So tell me again how I don't know how "the other side" lives.

Also, the middle class is the most bogged down with debt. So maybe buying unnecessary stuff isn't the answer.

I find it funny that you think Black Friday benefits the lower class. It's not like advertising and the collective societal conscious tells you that you and your kids need this stuff to be happy. Black Friday takes advantage of that consumerism mindset. You're not good enough unless you have this stuff.

I'm done with this though. I don't want to debate with someone that makes assumptions like you.

I'm dirt broke and I agree. Ever since I stopped chasing "Stuff", my lower class ass has never been happier. It was stressful to always need the next thing. Comics and video games and its merchandise are OCD inducing and was destroying my quality of life. It's not about creativity and heart - it's about shoveling crap down our throats. Hoard, landfill, repeat, die.

That's one reason I enjoy BF/Cyber Monday is the slashed online prices. I don't have to battle crowds, especially when it comes to spending gift cards that I might have.

On the flip side, my wife saw some boots at a particular store during a BF sale several years ago. They were about 20% of usual retail, so she was tempted, but it was an in-store sale only at a store about 60 miles away. I decided to get them for her and even with the gas expenditure, the discount was still worth it. She not only appreciated the boots, she was thankful that I put in the time and effort to get her a present like that.

So while there will always be extreme examples of poor behavior on BF, it really isn't necessary to vilify it. There will always be people who misbehave in various ways at any kind of event.

Black Friday is scary as **** in some places. I've bothered to wait in line in the morning once. Every other time I've either in in several hours later or not bothered.

May just take it easy and try and get a new phone or something.

If anyone is looking for PSN games there's quite a few on sale for Black Friday.

Star Wars Battlefront Deluxe Edition is $18.19 and 12.99 if you have PS+. Just Cause 3 is 20.99 with the XL edition 29.57.

Here's the link.

There's also a 10% discount code for your purchase. I have about $47 in PSN money at the moment so I'll be seeing what I can get.

I'm picking up the Battlefront and Dragon Ball Xenoverse Complete Editions for about $30.

Ps4, but not looking forward to staying up past 3 am...

Are there people ****ing themselves out to be personal shoppers for people to earn extra holiday money?

I would not be surprised in the slightest.

I'd consider doing it but despite my neck of the woods being less 'Black Friday murdery' like some parts of North America, I have no car and no patience to stand in line for five hours in the cold. :p

Depends on the sale price. Last year they went like nuts but considering they've been out a while they probably won't go as fast this year. The new PS4s will probably go really fast though.

K. Cool. Thanks. Looking likely will order a PS4 then return it or cancel order (if I can) if I'm able to land the Best Buy offer. Really wish all stores could start at the same time. Best Buy starts at 2 am, others at 9 pm which basically means, I think, if I wait for Best Buy the other stores might be sold out by then if that doesn't work out. All stores should really just start at the same time.

Every other Friday is black Friday as far as I'm concerned. When I get paid I buy lots of stuff. Maybe next year BF will fall on a payday and I will partake from the comfort of my home ordering things online.

I only got two things on my radar, a new PC and a 65 inch 4K tv.

I only got two things on my radar, peace on Earth and good will towards men and women.
