Black Panther: Wakanda Forever General Discussion and Speculation Thread

I would want Glover having enough time for that rumored Lando-series

I absolutely do not want Donald Glover for Black Panther. It feels like a complete mismatch. He's too small, and I'm not entirely sure he could actually act the part out with effect. I've seen him atlanta and his recent stuff and he really seems to kind of sleep walk his way through whatever script he has. I'm a fan if Glover's but he is not a good fit for carrying Bosemans legacy imo.

I like Glover a lot, but not for this. Washington also looks a bit too small, IMO. But I could see it easier with him. However, I feel like BP should be imposing. Boseman might not have been huge, but he looked pretty big in the films. That’s partially why I think Hodge is a better fit. I could also possibly see Ricky Whittle in the role, though I’d rather have him as Silver Surfer.

Aldis Hodge is definitely my top contender, given his size, appearance, age and range of capabilities. Obviously they'd probably want someone who can make the transition easier. Glover is too small and kind of just not right.

Aldis is only like 30 something so he can play the part for a long time if Marvel wants to go that route. And I would like to see T’Challa with Storm in the future.

After absorbing Chadwick Boseman's death and looking at how his costars, other Hollywood players, and fans have reacted to his life and his death, I truly feel that a recast would be the best route to take. I feel this way selfishly, within the context of the MCU, and within the context of Marvel/Disney's business. Others have noted the importance of the character of Black Panther/T'Challa and the effect he (and the other characters) had on many people. I just can't see it working out well if they just stopped using the character/passing the mantle to someone else.

Ironically the actor that came to my mind just got cast as Kang...

And yes I felt guilty for the thought crossing my mind.

It's crazy how we live in a world where we have a black panther film franchise and many fans are praying the next black panther film will actually have the lead character the mythology is based on to be in it.

It's a bit of a waste of a role playing Hawkman when anyone can play that. He'd be better off as Black Panther.

I still won't rule him out as BP unless DC wants to build around Hawkman.

But I was thinking about this role the other day. And if they wanted more time to figure out what to do with T'challa and don't want to jump right into shuri taking over. What they could do is tell a story set in the past with a really young T'chaka. Maybe set it in the civil rights era 60's, it can even serve as a key in the kang plot theyre cooking up.

I like Hodge but there are still other good actors that could play T'Challa.

Guys like David Ajala or Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù would be great in in the role. Young enough to play the role for years and their Nigerian backgrounds could come in handy.

Sope was kick ass in Gangs Of London.

David Ajala is actually a good friend of mine. I'm actually drinking tea from the wedding mug he and his wife got me for my wedding. I see his brother more often than I see David so I'm definitely going to pass on the suggestion.

Hello!

Chadwick is one of the GOATs but I'm strongly on the bandwagon of recasting T'Challa and continuing the story. Chad didn't invest all his precious remaining time and energy into BP just to have the character shelved. Plus the MCU likely isn't rebooting anytime soon... so shelve the character now and who knows how long til we see T'Challa again.

Aldis Hodge would've been a good choice. I also like Trevante Rhodes; same height as Chad, has that similar "look", but is over a decade younger. Not quite the actor Chad is (but Chad was elite), however I think he could grow into the role.

If Aldis Hodge changed his name to Aldis Hawkman and then changed quite a few letters, he'd be pretty much an exact facsimile of the name Chadwick Boseman.

Uhh I wanted Aldis Hodge for T’Challa not Hawkman, but I support Marvel & DC movies featuring the best talent.
I would have been fine with him as Black Panther, but I’m still very interested to see how he does as Hawkman.

Hollywood Reporter is very reliable
