I know it sounds a bit off at first...but I think it would be cool to incorporate the GCPD blimps from the animated series, *or something similar*, to TDKR. Afterall, the Narrows probably still need constant monitoring and with the official manhunt for Batman underway some sort of monitoring tools would seem reasonable. Plus it could make for some amazing action sequences later on.

This is one of the things I'd love to see in these films.

Not just the GCPD blimps but one getting hijacked by a villain and used as part of a crime of plot would be even nicer (Scarecrow used one in his first TAS episode if I remember right). The imagery inherent in this idea would be stunning on the big screen but then I'm not writing the film so I'll shut up haha

The only negative I see is that same old complaint: "it's not realistic" and "won't fit in Nolan's universe". Well they still use sports blimps at big stadium events don't they? So it might not be completely out of the realm of possibilities.

Anyway, I'd love to see at least one get included.

I concur. Gotham needs to look more fantastical than it did in TDK. I'm still a little baffled why they couldnt input smal parts of the monorail in the background, I know it got destroyed in BB but not the whole rail!
So... yeah, monorail, blimps and gargoyles!

I wanted to start a topic, or at least put that in a What do you want to see in TDKR, but Ithought I would be taken to the cleaners.
Patrol blimps would be awesome, and I thought that they could really fit in with the Nolan feel of the films.
There is this pic that Jim Lee drew of bats, robin and babs on a roof with blimp in the background, it looks awesome.

I would personally like to see something like that, but I just don't see Nolan doing that. :(

"Oh no! It's heading right for the water hub...slowy".

I agree i can't see him doing it, but man i would be crazy happy if he did.

He seems to enjoy using helicopters. I don't think we'll see the blimps.

They did actually, it's in the background of some wide shots of the city.

I don't know why they'd populate the city with blimps now unless the story called for it, which honestly why would it?

^they did? I watch the film about 1/month and havent seen it... I guess I just got an excuse to watch it again then :P

And to go somewwhat OnTopic: How much are blimps used nowadays in the us anyways? I mean besides advertising during mlb and such?

In Nolan's universe I can't see the blimps being used. Too big, slow and conspicuous. If he were to go the eye in the sky route he may use UAVs.

The blimps in the animated series were awesome, as were the cars.

I can only dream that they will be included in a Batman film someday.

Same, Boom. Haha wow I've had your quote in my sig for years! But I digress...

Blimps? In a 21st century conetmporary take on a modern American city Gotham has presented to be in the first two films? Uhhh yea ... no thanks.

How about if Nolan had on Led Zeppelin? That would rock! :p

You apparently didn't see the item located within the asterix, which I will repeat here, *or something similar*. Besides...modern American cities have modern American budget restraints. And since when is Gotham a modern American city, anyways? It's a modern American extreme, cupcake. It's a work of fiction. How is a modern American city supposed to catch a Ninja?

Most of the wide city shots in TDK are with IMAX cameras. In order for him to insert monorails, he would have to input to the footage at about 8K resolution and would have export it at 8K. Most CGI is converted into 2K or sometimes 4K, 2K is still more resolution than what a blue-ray can output.

It is costly, and I think Nolan and Wally believe that the digital regurgitation of these IMAX shots diffuse the natual chemical image quality inbeded in the IMAX stock. Though of course he doesn't always shy away from the process, you'll notice the only time we actually see the monorail in TDK are when there is already need for CGI additional buildings in making Gotham appear larger than Chicago.

I agree about the Zeplins, I would kill to see them in Nolan's Gotham. As long as they look as good or better than the ones in Blade Runner (sans the advertisements).
