Playstation Bloodborne

it's sold a little over 700K in the U.S, maybe it can make it to 3M worldwide

Echoes don't really matter that much do they? It's very easy to farm them if you need to it seems to me.
It depends on how you play, but once you get to a certain level, it becomes a concern. You are hording hundreds of thousands of echoes, with no where to put them. You can't farm 90,000 echoes in an area until late in the game. Before that, you have to farm a very specific area which yields about 25,000 I believe. Unless you want to spend a lot of hours getting small amounts.

Eh, I can see that more so I guess, but on the other hand, nothing is really stopping you from exploring just because there is a save point before the boss, especially if the level itself is fairly large.
No, nothing is stopping you from exploring. It simply encourages it. Because of the need for the shortcut, you are almost forced to find them. If you don't, you have to walk all the way back around. The Souls series are basically 3D Metroidvania games.

A lot of the principles in the Souls series are there to punish you the way old school games did. Like how you needed the cheat to play Contra. It is why they revel in the difficulty. It is suppose to be a pain in the backside.

I understand your point in this, and there is more then one time where I wished I didn't have to travel back for a boss fight. I can't say you are wrong, this really this is a personal preference thing. It would definitely be convenient. But I guess I also accept that I am playing a Souls game.

I'd be interested in seeing future DLC have movable save points/lanterns.
Dark Souls 3 seems to be the love child of Demon Souls, Dark Souls and Bloodborne. I wouldn't expect it in the next game.

Bought the game and the DLC. Playing it now.

Love it just as much as I thought I would. :D

Very out of practice from playing Dark Souls though.

Might I suggest trying the whip? I played through practically the entire game with it. I loved it. Made the game feel like the awesome 3D Castlevania we never got.

I'm playing with the saw right now. Might try the whip later.

From what I've seen online, Skill makes you faster? I've never been much for tanking things. I always prefer to duck, dive and smack them in the ass before running like a baby.

Worked so far on Father Gastly-whatever-his-name-is and the Cleric Beast. Cleric beast took me two tries to beat.

Quick question about the chalice dungeons: How the hell does it all work? I've got a few chalices and ran through a few of them. Got more and hit a boss shaped wall that I'll be skipping for a bit. I want to get a Plat on it since I'm really enjoyjng it and doesn't seem that difficult (beyond the obvious of course) and apparently 'beating' the dungeons is one of the trophies.

Gonna have to be a bit more specific on how it works. Chalice dungeons start off easy because the first few are for lower levels and get progressively difficult. The regular chalices are set in design and eventually ends at the Great Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice (completing that one gets you the achievement) but the root chalices are randomized and one can use items to add extra difficulty to them. Chalice dungeons are pretty much the place to get the best blood gems in the game (the more difficult the better the gems), weapons with different gem slots, even my favorite weapon in the game, the Beast Claw, as well to provide some good challenge.

So is level 111 a tad high to beat the game with? :p It reminds me of the first time I beat Dark Souls. I was around level 120.

I did a bit of save scumming to get all three endings since I already had four thirds of the umbilical cord and didn't want to have to go through it again unless I want to. I beat Gherman on my first try and the Moon Presence took me a few tries since it stopped me from healing constantly. Just need to get to and beat the Queen to get a Plat. Easier said than done, I'm sure.

I have a copy of my pre-Gherman fight save so I can finish the DLC. Already beat Ludwig and I'm most of the way through the clock tower.

All in all, love the game. Everything I was hoping for. :D

Started playing this again and I finally made friends with Old Hunter Djura in Old Yharnam. The guy with the minigun. As long as I don't attack him, the monsters or his buddy below, he won't try to kill me. I did lure a monster up to him and had it fall to it's death but that didn't count since I didn't hit it.

For some reason that makes me strangely happy that I made a friend in BB. :D

I bought this when it went on sale digitally around Christmas. I'd already owned it when I bought my PS4 initially, but traded it in due to the high difficulty. For $7 I decided it was worth giving another go. I'm really glad I buckled down and committed myself to figuring out the game and the combat loop. I'm so addicted to it now. I totally get the high people talk about when you take down a particularly difficult enemy.

I attacked the hunter after I made friends with Djura. I didn't think he'd be upset since I wasn't attacking any beast.

By the way, did you guys get the PS4 theme for getting the Platinum trophy? I was so happy when I did.
I wish more games would reward you like that.

What made you want to try it again?

I love love love love the art and design of everything. The world is so amazing and viscerally gorgeous. I wanted to see more of the world and environments which meant I had to get good at the game. So I did.

Dark Souls has some pretty art too.

Yeah I like Dark Souls visuals as well, but rumors of a Nintendo Switch port has me waiting to see. Otherwise I'd pick up DS3 on my PS4.

So I'm in the Cathedral Ward and I opened up a shortcut gate after a fair bit of work. I found a glowy red bit on the ground and it summoned someone to my game world that was helping out. I didn't know this would also spawn an adversary which proceeded to stomp my ass in. Once I respawned I found my shortcut gate was closed. Is that supposed to happen? I'm extremely annoyed by that.

I think if you die you lose your progress including shortcuts. Cause this game likes to stick red hot needles in your urethra. Metaphorically speaking. :o

No. That's really odd.
Once you open a gate it's always open regardless of when or if you die.

Any chance you stumbled upon a different gate? Or that the adversary used the lever and closed the gate? I don't think that's even possible, though. I never played online.

Nope. Same gate I've been going through back and forth a whole bunch was closed upon respawn. Had to fight my way all the way around again to open up the shortcut again. I'm assuming it was a glitch. Anyway, going forward I'm playing offline only.

I'm still missing the Queen trophy to get the Platinum. :cmad: I just need that and the DLC weapons one and I've got them all.

I really want to Plat this and get 100%. :(

The good thing about the dungeons to me was how much they reward you with bloodechoes. Some rooms in later chalices would give me nearly 300000+ echoes. I went from level 105 to 154. So it was worth getting that Queen trophy.

The bad thing is that I was overleveled. Fighting Gehrman and the Moon Presence wasn't as satisfying as it should have been.
