Dark Souls - Prepare to die.

I'm looking forward to the DLC as well. I still haven't finished the main game though.

Ah, kay. I really like that environment.

It's actually a fairly advantageous position to be in, not finishing the game. The DLC should come as a natural extension to the whole experience. The idea of getting back into the game for another 8 hour experience is a little weird.

Anyone planning to get this on PC? Cause I'm thinking about it and it would be nice to have people to play this with. That is if they included some proper matchmaking for co-op play. I heard co-op in this game is kinda random?

Fixed in what way? The online is very different from typical online (you can't really choose who you get to interact with). I have never had a problem summoning people, finding notes, or being invaded in my PS3 copy.

Yeah, I never did either. I think the MP in these games is excellent and creative given it's not your usual co-op and competitive join a room set-up. In fact, being summoned as a boss in someone else's game in Demon's Souls is still one of my favorite things that happened MP wise this gen.

I'm late to the party, but have too many RPG's on my plate, and jumping back and forth a lot ATM. Loving it though. I just finished the Gargoyles, and Capra Demon (which was a pain in the ass until I learned the trick...which can be said for most bosses I guess). I stopped right as I entered Blight Town, taking a break while I mess with Dragon's Dogma.

Jesus christ I am literally terrified of all of those new enemies.

(Including pooh)

Pooh's not that bad. You just have to stand in front of the honey pot, and dive out of the way as he charges you. He rams his head in the honey pot, then you slash at the back of his skull while he's stuck. The only time he gives me trouble is when he starts shouting, "Oh bother!" and shakes around like he's having a seizure, going on a murderous bee throwing rampage.

Edit - The glowing aura enemies are really creepy though. Demon's and Dark both have this atmosphere to them that makes a lot of survival horror games look pathetic. I think I finally put my finger on it, it's despair. The enemies can look freaky, or frightening, but I think it's more of the idea that it's a hopeless battle (even if you can win, you get that vibe). Out of all the gaming world's, I think I'd want to live there the least. You prevent a demon spreading fog from overtaking the planet, where demon's eat human souls, and you're stuck in a ground hogs day loop of death and rebirth. Then when things return to normal it's...this, heh. Atlus must really hate it's NPC civillian population.

I just finished Demon Ruins. On to The Great Hollow.

You really hit the nail on the head, especially the bolded part. The Souls games have this great bleak, melancholy atmosphere that I love. Though I think it's significantly more prominent in Demon's Souls which is one of the reasons I like it better than Dark Souls. Also, Demon's Souls could be very creepy at times. Dark Souls is more "weird" than "creepy".

I got to a place called Ash Lake, and made it to the other side whilst being chased by a giant hydra thing only to discover the whole area is a dead end. :/

I'm trying to make my way back up through The Hollow now.

Also I'm cursed.

It's not a dead-end! Keep going you'll find a warp-location bonfire and a big dragon which will let you can join the "Path of the Dragon" covenant.

Unless you didn't go through Anor Londo yet... in which case, yeah, it is a dead-end, and you should really head up to Anor Londo.

I haven't been to Anor Londo yet. At least I don't think so. Where is it?

Also, I'm a Sunbro.

Edit: I literally just got to Anor Londo.

I defeated the Iron Golem with half health and an empty flask by the way. :D

Good luck, Anor Londo has probably the hardest boss in the game, and one very specific cheap shot along the way.

Yeah, there is nothing more stressful or rewarding than running of health in a Dark Souls fight.

I took some crappy pictures of my awesome dude just because.

Broke down and bought used copies of Demon Souls and Dark Souls. I hope I can keep myself from breaking any controllers.

It's really not that hard. Just remember to take it slow and never get greedy or impatient.

Welp...I was running around in Anor Londo and got invaded. The guy managed to get around behind me and stab me in the back. I could tell he was surprised and maybe even a little scared when I got back up with almost two thirds of my health remaining and whacked him as hard as I could with my halberd because he immediately ran away. Like the ***** was literally running away from me. So of course I chased him.

When I caught up to him he was hiding behind Solaire, my NPC co-op buddy. Does his cowardice know no limits? I tried to get at him, poking here and there with my spear, but he was too good at using Solaire as a shield. I didn't want to hit my sunbro, so I resigned myself to death....but then he started shooting poison arrows at me, and something about this just rubbed me wrong. I threw caution to the wind and attacked him. Of course I accidentally hit Solaire. So at this point I'm trying to kill this son of a ***** while simultaneously trying to avoid the attacks of my former buddy. I didn't want to risk the death of Solaire so for the second time I stood down and allowed the invader to kill me. In the end it was Solaire that got the final blow.

My hope was that when I respawned Solaire would be reset and back to normal. Nope. As soon as I got back in the game he was attacking me as viciously as ever. I tried to avoid him, outrun him, but he was relentless in his pursuit. I simply couldn't handle Solaire and whatever enemies awaited me in Anor Londo, so I had to make a tough decision. It was him or me. I had to kill Solaire if I wanted to progress any further.

It wasn't a long battle, or a tough one, but I hated every bitter second of it. I'm pretty sure I've been cast out of the Warriors of Sunlight, which also means my name has been written down in the Book of the Guilty. I guess it's only matter of time until the Darkmoon Covenant begins hunting me. Until then though, I've pledged to wear Solaire's armor to honor his memory.

Such is the majesty of this game :D

I love how unique the online encounters can be like that, even if that one guy was a total *****. I remember once running into an invader at the other end of a hall area in the ruins. We caught sight of each other and paused for about 10 seconds before we both bowed and ran at each other.

(I kicked the crap out of him).

Still, that means you'll have to wait for playthrough #2 for some of the benefits for the Warrirors of Sunlight.

My favorite fight was pretty epic. It lasted for what felt like at least half an hour. It started in that big room with the Titanite Demon in the Undead Parish. We battled our way out of there and through Darkroot Basin. For some reason the Ents were only attacking me and completely ignoring him while he was shooting arrows at me. I eventually put a stop to that and we made our way down the cliffs, trying desperately to kick each other off the ledge. Long story short, our battle culminated by the lake, dodging the Hydra shooting...whatever it is he shoots.

Not that you would have been able to make it, but there is a way to un-aggro NPCs. The creepy dude with his arm stretched out in the bell tower can absolve you of your sins for a price. Just an fyi in case you get in the situation again.
