Blu-ray release confirmed!

no, i thought what you said a few posts ago was hilarious!

and yeah something new would be great!

i hope part of what they include in xmen 1 will be a longer storm/toad fight! in the extras and stuff you see all this fighting choreograpghy that didnt make it into the movie, and its not all just her getting her assed kicked. its her like throwing in a punch and kick. and also her getting thrown (again) over a counter (or something). i think that would help make her a little cooler in that movie. she was so blah and just there in the first one.

so glad i just thought about this today and found the only thread in X2 is about the bluray releases. Sweet :D

I'll buy them if I can get them in a boxed set.

Otherwise, I'll just purchase X2.

True but with studios putting more content in Blu-ray compared to regular dvd's one can't fault anyone for opting to go with Blu-ray. That said, if you're gonna get a blu-ray player...might as well buy the Hi def tv as well...easier said than done though for many people

thats what i was thinking as well.......

So, do we take it that the movies themselves are as originally theatrically released?

Wouildn't this be an ideal chance to extend them, tidy up FX...and fix the imperfections (like the bee crawling on Jackman in X3, the day-to-night transition in X3, etc)?

X3's already been out on DVD once, surely it has to be a different version to justify a second release?

I didnt even know about the bee on Wolverine...Which scene was that?

That's hilarious!

^ The scene in which Wolverine is standing at Xavier's grave.

If anything, the Blu-ray release may contain a better transfer of The Last Stand, but I doubt the studio is going to waste money on removing something as inconsequential as a bee on Jackman's shoulder. Has a studio ever needed a good reason to double dip? There have been multiple versions of X2 released with no difference save for the packaging. There are even later versions that contain less features than before. I'm not expecting anything aside from the X-Men Origins: Wolverine footage and special features that weren't featured in the Region 1 release but were featured elsewhere.

Here are the official specs straight from Fox. It seems as if they are going out to provide excellent packages for these films. Not only that but most of the extras will be in HD so thats great news. Also there will be an actual boxset with the trilogy. Thats the version Im going to be getting

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced the technical specs and special features for the upcoming Blu-ray releases of 'X-Men', 'X2: X-Men United', and 'X3: The Last Stand', which are due to hit store shelves on April 21st, both individually and as a 'X-Men Trilogy' box set. Video for these releases will be presented in 1080p AVC accompanied by 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtracks.

Each film will come as a three-disc set, featuring the film and extras spread across the first two Blu-ray disc, and a third DVD containing a digital copy of the film for portable video devices.

It looks like those were in the DVD release. BTW, here are the covers

I think they overdid them with Wolverine taking up the majority of the space

yeah, just like the movies! so why is rogue not in the orignal's cover? hello! lead actress!

im not really impressed with the deleted scenes for x3.

are the deleted scenes not being cut into the movie? extended versions of the movies would be a thousand times more appealing to me than just watching the deleted scenes that i wish made it into the movies! lol

Well sometimes deleted scenes dont make sense incontext to what else is in the film or they contradict something bc things have been rewritten and changed. Ive never seen these so I dont know if they would apply to X3, but the alternate endings definetly would. I dont think we'll know till the movie is released but considering they are on the same disc, the deleted scenes might be optional as extended cuts of the main film

Thanks for the info. Haha. Gee, I wonder who they're trying to promote? Also, it looks like another picture of Wolverine from The Last Stand is replacing a picture of Wolverine from X2. The covers aren't bad, but it wouldn't hurt to include more of the X-Men in them.

well on disc one of the xmen reissue it already has a scene in it that says (extended scene/optional commentary)

so does that mean that one is the only one added specifically to the movies?

and also the extra scenes for xmen 2 are on a different disc......

is nice to see new covers... but in my opinion, they are badly done.

Not a fan of the covers as well.

They should have tried to fit most of the main cast on the X-men Trilogy cover...it's very weird that X-men and X-men trilogy have the same format (wolverine, storm, mags, x), x2 have its own concept and x3 have most of the main cast...

I think if they really needed Storm to be on the covers of X-men and trilogy they should have had Halle BEHIND Magneto and Xavier. But i think they were trying to compromise...having Hugh be the largest figure and having Halle be the one in the middle of the cover art. Nice try! LOL

I also agree that Rogue should've been on the cover of X-men, even with her hooded look...it would've set it apart from other "looks"

And Hugh looks very awkward in that X-men: The Last Stand cover...I still remember that poorly-conceptualized Premiere Magazine cover...

As much as i am a big fan of this franchise...I really think they dropped the ball on the looks of the DVD even from the start..

The covers make it obvious this release is simply to promote the Wolverine movie coming out a week later. Oh well, my dreams of new cuts of the films is dashed yet again. :csad:

lol the only good thing about those covers is that the first 2 x-men movies say "a Bryan Singer Film" and the third one doesnt mention Ratner.

haha! i didnt notice that! thats so a smack to ratner's sorry face!

the covers annoy me, it makes it look like its not about the damn characters its about the actors involved

sadly i kinda given up on the X-men franchise because of that :(

on another note

X-2 Deleted Scenes
  • Professor X and Cyclops Escape
  • Arriving to an Empty School

i wonder what thats about?

it's on teh regular dvd too. Its when Jason gives the illusion that Xavier and Cyclops escape Alkali and arrive to an empty school to use Cerebro.

Yeah, I don't like them either. Hopefully other countries will have different art...
