The Dark Knight BOF: BAT 2 Update

how so.... all that card was, was a throw out to fans, they didn't even know at the time if they would be making a sequel, do you honestly think that they are going to show flashbacks during the first half of the movie, it said we won't see the joker until half way through.......

also, many famous or well known homocidal maniacs left "calling cards" on many of their victims.... Jack (or whatever his name is in this movie) will most likely do the same, marking his territory, trying to make a name for himself.... plus don't you think if he was the Joker at the beginning, that would have meant he was the Joker at Arkham when BB took place... so I think the police would be well aware who was leaving "joker" cards everywhere, Gordon wouldn't have said "this guy" at the end of BB, he would have said, something like "this guy who calls himself the Joker"....
Don't you think it's a bit coincidental that a guy who loves the joker card and kills people will happen to fall in a pit of chemicals that makes him look like an evil clown?

one or the other I could see. Either he likes "joker" and the chemicals make in a homicidal psycho or he's already a psycho and the chemicals make him a joker.

^ I doubt it will be the main focus of the film, more of a side plot that evolves throughout the film.....

I hope that it's not just Joker is the story, I don't want another Joker 89 movie.
The report did say there will be more.

jack Napier in the 1989 one saw a Joker card in his hat right before he was btrayed and turned into the Joker.... I could see it as some type of sick irony that happens...... who know's, maybe dude is obsessed with Clowns, and all his victims, he cuts smiles into there face and bleaches their skin..... he ends up doing it to one of Thornes or whoever the mob guy is, Son... the mob gets back at him, and does the same to the Joker, turning him into one of his creations, who knows, I just doubt that his story will be told through flashbacks....

If Nolan does in flashback then would ber very different to Batman 89.

yes, but I'm getting sick of hearing "he want's no simularities between the two franchises"......no matter what, there are going to be slight simularities, I hope he doesn't change what could be a great story, because it might be a little close to what we've scene before....

I guess it might be able to work. Some sick obsession with jokers/clowns that he had before the accident subconciously triggered his insanity...

I dunno. *shrug*

It could be multiple choice backstory ala Killing Joke. Like Batman finds all kinds of clues that point to all kinds of origins and stuff like that.
I like that idea.

I love that idea

but this news seems to point away from it

And there's your detective work:up:

would be "ok" as long as the true origin is finally discovered or told..... I can just hear people know, complaining if his origin is never fully told....

The joker is THE VILLIAN of all time, IMO, he's not like the scarecrow, where we don't need a backstory, Ra's backstory was hand in hand with the league of shadows, so that was expained enough for the movie, but come on, this is the Joker, we need to be completely pulled in by this character, I actually want to go to the movies, and fear what I see on screen, he has to be truely insane, truely homocidal.....

you're kidding. not explaining the joker's bg is AWESOME. if it's a lie, that's even better.

As rumored and expected, The Joker is going to be nothing like Nicholson’s version from B89.

Thank You Mr. Nolan. There's no need to recreate the wheel. You can be crazy but not over the top maybe more sadistic.

Expect to see a back story for The Joker and we shouldn’t expect to see him until the middle of the film.

Think "The killing Joke" which I got NO PROBLEM with.

The Joker will not be the only villain in the film. “

Penguin, Rupert thorne and a Pre-2 face Harvey Dent.

“Heath Ledger is perfect for the role as he has never played this kind of part before which is what Nolan was after. Think about it -- if you see Sam Rockwell or Robin Williams or even Hugo Weaving, you’d know exactly how they would play the role before even seeing the film and that’s not very intriguing for fans is it? I have a feeling Paul Bettany was out of the mix after his performance in The Da Vinci Code.”

Smart and unpredictable on Nolan's part. This might just work.

“From what I’ve heard about the direction of the film expect The Joker to be very creepy and very extreme.”

Creepy is good. I want to see a Joker that I hate, not laugh at his antics. and The Joker always extreme .

“Whatever you’ve heard about titles for the film -- pay no attention as the title will most likely not be known until they’ve finished shooting.”

Thank Goodness. I'm terrified it'll be called "Batman Escalation". UGH!

I want the Joker's past expalined, he's not a throw away villain, if we are going to see him in two films, they need to explain the character, not the way Batman was exlpained in BB, but a decent story for the Joker..

I could almost see Btman discovering the Jokers past, discovering something twisted and sickening, and Batman uses that to defeat the Joker....

There's a reason he's called the Joker though. It's cuz he's over the top.

I'd prefer multiple uncertain backstories

Maybe Scarecrow? Falcone?
Thorne

He'd better be flashy. Dress nice.

You said it. Thank Goodness. The only good one is Batman II, and that's not even that good.

Great, that´s what people need to keep in mind, Nolan thinks out of the box. He´s right,we seen a guy play a psycho before, it´s likely he´ll play another psycho in a similar way. You pick an actor who has the chops for it but hasn´t played that role before, he´ll surprise you.

A backstory for the Joker is okay, as long as he´s not the star of the movie, which I don´t think he will be. And remember, there will be other villains.

Creepy and extreme, yeah, there wouldn´t be much of a point in making him as clownesque as in 89.

That works. But I like the origins remaining a mystery. That'd be part of WHY he's such a vex

The Joker NEEDS some sort of a backstory. If there was just some guy with chalk-white skin and green hair going around gassing people with no explanation as to why, don't you think the audience is going to be a little confused? Half of them (the ones who still think the new Batman series is part of the Burton-Shcumacher series) will be saying, "wait, I thought the Joker died," and the rest of them will be like, "How the hell did he get that way?"

well the action is begining to heat up..you know i think filming will start sooner than we think.

exactly, he just can't be the Joker... even some of my friends are like "hey, did you hear they are remaking the 1989 Batman film, so Batman Begins fits better with the original series", many people still don't get that Batman Begins was a restart, trust me, there are many people who think that, MTV for instance, Batman Begins 2 needs to tell the story so people relize it's a different story, if it's just some guy who is already green haired pale skin, they are going to think what happened in the 1989 version, is what happened here....

That's a lame excuse. The Nolans know how to structure a story without confusing people.

I request that you slap them repeatedly with cucumbers and other assorted fruits

alot of people were confused.... I know you really can't market a film as a "restart", I know it was implied, but I remember people telling me "why did they change it, didn't the joker kill batman's parents".... he needs to sperate the films more, and having a great story for the joker is what wil do it...

I move away from people like that, I just say go read a comic or pick up BB DVD if you still don't understand what Batman is about Like I said, I move away.

Yup......I.N.W.T.

Now I want to know who they are looking at for Dent.
