New from BOF:-

Sunday, November 5, 2006 - 6:31 AM: Hey ya'll, Jett here. With production of TDK in lockdown mode for a while now, news and scuttlebutt has been few and far between of late. But a FOBOF ("Friend of BATMAN ON FILM") that I've known for a few years sent the following the other day:

"Hey man! I thought I'd pass along a rumour I heard the other day from a colleague at lunch. We were discussing casting talk around town and he brought up THE DARK KNIGHT. So we’re chatting and he tells me he heard Ethan Hawke may be up for a role in the film. Naturally, I asked him ‘What part?’ He says ‘A lawyer, I think.’ I figure ‘A lawyer’ is Harvey Dent, perhaps? I’ve got nothing to back up his claim, but I figured I’d pass it along to you anyway. Keep up the great work!"

I guess we can add him to "The Dent List" that includes Josh Lucas, Liev Schreiber, Jake Gyllenhaal, etc., etc. Anyway, dude's almost 36 and a pretty good actor, so I'd be OK with Hawke as Dent. But remember BOF'ers, this is JUST A RUMOR. Hawke as Dent, Hmmm....

Newer name, could work too (think Gattaca, Taking Lives and the 'tougher' Assault on Precinct 13, Training Day).

i agree he's a good actor but i cant think of those films when imagining he's dent.

He'd be good, I think.

Good actor but he's never crossed my mind as Dent.I wouldn't be against this choice.
Only thing is there might be a problem with is height but theres nothing a little camera tricky and movie magic can't solve these days.So i guess it won't make a real big difference.

This is good news if true, he's good actor.

I wouldn´t have a problem with him.

oooo...Ethan Hawke...me likey!!!

Great actor. Great for Dent

He's a strong actor, and he could pull off the role. Hawke is a good addition to the rumor mill.

Wouldn't have thought of him, but I'd be good with that choice.

Well, I like Hawke for the role a heck of a lot better than Phillippe. I wouldn't mind him. But I would still prefer Schreiber or DiCaprio.

Ethan Hawke would be an excellent choice. Very inspired. Like Ledger hes someone who fits, yet you'd never have thought of him..nice.

I'll take him over Phillippe any day. He's a good actor, I think he has the range to pull it off. Only thing I'd change about him is his size, bulk him up a little. A lot of times he has this "meek" look to him.

Would be less shocking to me than the casting of Ledger, which I still as of yet do not understand the decision behind.

One of the dangers with acronyms is that they can become embarrassing when the arrangement is such that certain letters can be replaced with different words resulting in a meaning diametrically opposed to the one intended.

While he's a fine actor and all of that good stuff, but he's a fine actor who looks a lot like Bale (IMO, at least); I would think that would be rather confusing visually on film.

This guy really doesn't look like harvey... but he can pull it off... not my number one choice though

I think he would be good choice, but I don't think he has anything close to TDK (I lost faith in BOF).

I can't wait for nolan to come way out of left field again

actually i think one of my personal favorites for the role would be ed norton. i figure he's been rumored before or had his name tossed about. he does dark/light so well.

Well, quite honestly, that kind of makes him even more fit for the role. Dent was a character in the comics that became one of the first suspects of being Batman himself, before he went downhill and turned into Two-Face. Having an actor that looks like the man who plays Batman could be more traditional, in a sense, following that element of Year One. And while I understand your concern, it may or may not be a problem given how Hawke's look would be portrayed in the film. (Hairstyles, physiques, makeup, ect.)

Hawke is a good actor, definatley. I wouldn't mind him. The only thing that I question is whether or not he could pull off the Two-Face role, in the sequel. But I've seen very little of Hawke's work.
