The Dark Knight New name for Dent (YES, NEW!)

there's no way Marky Mark is gonna take a bit part in a comic book movie, he's A-list again since the departed, so it'd be a real step back for him to play Bullock or someone similar in TDK

If anything, they'd combine the Flass and Bullock characters into one, fat, super cop. Going from a crooked cop to maybe becoming a decent guy. But I really can't see them bringing in another character that too closely resembles the current incarnation of Flass.

A-List actors took small roles in BB; well, maybe not "small," but less screen time.

Besides, Bullock could turn out to be a bigger role than we expect.

This isn't TAS Bullock; this will be Nolan's Bullock.

For all we know, Bullock could play an huge part in TDK, and further films; he just might, or might not, have a lot of screen time.

What A listers took small roles ? Neeson,Freeman,Caine,Oldman etc are respected actors who often play in ensembles or support roles, none of them are big movie headliners

While Freeman, Caine and Oldman are obviously A-list actors, their careers are pretty much safe, so they can afford to take smaller roles if they feel like it, however for younger actors like Wahlberg who haven't quite cemented their status it's important to keep their profiles as high as possible, and I find it unlikely that Bullock will be scene-stealingly well written in TDK. For example, even Gordon was somewhat of a non-entity role-wise in BB. Oldman wasn't really given much to do besides be the good guy, nothing memorable or interesting really

Exactly.

Not to mention the fact that Bullock, in the comics, was crooked when they introduced him, and was put in place by the mob to replace Jim Gordon.

In the end Bullock turned against the Mob and helped Gordon clean house.

I can see them doing that basic story with Flass.

I said less screen time as well.

One can agree that a Freeman, or Neeson, etc, might've asked, and/or wanted, for more screen time.

I'm not saying the roles were less important, they weren't. If fact, they were the opposite, they were huge roles for BB.

But the posters refers to Bullock as a small, unimportant (my words) role, and I merely pointed out that Bullock could be a small, or large role and an A-Lister could want to play that role in a Nolan film.

Again, Nolan is known for his character analysis. Said, non-cememted actors might want to play a role in a great film with great actors just to do it.

I remember when the cast of Ocenan's Eleven were asked about salary, and some of the younger, non-cememted guys spoke up and said "how could we pass of this" (paraphrased) in reference to Clooney, Pitt, Roberts, etc.

A non-cememnted actors very well might want to be in a movie where he, or she, might not have loads of screen-time, but for the experience and resume.

it's Chris Nolan, not Scorsese. Despite the love he gets around here he doesn't quite have that much pull as far as A-listers banging on his door wanting to work with him

Neither did Scorsese back in the day.

Who's to say what will come in a few years.

That's something different entirely, Pitt Clooney and Roberts are part of that Hollywood royalty thing, everyone wants them for everything, so it's true that unknown actors would want to work with them. But it's not the same to say that Mark Wahlberg, who is an oscar nominated actor, would take quite a small role just to work with actors more or less on a par with him (Bale/Ledger) who have much larger roles, and actors who are past their prime as "movie stars" if you will. I really don't see it happening

I cleary posted something about a resume.

A resume does involve future employers.

excuse me if I find it hard to believe that in 20 years mark Wahlberg could get a role on the strength of once working with Chris Nolan. I don't think that's how it works. It's about getting up that ladder and staying on top, not "Building a solid resumé", that's really only important to us ordinary people who have to go to interviews and actually type up resumés

I saw "New name for Dent" and I was thinking "Please don't be another jab at the Cabulerez Heir thing"

We all have our opinions.

Good times, though.

Wait a sec - Nolan isn't an acclaimed and respected director?

Oh, woe! How I have been fooled.

Seriously, the Nolan-bashers and their 'interesting' TRUFAX just hit a new low. What's next? Bale isn't a good actor? Jonah is TEH HAX?

Everyone is intitled to their own opinion, Miranda.

It wouldn't surpirse me, however, if someone did say Bale is a horrible actor.

I wasn't arguing with that - I just love now the bashers opinion is also, according to them, the ultimate truthiness.

I've seen someone say that. And they were being serious.

Ah well, as you said, people are entitled to think that. ;)

We can be just as dogmatic. :o

I said this all along, and it has nothing to do with Nolan himself, but more his job well done with BB: I tust him enough to say "he did a good job with BB, and he will do a good job with TDK."

That includes the casting of Ledger, in which I do not like; but I will give him a chance, and the future casting of Dent. I believe he will chose the correct person for the job.
