Bond...James Bond.

can't wait. Bond games have always been my favourite shooters. hopefully this one is good, i haven't played any since everything or nothing because the reviews havent been good

I'm wondering on what the thinking is behind getting someone else to portray Bond.

Maybe since the new game won't be based on the movie, they can't avoid paying money to Craig for his likeness?

WHOA! He looks like the one from the books! Throw a scar on his face, and he's be perfect!

Yeah, Almost too perfect...

I assume with his look, they'll be adapting a Flemming novel.

Hopefully they put some effort into this - I like his look for Bond.

I've only read Casino Royale and Devil May Care. How action packed are the other books? Casino Royale wasn't very action packed, but Devil May Care sure was.
Edit - I know Devil May Care wasn't written by Fleming, but I believe it's recognized as a part of the book canon, right?

The Flemming novels aren't that action packed. I've only read Casino Royale, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and You Only Live Twice.

Yeah, it's the same with the previous films. I love the Connery films, but if Dr. No or Goldfinger came out they would get panned for lack of action.

Times a changed.

Maybe if its based of a Flemming novel they can do a Moonraker game.

I dont know how well this will do. Right now, Daniel Craig is James Bond, throwing another actor to portray that character, i feel, wont work in Activisions favor. I dont know tho, maybe the game will turn out good, i doubt it tho considering Activision wants this to be one of their yearly titles.

Hmmmm this could actually be really good... Coincidentally, just last week my girlfriend and I had a massive James Bond marathon (because we made up a fun James Bond drinking game) and it got me thinking about the various James Bond games, and I think while Daniel Craig is great as a gritty, realistic Bond, I think the old school, over the top, corny one-liner type Bond world is a better for the game world.... More room for car chases, wacky characters and whatnot, in terms of game variety. That last bond game, done in a call of duty style, just didn't feel right...

Everything or Nothing is the greatest Bond game ever.

^ Thats exactly which Bond I was thinking of, in terms of how the games should be... Sure Goldeneye was a fantastically fun game, as far as shooters go, but it didn't exactly fully feel like a bond game.

Yeah. EoN is hands down THE 007 game. It pretty much covers all that Bond is about. Fast cars, hot chicks, quick witty one liners, cool gadgets, lots of gunplay and melee.

I found this link, which says he'll voice the character...http://mi6.co.uk/sections/articles/gaming_activision_report_nov09.php3?t=&s=&id=02400

So, I guess that means it might not look like him per se. But, you gotta figure they'll use his likeness since he looks so much like the artist rendered descriptions by Flemming. I mean, why not? Assassin's Creed has male model used as the likeness for Desmond, not to mention Kristen Bell's face and voice in as well. Mass Effect has a male model as well as the default Commander Shepard as well. So, I don't think they'll try to do what something like...oh, Agent Under Fire did and have some kind of unholy combination of Connery, Moore, and Brosnan.

I noticed he said that he had just played James Bond in a videogame, which maybe hints his voicework is already completed?

The MI6 article says that the new 007 game was supposed to come out around this time of year but got delayed to avoid getting run over with the behemoth that is Modern Warfare 2. Avoiding the problem Activision felt they created by releasing COD WAW so closely with QoS.

So, maybe they're further along than we might think? Just speculation entirely on my part, though.

Cool I'm looking forward to another 007 game. I really liked Quantum of Solace even though it was a short game but the MP was a lot of fun IMO.

That's genuis, man. That would be perfect.

Bond would fit perfectly too into that Cinematic...**** blowing up while your on it type of set pieces.

Sigh.

I think they're just enthralled with nailing the 'next Goldeneye'...that they will keep tossing FPS's at the 007 brand. It's almost like some impossible goal some developers have set for themselves.

In a way I like this news, because it has potential. They should have a Bond persona made specifically for the video game world, have one actor always do it with his likeness. Then they should focus strictly on original stories like EoN, instead of constantly doing movie tie-ins.

Bond has potential to be a good video game franchise, and I think separating themselves from the movies is a good way to start.

Also, no more FPS games. Goldeneye was unique and the FPS genre is very different now than it was then. Stick to an EoN/Uncharted style game, and it would be great.

Yea, imo, its not like there isnt a good Bond game to go by. EoN, imo, showed how to really capture James Bond in a video game form. I think they need to bring us back to that.

The only thing i worry about, and its not that big of a deal, but its the Daniel Craig factor. I mean he is Bond as of this moment. I think one of the things that made EoN work for me anyway, was that Brosnan was Bond at the time and was Bond in the game. I felt the same way when i was playing through the Bourne Conspiracy, the whole time i couldnt get over the fact that i wasnt looking at Matt Damon as Jason Bourne. Then again, maybe it was because the game itself was just ok. I am eager to hear more on this project tho. Hopefully Activision will get it right.

Good point, Pat.

And with Bond...it's all about Bond's style. It's why when people start debating on who's they're favorite Bond it can be all over the place. How he might

Right now, Daniel Craig is Bond...and having a Bond game hit around the time of a new Bond movie can be a strange disconnect.

Having an unknown actor, who's never been 007 onscreen, can be even stranger.

I dunno, holding out hope. I'd like a 3rd person shooter. But, I think it's going to be an FPS. I think they'll just keep chasing that unicorn.

Yea i agree with you, i have a feeling they are going to try and recreate what Golden Eye did, when in fact they'll never be able to do that.

If they do give us a 3rd person game, i hope they keep the CQC type combat that is seen in the current Bourne/Bauer/Bond type characters.

Lets not forget its Activision too, so we know its likely to just be another brand game they rush out with a movie release... At least towards the end of their work with Bond, EA were starting to figure out what worked and what didn't. Activision don't seem to care.
