Bono is at a U2 concert in Glasgow when he asks the audience for some quiet.

Then in the silence, he starts to slowly clap his hands.Holding the audience in total silence, he says into the microphone:

"Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies."

A voice from near the front pierces the silence:

"Well, stop ****in' clapping then!"

Sure I do. But if I pay 70 dollars for a ticket to hear you sing, then SING!!! I can get the political crap on TV or talk radio!! I want 90 minutes of escapism.

These singers think that we reeaally want know what there opinions are!! And some of us are stupid enuff to believe that just because they are famous, they must be informed or intelligent about the subject they are mouthing off about.

Were you at the Barbara Streisand concert a few days ago?

If he had said "Every time I clap my hands, a liberal aborts a baby while smoking a crackpipe and worshipping Satan" you would not be complaining.

But then that would be a Rammstein or a Pantera show.

Bono is a gifted performer, has done some wonderful humanitarian, consciousness-raising work and is a fruit loop.

I like Bono and U2 very much.

I do, however think that Bono doth let his bleeding heart show too much from time to time.

When:
I'm on a long line and it's my turn to be rung up
Having sex
Or in a bathroom stall

I like to get everyone's attention and mention a current humanitarian cause that needs to be addressed.

I think it's great that Bono does what he does, but this is an example of him doing it at the wrong time. I personally think U2 has alienated some of their original fanbase (like me) with a lot of the social/political activisim they've spawned upon us in the last decade. They were such a great band throughout the 80's and early 90's...selfishly I wish they would concentrate more on their music than on spilling rhetoric, simply for the fans of their music. Still, I can't slam a guy too much for helping other people.

I think this was a joke people.
a horse has never walked into a bar, and the bartender has never asked "why the long face?"

There is a 12 inch pianist though. I saw him on Craig Ferguson.
