Pitchford: Borderlands 2 DLC may skate on the sand a la Star Wars

We expect a stream of quality downloadable content post-launch for Borderlands 2, if DLC for the first game is anything to judge by. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford teased fans at a panel during Gearbox Software Community Day in Dallas, saying the team is channeling Star Wars: Return of the Jedi for one piece of content.

"I've always wanted to ride a sail barge and drive a Sand Skiff," Pitchford said. "I've always wanted to do that, and we've got some cool stuff that's along those lines."

Borderlands 2 will have four pieces of DLC by June 2013, available for $10 each, or all together for $30 as part of the season pass.

Yesterday, Gearbox held Community Day 2012 in Dallas, where fans could meet with the devs and just have a grand ol' time. During a panel with the Borderlands 2 team, an audience member asked why the company likes to go out of its way to reach out to fans, specifically mentioning the Claptrap marriage proposal video and the Michael Mamaril eulogy (check it out here, starting at the 2:46:40 mark). Details of Michael's incorporation followed.

Michael's NPC will be hanging around somewhere in Sanctuary, and every time you meet him, he will give you loot of rarity level blue or higher. Essentially, he's the guy you can count on when the game starts to wear you down. Not only that, meeting him will also give you the "Tribute to a Vault Hunter" Achievement, immortalizing the man both in the game and on the Xbox Leaderboard. That's pretty heavy.

Friggin' awesome.

Finally finished Borderlands, and do think I'll get 2. I like it, but was iffy because co-op is so hyped, and supposedly a big part, but I didn't really get to try it enough to like it.

Next to no servers were up when I got around to it, most were starting over at lvl 1. 2 of those were just everyone running around, found it hard to get ammo as everyone quickly grabbed everything that dropped, and both servers seemed to randomly kick ppl. I got into one over level 20, but it was just 2 ppl running in circles trying to duel repeatedly. Next to no servers past that.

I know if I played it earlier there would have been more servers, so I'm not holding that against it. It's just hard to judge a major feature in a sequel that ppl loved in the original. I liked the first one enough though that I'm looking forward to getting 2. Will have to wait until Friday after I get paid though since I didn't set any money back for it....thinking about Transformers FOC too.

Oh man, I cannot wait for this game.... my friends and I are all ready to go to the midnight launch on Wednesday night and get our B-Lands on :P

I was playing it last week and there seemed to be a few people who were already at level 30+, some even at 60. I think it depends on what playthrough you use, because I was trying to get the "Kill a boss in co-op" trophy so I was trying to get into someone's game who was right at that part since I didn't have a second controller to help me do it myself. But I noticed that when I had it set to my second playthrough, I only found other people who were at level one starting their own games.

oh yeah for those of us that are waiting for the Goty and won't be Getting their the pre orders this tomorrow Game informer will be streaming it live for us to see. it'll have to hold you since they don't do demo's. (of late a lot of them from other dev studio's on other Games haven't been that Great /representative of them so i see why) so it'll have to tide you over for a bit. it'll up here tomorrow when they put up. that's only if you did Get this coming awesome Game

I was always a Brick player myself. Hope he's in there somewhere.

I chose free shipping when I ordered on Amazon, so I'll probably have it towards the end of the week.

This game is :awesome:.

And happily, I found that my system cranks it just fine. Yay me!

hehe I knew it . my pc before I had the inside rebuilt was only 5 year's old before it kinda died on me. (freaking mother board died) it was a pain upgrading. But any thing that has the spec's it says for minim should be able to run it. Now if it was anything before that (5 yrs) spec wise . well then your in trouble.

Claptrap is an a**hole. :D

"Hey, just run really fast through the electricity! You won't get hurt if you run fast enough!"

I ran into the electric field like, 5 times... and lol'd pretty hard after the AI chick told me what to really do.

Anyways damn, having just played the first one earlier today this one feels so much better. I always thought it looked cool, but the way the revolvers shoot is also incredibly satisfying. :awesome:

edit:

Right before I killed a bandit or somesuch he yelled, "I am the one who knocks!" lol, nice.
