There's already talk, and early blame, about the fact that the FBI interrogated him a couple of years ago about possible terrorist connections, but never followed up on it. They figured he wasn't a threat at the time, but never kept a close watch just in case.

Another interesting facet of that is that "a foreign government" actually requested the investigation into Tamerlan. The media refuse to name that country, but it's highly likely it was Russia, and they wanted him investigated for terrorist ties to the Chechens.

The Feds definitely dropped the ball on that investigation back in 2011.

I doubt he's been prepping for this for the entire time he's been in America. He's 19.

For all we know he was born to do something like this and being prepped since he was 3. Born, brainwashed, comes over, assimalates, does the act and then hides in plain sight.

Their city is now safer after a major threat was removed. They are feeling a sense of relief now that two crazy maniacs armed with guns and bombs are running around their streets. That's a reason to rejoice.

That too. I was going to mention earlier that it was amazing how in all of the chaos of what happened on Monday and in the aftermath of it, that the Feds were able to search through the millions ... and millions of American citizens, legal and illegal immigrants that are in this country, and were somehow able to narrow it do to 2 individuals in such a short time. But then, like you mention, there was some help from a foreign government, and they did drop the ball back then.

It's also interesting to note that in an interview with Tamerlan's former boxing coach, he said he hadn't spoken to him since 2010, and that he never took any trips outside of the country. Which means in the year after, he must have gotten involved in some groups or ideologies that caused him to leave some things behind and eventually take some trips down to Russia, where it is assumed that he received some kind of training.

Yeah, I only suggest that maybe he was born into this because it would be a different way to attack. Usually terrorists turn out to be guys who were in the country for a year and ended up killing themselves during their attacks. But to attack from within, it would be different and unexpected.

However, I don't think that's the case, and honestly, I think what hurt these guys was the fact that they were both assimilated. They both have a history here in the US, and because of that, it was easier to track down certain things about them. Sure having people say "he's a good kid" would make him look like he wasn't suspicious, but I think once the names and the faces were released, they knew they were screwed. They couldn't get flights out of the country without having their passports checked, and they would have needed stolen credit cards and fake IDs to go by unnoticed.

I'm still shocked about how much all of the chaos from last night, and even today, was to a GTA game. I mean you had carjacking, dead cops, wild gun fights, and explosives thrown out a window. It's just so surreal to think that all happened in the past 24 hours.

From the sounds of it, he should make it through. And when he does, he'll have so many guards waiting for him. There's talk that the hospital is filled with cops that are not just keeping him from escaping, but will also keep anyone else from getting to him. I just don't know how I feel about the news making all of that info public, like where he's staying and how the guards are set up.

Yeah, it's really been unreal and I've never been this glued to my computer about ongoing events or even the news in that matter. I was up 'til 3 last night listening to police scanners, on reddit, in here, and streaming the local Boston news. The news can usually be so depressing that I just read a little in the morning and that's it.

I think the best quote or tweet was what you put up that was tweeted about the show 24. So freaking true.

Also, I've gotta say, and you know I hate to say it. But honestly, this would be a hit movie if it was made. So much of this is so surreal it's like wow. FBI releasing images of suspects, shootouts wih police and tossing explosives, younger brother running over his older brother to escape, man going out for a cigarette notices blood on his boat and discovers the suspect (I wonder how long he was there btw), then another shootout that I am seriously AMAZED he wasn't killed in considering all the gunfire I heard in those cell phone vids (that dude's boat must be f***ed), and now we're discovering some possible terrorist connections. I truly do feel for the victims and all the stress/trauma those cities had to deal with and I hate saying this out loud but this was like a film unfolding in front of us and had to be the biggest event since 9/11.

I don't think that's accurate at all. Most Muslims don't think the Muslim terrorists are truly Muslim, in the sense that Christians don't believe the WBC is truly Christian. It's not about misidentification on the accusers part, but the religion's majority pointing out that the terrorists are following a poisoned version of the religion.

I was just listening to some debate about whether or not he should be given the death penalty, so I'm not sure he'll even make it to prison if he gets out of this alive. He's going to be tried and most likely convicted.

Yeah, I feel like I've been up all day following this, which is something I rarely do. I fell asleep listening to the news on my computer at around 4am and kept waking up every couple of hours as new details came out. I finally got out of bed at 9am and didn't leave my room at all because I was still following everything. I put aside my plans to run some errands and to be honest, I was upset when they said the didn't have any leads in that last conference because I felt like it was all a waste, and I thought raising the lockdown was a dumb idea. But who would've known that lifting the lockdown would lead to him being spotted in someone's backyard.
