Bought/Though May 28th, 2009 (spoilers)

Hebe.
Hera. Hela lives in Vegas (we'd had this conversation before:cwink:).
The only one I flat out didn't recognize is the Minotaur looking guy.
That's Kyknos, Ares' son; he was in the flashback in #116. Herc killed him.

So far, that's at least 33% of the jury with a personal grudge against Hercules: Kyknos (for killing him), Artume (for helping kill her), Nessus (for killing him), and Veranke (for killing her Gods).
Will they manage to free him, or go for another soul, like Aegis, instead?
As soon as Aegis said that Herc could only take one, I guessed that they'll end up taking Aegis instead.

Man Dread... more proofreading. You're posts are usually so clean and proper. I found quite a few mistyped words and such.

Anyhow, good reviews. I have to say my favorite part of GotG, wasn't even in the actual story, it was the preview for next issue. Cosmo and Rocket on the cover with the heading "Cosmo Say, "Brink it on!" I love Cosmo! and I am really loving Jack's mask as well. It's cool. This issue also made me like Vulcan a bit more. He works really well as a cosmic villain and I kinda hope he doesn't die in the end of this event. He could be a cool returning villain a bit like Thanos of old, once he's fleshed out a bit more.

As for Nova, I'm pumped about Super Nova in the end. I always thought he'd be a great fit for the current space stuff but knew he died as a hero back in the end of the original New Warriors run. I'm hoping it'll be explained, and with his writing team I'm assuming it will be. And I was real happy to see Tarcel still alive. I like the original new Nova's. Kill the rest but I was sad about Tarcel. Good to see he's still around.

Iron Fist... loved Bride of Nine Spiders pulling the demon thing into her spidery breasts... though her head was wierd in that shot. I think the Immortal Weapons may possibly be my favorate new characters of the decade. I can't think of anyone that I like more. I like all of them. As you guessed for most, Fat Cobra is my favorate followed by the Prince of Orphans (not techinally new). The rest are great but just haven't been fleshed out much, so that's at least one good thing about the mini coming up. I hate spending $4 on comics but since it's moreso tales on these guys, I'm going to justify it and hope my extra $6 helps bring about an Iron Fist relaunch or something. I'd just hate to see this title end. This and Nova are my favorate books every month.

As for some other titles I read, I don't want to do reviews because it's 2 in the morning and I'm tired. But I will say this...

New Avengers - Bendis surprised me by actually writing a fairly convincing and funny Spider-Man. I don't mind Bendis' New Avengers but I've always disliked his Spidey. I found while reading this issue that I wasn't thinking about Bendis, as I usually do, and actually got into the characters. The story ended up being pretty good. It actually felt like a decently written team book with a lot of characters getting their moments (cap shooting Madam Masque, Luke taking on Dormamu/Hood, Spidey was very Spidey-ish, Spider-Woman vs Masque in the fog, etc.) Honestly, I've been debating on dropping the book after this arc, but this issue has changed my mind. Not only that it was good, but that it was a good TEAM issue. That's something Bendis doesn't do, and if he did here then maybe the man is actually learning/improving in his craft... God forbid. We'll see. I suppose.

But if memory serves, wasn't Bachalo doing art for this arc? Why do we suddenly have Tan back? Don't get me wrong, I like Tan better, but it just kinda threw me. I actually liked the issue but am not a big fan of who was chosen as the new sorceror supreme. There was a good Damien Hellstrom/Hood fight, but then the guy shows up and it ends up being Brother Voodoo, who I've never cared for. Oh well, we'll see how it plays out. I was hoping for Asguardian (though I knew he was too young and that it was highly improbable).

note: Yeah, I just noticed I called Wiccan Asguardian. Holy 2005 Batman!

Nova #25
"Use your imagination and your will, Richard!"

Attention! The fourth wall is taking heavy fire. From rapid-fire awesome.

This is the best Marvel book on the stands. Has been for quite some time. It seemed, for a brief shining instant, that Captain Britain and MI-13 would rise up to contest that position, but that is obviously not gonna happen now. And now, it has no rival, no adversary to challenge its place. It's almost...sad.

Guardians of the Galaxy #14
Very good. I suppose everyone who wanted the crazyb****!Phyla from her earliest appearances can sleep easy, now?

The Incredible Hercules #129
Good. Hey uh, I've been meaning to ask; who's the Huntsman? I don't recognize him from any myths, much less as one of Hera's kids.

Hera. Hela lives in Vegas (we'd had this conversation before:cwink:).

About a year or so ago I used to become quite irritated when I would spend sometimes 2-3 hours typing up comic reviews in my off time and the only time anyone would reply to them was to correct some error, often a typo like these. The sort of thing that made me feel like I was wasting my life a little.

But you're cool because you do that, but also add a legitimate reply to the review as well. That's the way to do it.

Incidentally, I also defy you to never mix up Hela, Hera, and Hebe while typing a long post sometime. :p

It is a bit of a biased jury, but considering they're all villains to begin with, it's not surprising. It would be good if Aegis became part of the supporting cast. I mean, he's not doing much else lately.

Huntsman had a bit of a new hairdo this issue, or at least his hair was drawn a little differently.

I see. Yeah, issue #116 was a while ago, I forgot. Artume, that's her name.

Anyone remember the name of that pirate dude?

The Huntsman had an entry into one of the Marvel Handbooks some time ago. The staffers theorized he could be the famous Greek hunter Cephalus, since the two characters have similarities.

And yes, NOVA, GOTG and INCREDIBLE HERCULES all rock, but NOVA just a smidge harder this week.

It's called, "I wanted to post this before I ate/went out for the evening." Sheesh, I really hate agreeing with Joe Quesada, but sometimes you fanboys really can't be pleased. Free posts on a free website and they'd BETTER BE PERFECT, GOSH DARN IT!

Teasing, I get the point. :word:

But, yeah, in a rush this week.

Dread why arent you reading Old Man Logan?

Just wasn't interested. I'm not the biggest fan of some of Millar's more recent work. It wares thin. His FANTASTIC FOUR is a little different but from OLD MAN LOGAN, I know what to expect. I've also outgrown Wolverine a bit. So far I have heard it was fine for a Millar fan, and better than HULK.

Not only that it was good, but that it was a good TEAM issue.

I was wondering if anyone else thought that also. I like this TEAM much better than the original NA. It seems a lot less forced than the original. (Spidey and Wolvie are becoming a nice team within a team. Here and over in Amazing. I was thinking that their scenes are starting to remind me of his with Nightcrawler or Colossus back in the good old days...)

I loved Spidey's IF joke, and that he can get under Bucky Cap's skin.

I'm sorry, but this is too precious to not point out. :meanie:

Oh no, that was proper... the rest of the grammer correcting world just don't want you to know that.

Oh yeah, that Iron Fist joke caught me off guard and I started giggling at work. My co-workers gave me funny looks.

He's a made-up character from the early issues of The Champions in the 1970s.

He's not one of Hera's kids, as far as I know (he calls her "mum", but that seems to be a tic in the writing here; Delphyne called Artume the same thing).

I think you may enjoy it. Maybe read it in trade form it might just be fun for you. Its a nice alternate future.

Probably an onomatopoeic spelling of the British pronunciation for "ma'am."

So, whats with the end of the latest Avengers Invaders where

Thor shows up with the Nazi superheroes?

Around 2:30 a.m. New York time, SHH "updates" for about 15-25 minutes and before and around that time some of their connection gets wiggy, often leading to double/triple posts.

Wow I just read the latest issue of Old Man Logan and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a story as much as this can't wait for the next ish.

I just finished reading the last three issues of Trinity. I'm glad it's over. It was decent, but about 40 issues too long. Way too much build up, way too little pay off. 12 issue maxi series would've been just fine. Thanks DC, but no more weekly books for me.
