Bought/Thought for 1/23/08

I've heard good things about Green Arrow/Black Canary, so I guess he's not all bad.

The only good things I've heard are about the art.

Most of the good things I've heard are about the art, but people are also saying Winick's story wasn't too bad. "Not too bad" is high praise for the likes of Winick.

Anyone read the punisher this week?

I honestly doubt marvel will publish anything better this year than that issue.

Really I would love to have the ability to write a review like dread (or darthphere who never posts enough reviews) of this issue but I'm simply not up to the task.

I will say it has one of the most chilling and saddening last pages of any comic I've ever read.

That's a pretty strong statement to be making in January. I'm sure it gets loads better as the year progresses. I mean, hell, Nick Fury is coming back.

I stopped reading the MAX Punisher because I fell behind. I always meant to catch up again, but I never did.

How do I put this...?

Let's say you read the first half of Amazons Attack, but forgot to look online for spoilers about its conclusion. Then you wrote a story about it, anyway. And the continuity made no sense. That's what Winick has done in GA/BC.

That, and get rid of DC's best Caublasian superhero.

Haha, "Caublasian"? Anyway, I'm kind of glad Connor's "dead," since it at least saves him from being written by Winick.

Tiger Woods coined the term. Caucasian, black, Asian. Connor is the Tiger Woods of superheros.

And they should've just moved him to the JSA. He'd fit in there.

I'm speaking for myself, but do you think these bought/thought threads can be about books that people bought and what they thought of them, and not one sentence conversations for pages?

The first few pages have a few bought/thoughts. But by mid-week naturally they peter out into convo's.

Convos related to what we bought and thought. See? Full circle.

This week actually counts as having been pretty heavy on comics discussion, frankly.

What's this obsession with silly things like "topics" and "relevant discussion" about anyway? :o

I don't read MAX Punisher honestly. Something I plan on changing.

Leave?

Yeah, what everyone else said...

Think about it, there's a new Bought/Thought thread every week and there's only so much you can say in a week before everything important is already talked about to death.

Or you could, you know...just scan for actual reviews and stop complaining.

Or contribute a review instead of just complaining about the lack of them. Like so:

Scott Pilgrim vol. 3: Scott Pilgrim and the Infinite Sadness
Hilarious. You'll never look at vegans the same way again. Read it, love it, thank me later.

Also, Ramona's hammer rules.

:)

All joking aside.....that's a big "your loss"!!.....The original Barracuda, Slavers and current "Long Cold Dark" arc have been freaking awesome!!...it amazes me this book sells so poorly!!

You can't just look at where it ranks when it comes to sales.
