I actually found that I greatly enjoyed The End League. I've never been very picky on some of the stuff you guys mention here and there. I just read it for the story it is with no expectations and found that I really enjoyed the comic, and enjoyed it more the more I thought of it the next day. The characters we got to know were interesting (though Soldier American's name is horrendous). I like how only one issue in I already feel like I know this rich comic history of this world.

So yeah, I'm a big fan of this and can't wait for the next issue. I definately recommend it.

And for the record.... I typically can't stand Ellis' stuff, especially on mainstream heroes, but I love his Thunderbolts! I couldn't get into any previous incarnation of the Thunderbolts so props to Ellis for finally getting me into the title.

Stupid ****ing Canadians. :cmad:

Also, if The End League doesn't get better with the next issue, it's dropped.

Eh, it's growing on me. It didn't go where I expected it to, but now that I've been forced to drop those expectations, #1 is actually not a bad issue in its own right. I'll probably give it at least a couple more issues to see where it actually is going.

The inconsistent dialogue was too distracting, and I'm not a fan of Broome's art.

Yeah, I'd forgotten about the dialogue. That was pretty bad. I really have no idea what Remender was going for there.

I think he's just in unfamiliar territory with a superhero book.

Doll & Creature was pretty much a superhero horror book, and that was a good read. Maybe because the End League characters are such clear copies of famous established heroes, he's somehow duped himself into writing them differently.

All of his other books teeter on the edge of being superhero books. This is the first one he's actually done with all out spandex and capes. Maybe he's freaked himself out. :(

Maybe. Someone needs to tell him to stop being starstruck and just write as well as he normally does.

Yeah. He still writes Fear Agent flawlessly. I love that book. I love that that book comes out on time, too.

END LEAGUE wasn't perfect, but I've given far worse comics a try, and overall it wasn't bad. I'll give the next few issues a chance. The debut had some 40+ years of history to introduce, and that can drain any issue. We'll see how #2 goes.

It's no UMBRELLA ACADEMY, though.

No, but it's one of the few non big two books Dread's reading so that's all he has to compare it too.

The worst of all.

Wait, no, I forgot about indian burns. Those are the worst of all burns. :(

No, but it's one of the few non big two books Dread's reading so that's all he has to compare it too.

Actually, I only compared it to Umbrella Academy because both are published by Dark Horse, and are fairly recent launches. :o

As for "non big two" books I read, they are:

INVINCIBLE
ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN
DYNAMO 5
FEARLESS
INVINCIBLE PRESENTS: ATOM EVE
UMBRELLA ACADEMY

And the aforementioned END LEAGUE, which I will stick with a few issues.

It is worth noting I read only two DC books, BLUE BEETLE and BOOSTER GOLD. Cooke's THE SPIRIT run is over so I am likely done with that, and I only sporatically read Paul Dini's DETECTIVE COMICS.

Yes, if only I read WALKING DEAD and had an avatar with someone from PLANETARY on it, I could be a comic snob too. :p Least I am a recovering Marvel Zombie. Many of the non-big two titles are among my favorites.

C'mon Dread. Even I read Walking Dead (although I trade wait.) I mean, it's not like we're recommending Wolverine:Origins here. Even if you don't like zombie stories, I think you'll like it.
