Bought/Thought for 3/3/10 (SPOILERS WITHIN!!)

I have no problem with it, it just lacks a certain punch since we don't know the full extent of how "historically" Pete and MJ's relationship ended. Last I heard in this post OMD "situation" they were just engaged, unless I missed something.

I don't know why people seem bent about MJ & Harry hooking up.... I called that out when BND began...

:yay:

Well, mainly it could be due to the idea that some readers feel MJ belongs with Peter instead of Harry, since after all, things were pretty rocky between her and Harry last time even before he became the Green Goblin, what with his addiction problem. Plus, it would appear to be recycling that angle if this was the direction they were going. Although, to be fair, it would being some tension in Peter's friendship with Harry which is really needed at this point as well as between him and MJ. Also, it would depend upon how they approach it without dis-serving any of the characters--if this is the route they are taking these characters that is.

It's because some readers don't feel that MJ or Peter belong with anyone other than each other because some readers still haven't really gotten over OMD, they've just put it out of their minds and tried to enjoy post-OMD ASM the best they can. Whenever MJ or Peter f***s someone else, it throws OMD right back in their faces so they can't put it out of their minds.

Some of us were reading ASM since well before the MJ engagement/marriage, and while it was cool to see it way back in, what, '87, I never thought about them being married 20 years later.

Besides, what they've really set up with OMD (a pretty bad miniseries, just in terms of quality imo) is the opportunity to see Spidey date other girls but eventually win MJ again. You know it's going to happen, I know it's going to happen, Marvel knows it's going to happen. So quit *****ing about it and watch it happen.

You know, even though I'm one of the worst culprits of thinking Pete and MJ should be with each other and no one else... her and Harry isn't even about that with me. It's the fact that it's yet again another storyline from the 70's and 80's being rehashed as if it were something new.

It's back to my same old argument. If you're going to completely drag the book and characters through the mud so that we can go in a new and inavative direction... make it new. Don't just tell the stories the writers were reading when they were kids. Make it something worthwhile or else OMD/BND wasn't worth the headache and the writers of the book not worth their paychecks.

Quesada says it's not going to happen... so until he stops being EiC... it's not going to.

Oversensitive much? If you're enjoying the comics, great. Other people are perfectly within their rights to complain if they're not. Granted, why they'd still be reading the comics in the first place is beyond me, but fans are weird.

That too.

Exactly. As evidenced by how most readers reacted when Marvel announced their new direction for Amazing Spider-Man last week by saying, "Peter Parker gets fired and is unemployed!" It was basically a collective, "Again? Why exactly is this is newsworthy?"

Even if Quesada quits as EIC, it'll only be because he'll most likely get a promotion to a higher position. That'll probably be another 10 years and the next guy will still have to answer to Quesada, who will still have his say. There's no light at the end of the tunnel for those that are pro-marriage.
