BOUGHT/THOUGHT for January 9, 2008

When I sold off my first collection to buy my first car (which I would total less than a year later), it included a copy of those two Hulk comics featuring Wolverine's first appearance. (Remember, the first appearance was a shadow on the last page, I think.) I hate thinking about selling that collection now; I'll probably never be able to afford that NM issue again.

Does anybody watch these reviews? I've actually come to like the show, myself. I subscribed to the podcast and I watch it at work, pausing only to hide it when my boss walks by. Pete has crappy opinions, but Justin I tend to agree with a lot and Alex is kind of 50/50.

Hmm, I'll have to add that one. I'm subscribed to about 5 comic-related podcasts and another 6 or 7 public radio ones.

There's a Hispanic dude on VE who's the biggest Marvel Zombie ever. His reviews are fun to watch just to laugh at him. The guy I like is the skinny dude with glasses.

Yea,I never noticed him being a zombie,I think it was more of his totally incoherent reviews where he would fall back to the same phrases over and over again.

It's like he was trying to drag them out, nothing wrong with short and sweet.

In case anyone's looking for other good comic podcasts, I'd highly recommend The Comicology Podcast. It's by a dude named Neil Gorman and, rather than just review stuff, he tends to just pick a topic from comics and talk about it in-depth for a while. Pretty interesting on his good days. On his bad days, he interviews manga creators, but you can just skip those like I do. :)

iTunes, if you've got an iPod. Or here.

So far I've listened to his recap of Beta Ray Bill's history and his analysis on the new trend to make 2nd- and 3rd-tier characters the stars of major comics. He talks about the New and Mighty Avengers in the latter and, although he praises them way too much, he does mention that he hates Wonder Man's jacket.

They had a "fashion intervention" and forced Simon to ditch the jacket.

There are gonna be a lot of kids with black eyes and missing comics because of us.

It's true. They need to know that there are consequences for doing things as stupid as paying for a Bendis Avengers comic.

This is probably not going to get any responses, but did anyone read Onslaught Reborn? I heard that a Heroes Reborn character comes over to the 616 universe at the end of it, and I was wondering if someone could fill me in on who it was.

Bucky is now in the 616 universe.
