BOUGHT/THOUGHT for January 9, 2008

A random Fred Savage cameo always works wonders.

He atones for that sin by directing Sunny episodes now and then.

But still....:csad:

Hulk #1 - Like some others on Hype in bought this to see McGuinness back on a ongoing and aside from the art, I didn't expect much. But surprising this was actually a fun first issue. The writing from Loeb is good and he manages to give each of the supporting cast a voice. The identity of Red Hulk is resolved and thankfully not padded out for the whole arc. I liked that Banners still there, even if his reveal felt like something out of The Ultimates. Despite that his inclusion and new status quo should provide an interesting twist for the book.

I'll stick with this series for now and hope Loeb can play to McG's strengths and give us some fun action.

Thought:

Spiderman #546 - First Spidey book I've purchased in years, thanks to Slott & McNiven. Didn't know Harry was back. Hell, I didn't know they were back to the original numbering. It wasn't mind-blowing or anything but I will probably check out a few more issues...

Hulk #1 - McGuiness is great and Loeb has written stuff I liked before. C-list characters I like showed up (Red Guardian, Darkstar). It will be interesting to see how Rick went from being nearly dead at the end of WWH to this new red mofo.

X-Factor #27 - I'll be glad when this crossover is over. I don't read half the X-books so this story is swiss cheese.

The Twelve #1 - Obscure ass characters? Right up my alley. Not familiar with the artist but he gets a thumbs up.

Youngblood #1 - I think I've only ever read two issues of the old Youngblood series so a couple of the characters...Doc Rocket and Johnny Panic...are new to me. As long as Liefeld stays away I will check this out at least for the first arc.

Besides posing in lingerie, here's some other notes in Winnies resume...

X-Men Legends- voice of Jubilee
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance - voice of Invisible Woman

Justice League - voice of Stapphire Stagg

Fred Savage was the voice of Hawk in that one.

I think she's some type of math genius.too. I don't think PhotoJones cares about that though.

Anyone mind breaking that down for me? I ain't readin' that ****.

Ok...I'll try my best...but, this series was soooo awful, I found myself speed reading just to get it finished with.

Franklin Richards got all of the Heroes Reborn heroes and villians to work together in an attempt to destroy Onslaught. Bucky, our narrator of the story, pushed Onslaught into the Negative Zone, and the barrier between the dimensions close up on both of them forever. You have Captain America yelling, "NOOOOOOO," as he tries to break open the barrier and save Bucky; but, it's all for naught.

Franklin gets a green ball and is basically told to think of home, and that way he'll be wisked back to his family in the 616. (He tries to explain to that realities Sue and Reed that he's there son, but they have a hard time believing him, of course. They say in the end they'd be proud to have him as a son.) So, Franklin holds the green, glowing ball and thinks, "There's no place like home, there's no place like home." (Not kidding, although Loeb is making an obvious joke there.)

SOOOoooo, we get the narrator, Bucky, telling us, "You don't think I really died, did you? You should have been clued into the fact that I'm narrating this story that I'm still alive." (I'm paraphrasing, of course.) We see her walking in some unknown city...then, the final page shows her seeing the newspaper announcing that Captain America has been killed. (Yep, the now infamous picture of Cap dead that has been in various 616 books.) Anyway, how did she gets transported to the 616? All that's explained is that Franklin somehow used his powers to transport her, if I remember correctly.

Mighty Avengers #7 - Art looked rushed but I guess when you have to play catch up, it'll turn out that way.

Hulk #1 - Good book, that's the first time I've heard of the Winter Guard. Are there any books of them? Why the hell did it seem like Crimson Dynamo didn't know Iron Man?
