Quick stuff!
Echo #19
Wow! Fantastic issue with plenty of action. One of my favorite characters dies; and, things have sure picked up. The only negative is having to wait a month for the next issue.
The Walking Dead #69
We don't get enough Zombie action in this title much of the time; but, this issue makes up for it, as the group must rescue some people in Washington DC. By issue's end, Rick and company have made it to the new community which promises them safety. From what I've seen by Kirkman in the past 69 issues, I don't hold out much hope.
X-Babies #4
There are some comics or events that hold so much excitement and anticipation, that the end result is ends up being more disappointing than it might actually be. (i.e. World War Hulk and Blackest Night) Then, there are the comics which I hold out zero hope for liking that surprise me so much, that I might hype them a bit more than an average reader might. That was the case with Parker's recent 1602, and it's the same way with X-Babies. I hate...HATE HATE HATE...the Mojoverse. So, when X-Babies was first announced as coming out with a 4-issue mini, I held off reading it for a good couple months. Surprisingly, this has been a pretty funny mini, and full of memories of those old Star comics from the early 90's. Big, BIG Kudos to Schigiel for making me like the X-Babies for the first time, EVER!
X-Men Forever #16
I'm serious, this might be turning out to be my favorite X-title. Talk about expecting zip from a comic, that's been the case of almost everything Claremont has released in the last 20 years. This title is just fun to read, and Claremont can do almost anything. IN this issue, we get bits and pieces from the other characters in this book; but, it mainly focuses on Nightcrawler, Rogue, and Mystique. Great ending, and I'm really dying to find out if Nightcrawler remains in his current condition....and, if Rogue does too. Don't you just get the feeling like Claremont is having as much fun writing this comic as we are reading it??!!?? How great it must be for him to get to play in the X-Universe and be able to do anything he wants with it.
Wolverine Origins #44
This issue wasn't that bad. Logan must break Ruby Thursday out of the Raft with the help of Cloak, and he runs into Skaar and Ares along the way.
Sword #21
Malia continues to spread fear and distrust about Dara, especially with the military and people of New York. This is the proverbial "fighter feels like giving up, but gets inspired by motivational speech" issue. Three issue to go, and the big, final battle starts next issue. This wasn't the best issue....and, as I mentioned, a bit cliched...and, the final act is feeling kind of drawn out...but, it's been a fun ride by The Luna Brothers, and I can't wait to see this final round.
