Bought/Thought November 4th, 2009 --SPOILERS

Even if Spidey was still married to MJ, this would probably have gone down the same way. This issue gave a pretty fair idea that Hebe had great seductive powers, and even though Peter heard all of Hebe's history, couldn't help himself macking on Herc's wife.

His love for MJ would have strengthened his will to resist.

Yea,I'm glad Reborn got an extra issue.

One issue to wrap up everything at this point just doesn't seem possible.
On the other hand, the pacing could've been better and the story could've comfortably lasted only 5 issues. I think Brubaker spent too long building up to Cap's physical return.
VL said in one of his AoNO interviews that this arc is the, I think, seventh of the nine arcs that were in their original outline for the series, and he seemed to think they'd get to finish at least that (whether they go beyond that, which he said they'd be willing to do, is up in the air).

"Assault" ends in February, so I'll be interested to see if the next story has anything to do with "Siege".
I hope it does. Pak and Van Lente seem to dig tying Herc and Cho into things that make sense, and it'd certainly make sense for Herc to come to Thor's aid in "Siege." However much they squabble, they've been friends for centuries in comic time and about 35 years in real time.

Well, it probably would've. I mean, the Flash's love for his wife led him back to her across dimensions. I imagine anyone's love for their spouse would at least make them a little bit more resistant to temptation, magical or otherwise, unless they're a cheating a**hole anyway.

I only got one issue of Project Superpowers, which was Bring On The Bad Guys. Let me know if the other one did come out; because then I'll have to hunt it down.

Project Superpowers Chapter 2 issue 4 DID come out, so hunt that baby down.

Also, I 'aquired' a few issues until I can get money to buy them.

Both Project Superpowers were my favorites of the week thus far. PSP:C2 issue 4 was really good with a pretty good reveal in the end, and it continues to have me curious how it will all play out. I'm really hoping that
Samson
isn't dead though, that'd suck.

Meet the Badguys was my favorite though. As a christian I've always wanted to see that mythos played with alongside the Olimpians and Asguardians and everything, but have always agreed with others that it may come accross a bit hokey. However, this issue staring Samson does play with it and I LOVED it! It was unbiased and just told a great story. I said it after last issue, but I didn't have much care about this mini, despite my love of the main mini and its other offshoots... but I think this is probably my favorite tie-in to the story thus far. Every issue is stand alone and just great, and I can't wait until the final issue with the Scarab and the Supremecy.

Immortal Weapons 4 was also great, definately more on par with issue 1 (Fat Cobra) than the other two.

And Hulk 16 was.. well, Hulk. If you've hate the series you'll hate the issue, if you love the series you'll love the issue. I didn't mind it, but I'm eager to drop the title once this whole Fall of the Hulks deal is over.. or maybe sooner. It's a fun read for $3, it's not worth $4. I'm only picking up the issues that are important to either Skaar (and thus, Incredible Hulk) or the Fall of the Hulks or whatever that arc is called.

My main interest is in Skaar, but being that he is in the event coming up I like to have the issues that are important enough to lead into it. I plan on going back and getting the first arc of this title due to the Red Hulk's introduction, Banner's becoming stupid Hulk, and their battle, but that's it. I have the issue where Hulk is depowered but there's nothing else imporant enough to pick up between those two stories having to do with Skaar and the Fall of the Hulks story, so that's all I plan on getting of this title.

Same here man, I think I'll check this out. Sounds pretty interesting. :)

Definately do. The entire Project Superpowers line has been phenominal, but as a Christian, this issue really stood out for me. I loved it. And it's stand alone so you don't really need anything else previous to understand it.

Were you a fan of Zauriel over at DC? I always liked the idea of an honest-to-God (pun intended ;)) angel being a superhero.

Batman Confidential #36: A new storyarc begins, involving a rogue Darkhawk agent from the past who somehow manages to come forward in time with his evil troops to break into a secured military facility to steal some classified documents. Of course, Bruce Wayne is there, testing out a new jet plane, and gets invested in the case. Along for the ride is Zinda Blake (although, she just shows up for one panel, but she'll probably be involved in this case from now on, I think).

It's a decent issue. Maybe not the best from this series; but, you get some good Bruce Wayne/Batman detective work, and that's kind of what I look for in a Batman tale. My only complaint is I wish the writers would timeline this story for it's readers. They give hints, as we know it's after the death of Robin; but, it's a small complaint. It's not really important to the story.

House Of M-Masters Of Evil #4: Real good ending to this mini. In this final issue, The Hood and his gang of bad guys have taken over the country of Santo Rico, a haven for all non-mutants. In order to have cause to attack, Magneto sends Nitro on a death mission to deceive the media, in order to make it appear that The Hood had Nitro kill mutants in the name of Sapien's rights. This leads to the attack of Santo Rico by Magneto's Red Guard, led by Wolverine. Those in Hood's gang who stayed to fight know that they have pretty much signed their death warrant; but, these criminals have changed with everything that's happened during the House Of M. Most powerful of all is the love you see between The Hood and Madame Mask.

Sweet Tooth #3: This is one strange book! Sweet Tooth is on the road with Mr. Jepperd, and we get a first look at the world outside of the woods from Sweet Tooth's eyes. The reader is pretty much just as clueless as the book's main character; but, that's what makes the book interesting. We're on a journey with Sweet Tooth, and the journey is not a nice one. Death is all around, and you have to watch yourself around every corner. And, like Sweet Tooth, we don't know if Mr. Jepperd is a good man.

This is definitely my favorite Vertigo title right now. A problem I have with many of the Vertigo books is they get very wordy. Comics have pictures for a reason...you don't have to explain every little thing, especially if it's what you can see in the picture. This book's beauty is that we don't get a lot of words, simply because Jeff Lemire wants you to take this journey through Sweet Tooth's eyes.

I've honstly not read anything with him in it, but he does interest me. I just recently picked up a few issues of the last Spectre series with Hal Jordan and I noticed he's in an issue or two but I'm waiting to read them until I fill the holes in the first 10 issues or so.

But yeah, I'm curious about him. Any recommended reading?

Three more thoughts:

The Mighty #10: This is the issue where everything is revealed. Alpha One's origin is explained to Cole, as he's taken to Alpha One's sanctuary, where he has jar after jar of various beings kept, including Cole's wife. He explains that his previous world rejected his ideas of sacrificing 10% of his world's population to save the 90%, getting banished to the penal colony light-years away on Venus. Things don't go as planned, and Alpha One's transport crashes on Earth, arriving during a battle of the Revolutionary War. Destroying everyone, he makes his base at that location, and after observing Earthfolk for some time, decides his previous plans would work for Earth, too. Many of the disasters that Alpha One has been responding to are actually caused by him, simply to gather live bodies nobody would be missing, like the sinking of the Titanic.

I love this comic, and there are only 2 more issues to go. I almost dropped it after the first issue; but, glad I stuck with it. Real good stuff!!!

Immortal Weapons #4: I'm enjoying this mini more than the last year of Iron Fist's previous title. It's nice to have single issue stories, and the backup Iron Fist story gives me my Iron Fist fix. This issue, featuring Tiger's Beautiful Daughter, show's how this woman had yearnings for engaging in battle and hearing war stories more than just being a subserviant woman. She discovers her people's true past by the end of the story, and it sets her on the path of being Tiger's Beautiful Daughter.

The Great Ten #1: Guess it's only fitting I read this issue after the previous comic. It almost seems like DC is trying to get to have their own version of the Immortal Weapons. This ten issued series is about China's first superhero team, The Great Ten. (As this first issue focuses on the origin of Accomplished Perfect Physician, I'm thinking each of the ten issues will do the same for the other members of The Great Ten.) The book jumps back and forth between the past and the present, as China struggle's with the past and current corrupt regime. It's a decent issue, but gets taken down a notch by the much better Immortal Weapons.

Morrison's JLA. He was introduced there and Morrison used him for a number of arcs, most notably the second arc of the series (where he's introduced) and "World War III." He and Asmodeus, an evil angel, factored heavily into the JLA: Paradise Lost mini-series too.

Stumptown is off to a great start. Very gritty and noirish. The heroine of the piece is a classic noir protagonist: a bit jaded, at the end of her rope, barely any better than the criminals she meets on her case. The issue starts off with her getting shot, then rewinds to show us the chain of events that led to that point. It starts off simple--take a seemingly innocuous missing-person case to square away some gambling debts--but the complexity builds over time. First, she's threatened by two random thugs. Next, she's (gently) kidnapped and brought to a mysterious third party who's interested in locating the missing person before anyone else. Then she gets a call from the missing person herself, only to get stood up at their would-be meeting spot, kidnapped (not so gently this time) again, shot, and finally arrested. Great start so far. I'm very much looking forward to the next issue.

Their love was also apparently so strong that it took Mesphito right out of character. So there's a basis right there.:cwink:

Assault on New Olympus 1-AWSOME! I am so happy hercules beat spider-man.*****

X-Men vs Agents of Atlas 2-Really cool issue but the middle part sucked.***

Captian America Reborn 4-Confusing much but the ending was awsome.****

Astonshing X-Men 32-Beast and Wolverine rocked in this issue so happy that beast did something in this issue. *****

Amazing Spider-Man 610-SO glad the ben reily story is over and glad that kaine and raptor died in this issue.*****

So this is the 7th of their 9 planned arcs. Hmm. Arcs of IH usually range on average to 4-5 issues; there haven't been many that were six or more, actually (beyond "ASSAULT" of course, but I don't mind it here). Which means they'll need another 8-10 months more or less to wrap up their long term run on Herc, which would essentially bring the title to a third year. Hopefully it can last that long; I mean, the last ongoings for GHOST RIDER and MOON KNIGHT did, for heaven's sakes.

His love for MJ would have strengthened his will to resist.

That depends on the writer. For as many writers who want to believe that MJ is the love of Peter's life, just as many claim it was Gwen, and MJ was just "settling". Spidey's editorial board has been scared of him having a long term relationship through so many generations that while OMD still stings, we should honestly be impressed they actually kept him married for over 19 years. I mean this is considering after Gwen, Peter usually wasn't allowed to date a character steady for more than a Presidential term, if he was lucky. She had to be revealed as an alien, or crazy, or something.

Again, the irony of Peter Parker encouraging ANYONE to settle down for the greater good of someone else is not lost on me in AONO #1. It's like Wolverine telling Cyclops he should marry Emma Frost already. :p

Three more before the weekend arrives.

Doctor Voodoo #2: I did not like the first issue of this series. It bored me to tears, and all the talking in it just made me see "blah, blah, blah" after a while. Luckily, this second issue is a bit better. We get some fill in on Voodoo's past (but, do we really need another superhero who's parents are killed early in life), and a little bit of action (although, the action is just a bunch of Voodoo running from the problems). It's no surprise when we see the villian at the end of the issue...anyone with a bit of knowledge would recognize the guy from behind when we see him earlier in this issue.

Still, even with this issue being better than the first, it still didn't do much for me.

Psylocke #1: Decent first issue with pretty good art. It's just these X-Men minis that focus on one character really don't do much for me. It's at least current with events currently happening in the X-titles; and, if you are a fan of Psylocke, I'd bet you like what you get. Second feature, "A Girl Called Hope," isn't much with this first part. Kind of letting people know who don't follow Cable who Hope is and what her and Cable are up to.

Strange tales #3: This mini comes to an end...thank God! For a humorous series, I maybe chuckled two or three times. Don't buy it, don't even bother perusing it in your local comic shop.

Kaine didn't die. Sorry to... ruin it... for you?

I meant his celleular disentegration will kill him and raptor is dead kaine snapped his neck.

Immortal Weapons #4: I love this mini, while we wait for Immortal Iron Fist to return or relaunch this mini has been great. Fat Cobra's issue is still my favorite although now, Tiger's Beautiful Daughter is second best. Duane did an excellent job with this issue and the ending was a good one. Terrific read, i'm really glad we're getting a chance to know Iron Fist's supporting cast like this. The side story with Danny is good, but I have to agree with Dread's comments on it. Still though, should be interesting how Danny's side story plays out next issue. The next issue is going to be great, can't wait for Aman's story.

This is a story you couldn't do with a married Spider-Man. People say, 'You could do all these stories with a married Spider-Man.' Not this one!”

I don't know anything about Assault on New Olympus, but read the above quote at CBR. Why couldn't this story be told with a married Spider-Man?

He was dating Hebe.

It still could be done by making herc's wife using her magical charm abilty to make peter kiss her.So yeah it could be done.
