I'm very very very very happy with the trilogy (it might be my favorite trilogy ever after Indy Jones and LOTR), but a great 4th entry would kick ass.

Greengrass surpassed Liman's work in ways that Liman couldn't even imagine.

I wouldn't necessarily say "couldn't even imagine," but I will definitely agree that Greengrass was better than Liman. Liman was great, but Greengrass was the superior director. I prefer The Bourne Supremacy (my favorite of the series) to The Bourne Identity, though the latter is better than The Bourne Ultimatum (due to certain aspects of the plot. Though I feel many posters here give it more credit than it's due, it was still solid, nonetheless).



With all that said, the Bourne trilogy should remain a trilogy. There is nothing more to tell, and a next would just be an unnecessary film, only to please the fanboys.

Something different, not Bounre running around being chased while dudes in ties sit in a room full of monitors and shout "get me a sit rep on Bourne ASAP We need a visual people!!"

Yeah man, it's weird...
But for example, I love Identity because damn, it was so shocking to see Matt kicking ass like that, and the story was so good, and the music, and the action....all great IMO, and Marie was a regular chick, not your typical bimbo, the Treadstone assassins, Conklin, etc, you know, details like that!

And Supremacy, well, the story was STILL great, but added many more twists, and the stuff with Abbott and Landy was awesome, the movie was so tense, and all that.

And Ultimatum? Man, to see a pissed off Bourne! Wow! Everything that was so great for me in the first 2, was here, with extra tension, and few new (but awesome) details.

I don't know, the trilogy is super-rewatchable for me

I don't want Bourne on a "Save the world" kind of mission, that's for like James Bond I guess.
But maybe something about someone trying to blackmail him to do a mission by kidnapping Nicky or something like that? And then at the end going after the blackmailers?
Something that could show us how Bourne really acts during one of his missions, not just fighting to survive. Because we know he could be one mean SOB if needed.

I was thinking of having him living quietly somewhere working for a respectable business man in a labour type of job, the man's daughter is taken for blackmail, perhaps when she is taken Bourne is there and tries to stop them and the father sees that he is no ordinary man and asks for his help. Another possibility would be the daughter scenario but out in Thailand or somewhere, taken by slave traders and Bourne helps the father track her down and get her back. My last idea would see Bourne somehow tied up with the Mob and taking them on.

The idea I would do, is have Bourne as a rogue type working with the CIA through Pamela Landy for a common goal.

An elite assassin, another rogue agent like Bourne type that he needs to hunt. This assassin will be played by Ben Affleck, who Bourne will kill at the end.

Anyway, to move on from the daftness of some people, I'll say I was rather disappointed with the third one. Still liked it, but I suppose I expected too much. I bought it, so I may need to watch it again.

That being said, I would love to see a 4th one.

And whoever said Damon wouldn't do one obviously didn't see the interview where he didn't rule doing a fourth one out.

I finally saw Ultimatum. Really, really great movie. However, I'd only like a fourth if the makers could do even half as wonderful a job as they did with Ultimatum.

I'm not too fond with the suggestions posted here, mainly because it doesn't feel like the sort of situations Bourne would find himself in and lacks the refreshing take on a pre-existing story. I'd love for a 4th but if there isn't a story gripping enough, I think its best to leave it at ultimatum, which ended on a high note, which is rare these days.

With a fourth movie there is EASILY more story to tell, it's just doing it creatively is the problem. Here's my case: Bourne (or Webb) doesn't remember EVERYTHING about his past. He knows his role was an assassin (Identity), he remembers his first target (Supremacy) and he remembers how he was inducted into the system (Ultimatum). But there is much more in his back story that you could create and draw upon. What about his family? What about his enemies that have not had their due? I would like to see Bourne (Webb) discover more of his past and put his life back together. Stop running, start fighting. Reclaim his existence, in a way. In fact, this idea would be great for the title "Legacy" because he would be reclaiming his legacy. (BTW, I have not read the books, so I don't know if this is what happens or similar to what happens in the 4th book.)

That would be my suggestion. But I'm happy to see that Matt Damon would like to come back if the story was good. I also liked his suggestion that if he ever decided not to come back, they could acquire a different actor to fill the role and become like an American version of James Bond.

I also CANNOT wait for The Bourne Conspiracy on Xbox 360. That game looks great! And I can't wait to see what they do with the property since they have the rights to BOTH the books and the movies.
