There used to be a site that had early drafts for the 1st Spiderman movie before it was released.
Two were from David Koepp, and one was from James Cameron. Unfortunatly the site was removed due to unauthorized usage.

Digital downloads, and DVD's, forget about merchandise and tie-ins, there seperate, when it comes to really making money these two are it.

Why have family guy and Futurama come back after being cancelled, because of the success of the DVD sales showing there's an audience, because of this studio's are now thinking differentley about TV show's eventually things like sweeps won't matter because alot of shows will be made for DVD why have advertisers paying you, only by twisting your arm on what to show like cliffhangers and full on expensive action episodes when you can just give the audience the show they wanna watch and they can watch it when they want.

Same for Movies, this will be huge on DVD, Blu-Ray and HD DVD plus whatever digital downloads will be going on, maybe through I-Tunes once the new I-Pod comes out, so whatever it's doing now will be increased, giving more than enough for the sequel.

This is true, people are always on about how the 4th of july weekend is great for movies, maybe it was once, or maybe because of certain circumstances a few movies have been hits, but nothing has really been that HUGE, look at all may releases, everything action wise is huge, Spider-Man 1 and 2 both huge both released in may, X-Men 2 and 3 both released in may both great on the money X-3 more so.

Iron Man may just benefit from a may release, if you think about it, january and february are slow in terms of movies, may is when the summer blockbusters start and are the first people rush out to see.

ok then, explain how Hulk, which was critically acclaimed, made more than SR in it's first week, and had great DVD sales, hasnt gotten a sequel yet? The answer, it made money but not enough (and it had a smaller budget than SR), and 99 times out of 100 DVD sales will not save a bad movie's bottom line.

This movie will not get a sequel unless something drastic happens in the next 2 days. After that the steamroller that is called POTC2 will squish this little film under its boot heel. I don't like it but that is a fact at this juncture. This film is under performing in a big way WB is sweating it. The only thing left is to see who gets the axe over a remake of a 30 year old movie nobody wanted. They should've started fresh and the problems this movie is staring at at the moment would've never happened.

It probably is overrated, I won't disagree with that at all. However, it is a movie that will make money as people are actually looking forward to seeing it. I didn't particularly like the first one but as we can all see there is a lot of people that did and they WILL pay the money to see the sequel as opposed to plopping it down for a movie that is being heralded as under performing. Their choice will be POTC2 as this is not an unknown to them while SR is. Superman is dead in the water in 2 days. It's sad but it is in the end WB's own fault.

But if the film doesn't hold up well next weekend, I wouldn't be surprised to see Singer replaced. After all, X3 still managed to clean up without him.

It's an interesting question though, since I doubt they'll want to go back to trying another reboot.

Hulk managed to make more in its opening weekend, but failed miserably after that. About an $80 mill domestic opener and only went on to make another $50 mill domestically. Eek. The bad word of mouth just killed it. After opening weekend, people starting avoidong Hulk like the plague. DVD sales were good though because as time passes, people who skipped it get curious and want to check out the film.

Worldwide, Hulk did make some BO profit for the studio, but not much. DVD sales were successful, but not quite successful enough to call for a quick sequel. This is why the studio scrapped Ang Lee is making a totally new spin on the Hulk sequel that is STILL waiting to start production.

Its also likely that they will drop any idea of following on from the donner films, as the financial reception for this one hasnt been anywhere near what they hoped for. so I think for that reason a reboot is most likely. which will probably mean all new cast as well. in which case i think you are looking at 5 years before any new one comes out

Im not sayiong he was/wasnt good in the role, I aint seen it. thats why i havent said I thought the movie was good or bad. but IF they decide to replace singer, then the first thing any new director may do is recast it. Might as well go the whole hog.

I still am wondering why Singer, Routh etc havent mentioned the box office results, or given any interview or have heard from the WB that the sequel is a go. I remember Batman reviews were great the same as Supes, and the following weekend, we were already getting Joker casting speculations on the sequel. Nothing yet from the wb is alittle bizarre, plus they didnt make there 110 million goal on Tuesday that the WB head was predicting
