Rise of the Silver Surfer BOX OFFICE Discussion

I will say about 230mil+ in the US and over 500mil+ Worldwide.
92mil opening weekend.

If those 3 things happen, Avi will be doing a Tom Cruise all over Operas couch, and despite what some say, it could very well happen. I said 300 domestic was not impossible, and I will stand by that. But 250 would be a 61.6 % increase over the 1st movies domestic. That would be outstanding.

$450+ million worldwide, $200+ million domestic, $75 million opening weekend!!

I will be posting the offical polls on the 15th of this month. Then you can put your money where your mouth is. :woot: And in advance I would like to have them stickeyed. Thank you.

OK, here is what I think.

$10+ OW
$20+ DO
$30+ WW

I'm sure this will happen! :D

Regards,
Maestro

And what makes yours MORE official than this one?????:whatever: :cwink:

Just add a poll to this thread,there is no need for a second one

My nephew saw S-3 on opening night and all he would tell me was "they messed up Venom" but I will still go see this movie later, probably next week. I wonder if the fan support will wane a bit earlier than usual for it. Makes the Fox suits look like they picked a good opening spot for the FF. I am hoping for a 70 million opening weekend in the US.

Guys be realistic, There's no way FF2 will have a 100million opening or more 70 million, Fantastic Four isn't really big. With Shrek, Pirates and Spidy still in theathers in June, FF2 will have a slight chance going in to #1.

Opening weekend- more or less 55million
U.S.- more or less 160 million
Worldwide- less than 375 million

That would be dissapointing Gwen lookalike, anything below 60 million opening weekend would be weak. The first movie had like 56 million and needs to improve on that. Fortunately word of mouth on this movie should be good as it is looking to be a real winner so 200 million is within reach.

I expect it to reach 200 million domestic at least.

I think it will make more than the first one, but I can't really give an estimate.

Remember people, this poll is for the final domestic gross, not just opening weekend.

Um, why? :huh: That would be redundant. This one is fine, and a poll can be added closer to release. In fact, watch this....

Et viola.

I think Carp has become the box office guy, which is ok, I think he does a good job on that and we should celebrate his contributions. It is like what Malus does with the Covers, that is like a pillar. I still think that for better or worse J alba's lover should have been given more leeway with the images stuff. Now everything has slowed down on that front because no one had the passion that he did, and now Albafan & LS are working overtime I think keeping that in order.

I think that the FF hype is better served when we give these posters their head with guidance from the Mods of course and you will see more members following in their footsteps.

I think we would grow as a forum much faster if we encourage posters like these, they just need the right encouragement and direction.

And yes LS I know that you tried real hard with Jalbalover.

I don't think it is a good idea to put all the responsability on the mods to do everything. I see that that is what the pics and video thread has become to a large extent and that is a beatiful effort by the way and is obviously more balanced than what J alba was doing.

I know Albafan tried to pick that up but now she is a mod and is working overtime keeping us in check and I don't want her to burn out again. I recall everyone asking where (and I always wondered who she was) she was all the time before she came back and I find her to be kind of like a Sue Storm, she just seems to be keeping things together.

Any way I thought I would throw my two cents in on something I have noticed.

I think this one is gonna get across the 200 mark,it's got a good date and looks to be spectacular.

Uh, the ad blitz hasn't even started.
Pirates 2 will have been out for 3 weeks when FF2 debuts.

FF2 will easily be #1 its first weekend. If the promotional campaign is up to snuff, I wouldn't be surprised to see it do about $65-75 million.
22 million people just saw the trailer with Spidey 3, and tv spots will be all over the season-ending episodes of Heroes, Lost, American Idol, etc.

As far as worldwide, no clue. Considerably more than last time, though. The world's appetite is has definitely been whet by the obscenely huge success of Spidey 3. Right now the door is wide open for the next superhero flick.

Okay, I'm placing my vote now...there's enough marketing and buzz now to gauge how this thing might go.

By the way, I just heard Spidey 3's weekend was "adjusted" up from 148 million after final tallies.
It grossed 151 million domestically. :wow:

Looks like Fox knew what they were doing by holding the final FF2 trailer for Spidey 3's release.

There is a new FF ad that aired on ESPN today, the Thing was playing with toys I think.

I am curious why this was moved?

Fantastic Four 2 will face a lot of competition in the weeks following its release. Evan Almighty, Ratatouille, Live Free or Die Hard and Transformers roll out over the three weekends following FF 2's release on the 15th.

Fox has a great marketing department, but it'll have its attention divided in June between their two big budget summer films: FF 2 and Live Free or Die Hard. FF 2 has the benefit of going first, but may not get as much follow-on marketing support as it would if Fox wasn't releasing Die Hard 4 just two weeks later.

Historically it's very unusual for a sequel to have a box office increase of more than 35% in comparison to its predecessor. Bigger jumps usually only happen when a small film becomes a home entertainment phenom and then gets a much bigger sequel (Austin Powers, for example).

Bearing all of that in mind, my predictions for FF 2 are:

$ 65 million opening weekend.
$ 165 million domestic.
$ 365 million worldwide.
