Total agreement there. It seems near-impossible for a singular creative vision to survive the blockbuster-making process, leading to films that may look and sound stunning but are vacant in most every meaningful respect. I didn't see a single tentpole flick this summer that didn't have me wondering "what were they thinking?" at least a few times.

You know that comment about how near-impossible for a creative vision to survive the blockbuster process appears to be so true. We have been privy to that process as outlined by writers for the Xmen and FF comic book.
My vote is that the creators be given more freedom. Someone should study the Lord of the Ring model.
Now if the problem on the studio's part is a lack of confidence in a director I suggest they clone the Speilbergs, Jacksons and others of their stature.
However seeing as how cloning is still illegal and not yet perfected (you might end up with Ewe Boll, ......why does he get so much grief lol) then maybe they have to take more risk and take puppet strings off of the directors that they do hire. Give them more creative leeway while setting the budgets, only intervening when things are obviously out of control.
I mean why was there such a rush to kill Cyclops, oh he went over to DC. Maybe its a Marvel vs DC thing over at Fox, who knows.
Wow.... this really weird and really waaay off topic but unconfirmed reports state that Owen Wilson may have attempted suicide. He is hospitalized is all that is certain.
I saw that story, wow... he is one of my favorite actors... glad to know that he is ok, but what could have triggered this......., life can be so hard sometimes. I hope he gets better and finds some joy in life again.
Anyway, thank God he is alive. The dude is the picture of cool.
