Transformers 2 seems to have the "Dead Man's Chest Effect" in that despite the quality of the film, it seems to be making a ton of money based on the original being such a huge hit.

Based on how well these sequels to well received blockbusters do, despite the quality, do you think that a Batman 3 film would break all records?

Yes...its going to break records for the opening weekend for sure (assuming it is released on a friday).
I don't know about domestic total...it'll be hard to make 50o+million again. I think it has a better chance at hitting 1 billion worldwide than doing 500+million domestic again.

I'm sure it will break IMAX, early AM box-office, and possibly every other record in its path

Unless it has the Joker I don't think it'll match TDK's numbers.
