Transformers Box Office Thread

these are great number. To be opening at the start of a dayum week these are good numbers!

I want to see it again.

But on the other hand, I understand completly now why this movie opened on a monday night with full release on tuesday. HPOOTP opens just a week later. That will own all, I think lol. I thought HPOOTP would be the move of the year and it was my favorite book but, Transformers was just so dayum exciting to me! I hope the numbers rise some more.

Harry Potter will be terminated!

HP: 250 mil - 275 mil.

One thing people often forget is that the last HP movie in the SUMMER didn't do that hot.

I'm not into the whole Potter stuff, but even when I saw TF, the crowd shat their panties for the HP trailer. I think Potto will murder at the BO.
 
When does Harry Potter come out? If it is next weekend on the 13th then Transformers is going to make some huge money. It's already almost at 100 mil and it hasn't reached the actual weekend. The numbers are going to skyrocket this weekend.
 
Potter is being released early on the 11th. I'm so excited because Order is my favorite book :o
 
I mainly want to see Oldman kick some ass. I haven't read the books so Im hoping he does.

Azkaban is mine...but I don't like Gambon. He sucks as Dumbledore to me. OftP is my least favorite.
 
Congrats to the Transformers fans because you clearly have a winner here. I enjoy Michael Bay films but I've have not been very optimisic about this film at all. The newer TV spots and footage looks pretty damn good compared to the early footage which I thought was hokey...but most of you here loved it. Looks like a massive opening 5 days is coming. Hell 65 million before Thursday??? Where were you guys for the animated film when that floppped? Can this sustain in the second weekend or will there be about a 60% drop??? I think with the box office opening spreading out Tues-Sun it'll clearly minimize the drop. I still feel this film has a very small female audience so if it holds up in the second weekend with that going against it and Potter than it's getting a load of repeat viewings. Everyone I know who saw it...loves it. I'm happy as hell because #1 alot of my friends have been dying for this film (not me), and #2 it's a sci-fi film which is my preferred genre though sci-fi/horror is more my taste. In any event congrats to those who supported this. I have not seen it yet but that's because I was on vacation. Even though I've been pessimistic about it...I was hoping for a good film because it is entertainment. Obviously my prediction of it having a hard time breaking 200 was dead wrong. Can the box office possibly spike up on Fri and Sat after all of this money made already? If it can bring in an average of 25 per day Thur-Sun...that's 165 million pretty damn quick. The way things are going though it'll probably be closer to 190 million in that span. Jesus.

I do hope you're right about the 190 by monday but I'll be very happy with a 150 by then. I do think that Harry Potter will take away a good chunk of Box Office but I also am VERY surprised at the amount of females I know who are very happy with the way the film turned out. They went in not interested in Transformers and came out loving it. So I hope word of mouth is good amongst the female audience. This movie is killing in Asia already so I see a good overseas pull. As for you watching the movie...its a mixed bag. Very mixed. Hope you like it.

I know my little sister (who really has no interest in any sci-fi action movies) really wanted to see Transformers. I think the movie just looks so cool that everyone wants to check it out.

the order owned! i didnt read them untill last year..all 6 in a month! i liked it better than HBP.

But Tranformers...its on track to make back its budget?? which was how much? As long as it gets more than or double its budget im fine!!

Wow. That's fairly inexpensive, compared to the $250 mil SM3 and $300 POTC3.
