Box office*

The numbers would have been solid, if only this didn't cost $180 million (production). I thought, this would be a bit cheaper to produce, like $120 million similar to movies like Deadpool and Logan under Fox.
Originally i heard and read 150 million and that would have been fine too.

Between Quantumania, The Marvels, and this, hopefully it's at least become perfectly clear to Marvel that crossing over characters from Disney+ shows provides exactly zero hype boost. Hopefully they never again try to rely on Disney+ shows for crossover hype.

Unless that Young Avengers movie happens.
Isn't Kamala one of the candidates for that? And look how her appearance in Ms. Marvel the show, didn't boost the interest for The Marvels.

I feel like Young Avengers are just going to look like budget Avengers and would cheapen the brand. Why give us Young Avengers when they could instead give us an Avengers movie with Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, a couple from X-Men, Deapool, some from Fantastic 4, Ghost Rider, Punisher, etc. instead.

Movie got about 2 more weeks, unless Final Destination is a stunner then it is 1 more week.
We know Lilo & Stich along with Mission Impossible will be taking up the theater space.
I just found out today, that Mission Impossible is being released in other countries next Saturday/Friday.

So this movie only has few days internationally, until those two are out.

The budget for this movie needed to be around 150 million like shang chi for the break even point to be 400 million or marketing needed to be less then 100 million like brave new world for the break even point to be 425 million. It may not reach 450 million the break even point. It could but it may not.

At least it will be close to the break even point even if it flops so clearly this movie will not be another the marvels, flash and joker.
Really good movie by the way.

Then there is this.
DC and Marvel films
Alot these films for 2020's were plan before covid happen. DC and Marvel films would have made more money but because of covid it slow the momentum. Change of plans happen, films kept getting push back, plus the strikes, movies not showing in china and when they do show now less folks in china do not want to see these movies. There is also the war in eastern europe so movies from the west can't be seen in two countries there and the streaming boom etc.. Another thing when ever a movie/tv universe expands there is more of chance people will not see everything and more of chance to nitpick things as well. It happens to every connected universe in time, more so if they are connected from movies to tv from star trek, star wars, marvel, dc etc..
Then some folks start complaining about homework.

At this point, I'm not sure how much we can trust Disney's announced budgets. The amount of changes certain budgets have had, in order to make their failures worst, is suspicious. As is the filmakers they are trying to protect.

It is behind Shang Chi because Shang Chi had a Labor Day boost, but it is going to outgross Cap 4.

Well, with Final Destination's reviews, I think it may be a bit more destructive than originally thought.

Top international markets:

Marvel’s latest superhero adventure has topped the box office for two consecutive weekends and is projected to add $15 million to $18 million in its third. “Thunderbolts” has grossed $127.7 million domestically and $271 million globally to date. The tentpole has been holding better than recent MCU installments, but “Thunderbolts” cost $180 million to produce and will struggle to get out of the red in its theatrical run without some serious staying power.

$136,812,479, finally outgrossed The Incredible Hulk in North America.

$143,166,643, finally outgrossed Venom: The Last Dance in North America.
