gildea said:Dunno as bendis's run was centred round the 'outing' of DD I don't think you could remove DD from the story IMO.
He was in costume more than most seem to think also.

Sin Eater said:You are aware of how immature it is to use the word "newbie", right? Trust me when I tell you that living on a messageboard like you do, just so I'm not a "newbie"in your eyes, is far from my priority, but if you want to believe you have some status over me in life because of your 37,000 posts on an internet messageboard, go for it. I won't laugh too hard.
Dude, that stuff is fine and dandy but I don't think each of those writers' works over that time period could possibly stand against great DD, great Powers, great Alias, and still-great back then USM. Seriously that's some ridiculous qualityTheCorpulent1 said:For the consideration of the Eisner's '02 and '03 awards, it'd be what they were writing in '01 and '02. For Morrison that was some of the best stuff from New X-Men like "Riot at Xavier's," and the sadly underrated Marvel Boy mini-series. For Rucka it was Queen & Country, various Batman stuff, an issue of The Tangled Web of Spider-Man that I loved, and Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia.
Which is why I said it comes down to personal taste. I wasn't reading DD, Powers, or Alias at the time, so all I had to judge Bendis on was USM. I think I might've read Torso around that time, too, and that was good. But Rucka's stuff was better to me. Morrison was slacking a bit at the time, I think. Not Jake said:Dude, that stuff is fine and dandy but I don't think each of those writers' works over that time period could possibly stand against great DD, great Powers, great Alias, and still-great back then USM. Sin Eater said:I guess it's sad that you think being a mod is somehow status in life. How much is he making an hour/year? What's his retirement plan? How many weeks vacation does he get? I figured I'd ask you since you are up on the technical aspects of his position in life...lol
If he's a mod, maybe he shouldn't use derogatory terms toward members. Just a suggestion.![]()
Elijya said:How's that?
Did he ruin the FF?
Ghost Rider?
Dr. Strange?
Spider-Man?
The X-Men?
Punisher?
certainly not Daredevil
so, really you just don't like his Avengers? that hardly qualifies as "Marvel" in general

Even now Dan Slott is being sucked into the 'Bendis doctrine' just to remain valueable to Marvel. Slott might be changing his Merry Marvel ways on his own, but I feel it's due to the pressure of having to fit in with the 'New Marvel'.
It's not just Bendis it's also JMS and his crap. Make no mistake those guys rule the roost at Marvel, so yes I think Bendis is the worst thing to happen to Marvel.
Sin Eater said:Yep, that's exactly right. Bendis doesn't know these characters and just tries to come up with his own versions of them. If he does do research, then he doesn't retain information very well. His "write for the trade" has hurt the monthly issue more than anything he has done has helped comics.
Dan Slott obviously sees that being on the Bendis "team" will benefit his career, as he has a forum at Bendis' website and now goes to the Marvel retreats, and really, who can blame him for it. Make no mistake, getting Bendis to approve his pitch was what got his pitch greenlit, because that's how Marvel works these days.

Ed Brubaker's Captain America wasnt nominated for an Eisner because its not really Brubaker's best work. Sure, its really good but then its still no Catwoman, Gotham Central, Sleeper...maybe its on Batman level. I dont know if he was nominated for that stuff but he should have been. Hey, who know, maybe next year with Daredevil and Criminal.Sin Eater said:Captain America by Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting WASN'T even submitted for Eisner considerations, so if you're thinking throwing the word Eisner out there actually means quality or I'm supposed to be impressed, think again.
Perhaps not intelligent, but certainly mature enough not to censor the word ass when he doesnt need toSin Eater said:Bendis is a hack. He's not the most intelligent of people, but he sure does kiss a good @ss.
It could also be because those apparently superior writers' books don't make as much moneySin Eater said:That's how he keeps his job and gets plum assignments while much superior writers don't have it so good.
I know, having an opinion diffferent than yours has really been weighing on my conscience. I don't know what Im doing with my life anymore. Why can't I just bestrong enough to end it. Please Sin Eater, help me pull the triggerSin Eater said:You can believe the delusion that Bendis can write, if it helps you sleep, though.
Hmm...Sin Eater said:And comparing Bendis to Hanks? If the Eisner comment didn't discredit you, that surely did...
Yeah, Elijya's side of the argument was one that's really been discreditedSin Eater said:Bendis is a hack. He's not the most intelligent of people,
Bendis has rarely been the source of delays on his books.hippie_hunter said:Bendis is a good writer but he does have 2 major flaws:
1. Marvel gives him whatever he wants and way too much. This often causes quality fluxuations and frequent delays.
