This thread is devoted to villains and villains only. We love them for their arrogance,

their ambition,

their menace,

their dementia,

let's face it-some movies would simply get NOWHERE if it weren't for them.

Discuss.

A movie Doom, Loki, Red Skull, (Maybe a cloned Osborn) Abomination & Magneto would make an awesome team-up movie.
Maybe add Dormammu & Mephisto

Anyone want to recreat that iconic Romita cover with their move counterparts?

Bad guys rule, and one of the proof is that the best Avenger-comic is Dark Avengers!

They wouldn't be able to do that, due to rights issues. Fox has the rights to Doom and Magneto and that is not going to happen any time soon. Besides you can't have this many big villains in a 2 hour film, they would all be fighting for screen time, so most them would end up not having much to do.

If you a want a movie centered around villains, you need something smaller, like a Thunderbolts or Suicide Squad movie.

We know it can't be done, but it's nice to dream. :)

No offense, but even in dream projects, I wouldn't put all these villains in one movie to fight for screen time with each other. That's in villain groups in these movies, its usually the villain leader that gets most of the characterization.

Also perhaps we should have questions to debate in this topic, like who is the best and worst villains in these movies, something like that.

:doh:No kidding, it was an invitation to imagine it, based on the theme of the thread and the classic Romita cover image and title.

Really, "you can't"?:whatever: So you can have a movie whith 6 or 7 heroes (yeah I'm including Fury and Coulson) where each have their defining heroic moment, but if they're villains it's impossible?

Or a movie where Ocean gathers 11 master thieves, where each of them with their unique skill are showcased. Or a movie with a Dirty Dozen convicted murderers all with their shining moment are sent on suicide mission.

But if it's Marvel villains "you can't"?
Just because they are deemed villains doesn't mean you can't do a movie with an ensemble

Considering that Marvel studios have a tendency to keep their villains alive, it wouldn't be too far fetched for them to make a Thunderbolts movie.
Perhaps a mixture of the comic book team lead by Zemo with some of the movie characters like Abomination, done by way of the Warren Ellis Civil War run and we could potentially have a great film on our hands.

Skull, Whiplash, Iron Monger and Laufey are all dead.

LaSkull may still be alive, also Justin Hammer is still alive.

Justin Hammer's not much of a threat...
Red Skull might be alive out there somewhere...
Abomination is in custody...
Loki is still alive...
Uh.... that's it.

The Leader is in custody as well.

Also bare in mind that in a potential Cap sequel we're very likely to see Zemo so that opens up doors as well.

Look I'm just saying that in comparison to other comic films the villains in Marvel studios have a tendency to live, and the fact that they own the rights to Thunderbolts means that it's not outside the realm of possibility for such a villain team up.

WHo said the Leader was in custody?
Can anyone think of an example of bad villainy in an otherwise good movie?

When is the Suicide Squad movie coming out? WB mentioned it ages ago!

It was in the official comic book Avengers tie in. Black Widow swooped in and captured Sterns just as he was mutating. He's currently floating in a tank of goo somewhere in Shield custody.

Didn't know there was one? Can you post a cover or some art?

I'd like to see a Black Adam vs. Magneto fight! :woot:

Is it weird this image/idea is so obvious and palpable, has been in the zeitgeist so freaking long , I feel like it's already happened, like it already came and went.
I already saw the movie in my head.

Hmmmmm.....great thread.

I'll contribute with my top 5 bad guys from DC / Marvel, although I'll stick to film
versions, as this is a film thread. Just IMO, but here you go !

This is in order of awesomeness.

MARVEL
1. Magneto (either McKellen or Fassbender)
2. Loki ( Hiddleston, a very, very close second)
3. Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe)
4. Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina)
5. Lady Deathstrike (Kelly Hu, in X2)

and the worst.....Julian McMahon as Dr Doom, yuck ! Although honourable mention for worst sideburns goes to Liev Schrieber as Sabretooth. Strangely, I though Hugo Weaving, who's usually amazing as villains, pretty boring as the Red Skull. :(

As for DC

1. The Joker (Heath Ledger, feel like I almost don't need to say it)
2. Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer was the best although Hathaway was good)
3. General Zod ( Stamp or Shannon, although Shannon gets the edge for having a better female Hench-person, Faora, wow !)
4. Sinestro (Mark Strong, probably the only good thing about the GL movie)
5. Two-face ( Aaron Eckhart, in a very underrated performance, if you include the first 2/3 of the film in which they build the character up, so you feel sorry for him when he gets fried and goes crazy).

And the worst........ Nuclear Man in Superman IV Quest for Peace, although a special shout out for awful puns goes to Schwarzenegger in Batman and Robin.

My favs from each...

Marvel:

Doc Ock
Magneto
Loki

DC:

The Joker (Ledger)
General Zod (Both of 'em)
Two Face (Eckhart)
