Ok it might only be by a day but still, Im not complaining. Also the certificate has been released and no big surprise, its a 12A. Just thought I'd let everyone know.

12A ? doesnt seem so bad?.... TDK is suppose to push limits though

what does the rating "12A" mean compared to the normal "12"? or is it the same and i'm just stupid?

now they need to bring the austrian release date forward, damnit.

12 didn't let people under 12 in, 12a means under 12s can come if accompanied by an adult.

The "12A" means anyone under the age of 12 can go see the film, as long as they are acompanied by an adult or someone over the age of 12.

incorrect, only an adult can accompany an under 12 to a 12A.

No, you are not stupid at all, the people who thought up the 12A rating are stupid. It is the same as a 12 rating but at the same time its essentially the same as a U and PG because kids, no matter what their age, as long as they are with an adult can see a 12A. Its really annoying.

So we're getting it on the 24th now?

Man they have changed their minds at the absolute last hour.

Yeah, the "12A" certificate is only used in theatres. It was introduced when the first Spider-Man was released, because all the kids were complaining that they couldn't get in too see it.

that seems to be the stupidest rating system ever. o_Ô

Im pretty sure. My sister told me because she saw a TV spot while watching the Sunday night project and I missed it (watching Family Guy) But yeah pretty sure we're getting it on the 24th

Actually it was for The Bourne Identity and then Spider-Man was re-released to capitalise on it. But yes, its dumb, nor is it used for DVDs.

I'll take a look at this new release date thing.

Thanks for the add ups

I'm seeing on the 23rd late show.

we austrians only got a rating system for movies while they are running in the cinemas, when they come out, we've got the dvd's from germany. so, actually, we don't got a real rating system at all - i don't think that this is a good thing, becaus every kid by the age of ten can walk into the dvd shop and is allowed to buy almost every dvd he wants. we only got our own dvd-rating system for movies that are produced here in austria, so - actually - i was wrong when i said that the uk has got the stupidest rating system, instead this award goes to my home country.

Indeed.

Guys, I've been looking around and unless this was very recently changed and nobody has picked it up yet, the release date is still 25th. Maybe your sister saw ads for the advanced screenings?

Anyway, major theatres are showing it on the 23rd, the Odeon in Manchester for instance has a single showing at 8pm, before giving it 'propper' advanced screenings on the 24th, then it goes into wide release on the 25th.

Me and a mate have tickets booked for a special screening at 8pm on Wednesday the 23rd :) It's at the IMAX in the Manchester Printworks and each person to attend receives a special, numbered, A3 holographic poster

Can't wait :D

See you there.

By the way even though it looks like this thread is a little.. untrue, its still nice to have a UK TDK thread. Somewhere to ***** about the week's wait.

Well not to piss on anyone's bonfire, as i'm glad that there's another british based thread lol but the 24th showing isn't the official release date, it's technically an advanced preview, albeit one day, but a preview just the same, release date is still the 25th, but who's counting what's a day between friends. Anyone gonna be at the five o'clock showing at the imax in london(waterloo)

I disagree - I think the BBFC were absolutely right in determining that the decision as to whether a child can see a certain film or not should rest with the parents - as it should do. If irresponsible parents choose to take their children to something like The Dark Knight, then that is their own fault. If you don't treat people with the respect to make their own decisions then they'll inevitably end up making bad ones.
