If they wanted to have a Pacific North West (ie. Washington State) scene then I'm sure they would film that in Vancouver and have it stand in for Washington State. It's just cheaper that way. That Seattle Waterfront scene at the end of in Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol? Vancouver. The entirety of Twilights (except part 1) that was supposed to be Oregon (at least what I'm told...I would not watch that trash! )? Vancouver. Heck the high school in those movies is my high school! *sigh*

Realistically, that scene would have been something like:

Charles: "Coexistence blah blah blah"

Erik: "Can't trust the humans blah blah blah"

Random tourist: "Hi can you take a picture of me and my girlfriend please??"

Actually that was done using a green screen or what you call it.They never went to DC

And Singer's far, far smarter about politics in these films than Vaughn or Rats (shudder) could ever be...so I think we're in for something interesting!

Bryan's done the best film In series-X2.While I consider First Class a bit better than
X-men remember he had his hand very much In that as story writer and hands on producer.

Bryan being gay understands the methaphor better than english Vaughn or hack Ratner.

I think Vaughn did it well, and First Class is my favorite in the series... however, while I won't blame X3 sucking on Ratner, I don't think Ratner would do it well even under good circumstances. I think Singer will do it justice though.

They may not actually film in DC but might be taking reference photos to use when building sets/cgi later on. They did that on the first X-Men. Singer and his crew went to NYC and went inside the Statue of Liberty head to take pics of it for reference to use while building sets for the film's climax, for the shoot in Vancouver.
