Bryan Singer teases X vs. FF crossover

Please, no. I haven't been too crazy about any of the X/F4 cross overs I've read in the source material over the years, and the movies have no reason to smash the teams together other than to chase after Avengers level cashola.

Fox had both franchises since the beginning, and when they made the first FF, they couldn't even acknowledge mutants existing in that franchise. The scene where the press is first finding out about the Fantastic Four, and speculating their origins, could have easily tossed in a throwaway line about whether or not they were mutants. It irked me then, as a youngster in the theater.

Now with the new F4 on the way, it remains to be seen if it will in fact be an actual franchise. So what, they go the DC route and assume throwing the X-Men in with them will allow them to reap the box office rewards?

Granted, Singer didn't confirm it will happen, just that the idea is kicking around. Which I'm pretty sure Mark Millar said when he was hired as some sort of a "creative consultant" at Fox, years ago, somewhere after(?) First Class if I recall correctly. And since then, I don't think he's mentioned anything at all. Don't recall his name appearing on any Fox films credits either. Here they had one of the creators from the comic books, who has written great stories for both teams, and he's not even involved? I've been wondering about his position with Fox for a while and I don't think anyone has the answer, at least, I haven't come across it myself.

Eh, I always liked the concept, I just never seen it done well, though.

He can tease it all he wants. I remain convinced its a contractual impossibility.

Either Singer doesn't know what he's talking about, or he's saying what he/Fox would like to do in case the lawyers can work out a new contract deal.

Basically this.

Plus Fox is hoping this BS will sell more 4stic tickets to people who don't know any better.

I have no doubt that they have had extensive conversations about it, but I'm still pretty confident that it will never happen.
And really, who wants it to happen? It'd be a sad knock-off of the MCU and DCCU.

Well, it’s complicated. Because none of the X-Men movies have acknowledged the notion of a sort of superhero team — the Fantastic Four. And the Fantastic Four acquire powers, so for them to live in a world where mutants are prevalent is kind of complicated, because you’re like, “Oh, you’re just a mutant.” Like, “What’s so fantastic about you?”

Right, right. Exactly, “So, I guess we’ll go to school now. We’ll go to Xavier’s school.” No, it is, they live in discrete universes.

I don't see how they would cross over, unless Reed finds a way to travel to a parallel dimension or something where mutants exist, but that just seems far fetched. Also, the new X-men team operates in a different decade.

Agreed. I've said this before in the X-men forums (where I was greeted with immense hostility), because it makes no sense. To cross over these two properties they will have to cook up the most convenient, contrived inter-dimensional travel story where the FF travel back in time to the 80's to an alternate dimension where the 80's X-men happen to be. It's a ridiculous idea that, again, no one really wants.

It's not going to happen. The Fantastic Four movie will bomb or at least get panned critically. There will be zero demand for a cross-over.

You sure it's gonna bomb?

LOL! MCU, DCCU and the KMARTCU.

Seriously though ever since Marvel started making their own films Fox and Sony found themselves getting away with less and less. So when Disney swooped in they put a lock on all the crap they were getting over with. So the idea of them getting Marvel's consent to do this weak imitation crossover is highly unlikely.

Sure Singer can talk about it. H3ll, all Fox has done in the last 6 years is "talk" about crossovers. It's apparently enough to pacify those who keen on drinking their Koolaid to begin with.

If the upcoming F4ntastic Four is anything less than a success, then no, they won't do it.

I'm of the opinion that the FFINO reboot will be successful enough to make its budget back and satisfy the X-men fans that are looking forward to it, but I have my doubts that even a modest success would warrant a kickstart to this supposed crossover.

I hope your right but sadly Fox isn't beyond force feeding movie goers crap otherwise they would've taken Marvels offer and spared us this God awful reboot in the first place.

With no 3D Domestic Box office holds the key. I routing for a 55 or lower RT rating and a $35M (or lower) OW. I believe Fox realizes this to, which is why they've sent Singer to rescue.

Before that, 4stic didn't even exist to him. H3ll, even the actors of either Fox-Marvel franchise would rather crossover to the MCU before they'd cross the street in the Fox parking lot to say hello to each other.

I don't see Marvel allowing this crossover unless Marvel gets Fox to cross their casts over with the MCU at a later date.
