i liked Kate a lot too. Never really cared for Justine.

I liked Darla tons better on Angel than Buffy, but does that really count :p

I also liked Lila later on much more than early seasons. Cordelia had her moments on Buffy but before she became Godlike on Angel, she was probably my favorite other than Angel. I also appreciate Wes a lot more now that i've seen what he started out with on Buffy

Wes is quite possibly the best character in the entire Jossverse. From his first episode in Buffy as a snooty ass Watcher to how he is in the last two seasons of Angel, I don't remember any character having that kind of transformation.

No Spike love? The single greatest character Joss Whedon has ever created? Psssssssh. For real though, Spike, Angel and Wesley were easily the best characters. Then, Fred and Willow.

i never really jumped on the Spike bandwagon. at times he felt like the B-sde version of Angel.

mind you, i didn't hate him, but he's kinda just there for me

But he had personality! Lol I watched the show mainly through reruns on FX years ago and I just thought Spike was the man. I didn't much like what they did with him but he was always the most fun to me

maybe i'll like him more during this rewatch i'm on.

I always felt Spike was the best written character, where as Wes was the character who evolved the most once the series was done.

As far as Angel being the Angel b-side, I don't really agree, but I don't wanna get into one of those long winded debates. All I'll say is that as many similarities as the two in-souled vampires have, they have more dissimilarities. Angel changed because of his soul. Spike changed for his soul.

Spike is far from the greatest character, imo. I thought they "woobified" him up too much in the later seasons to the point that it felt like fan-service. Not a popular opinion, I know.

I much preferred Angel. Not as a match for Buffy necessarily (I preferred her single), just as a more interesting character in general, imo. Spike did get the best lines, though, I'll give him that.

And Wes was a better character than both, imo.

Spike and Fred are my favorite Buffyverse characters, but I love all the buffyverse main cast. Well except Connor...cause **** him. And Gunn, Im ambivalent towards him.

Ugh YESSSS!!!!

Wesley is my favorite Joss character by far. Hes one of the best developed characters I've ever seen. Even compared to shows like Game of Thrones and other things I'm obsessed with, Wes is such a well written, acted and developed character. Tragic.

In high school I was obsessed with Spike. I had a bit of a man crush on him. I dressed as him for Halloween a few times. The 70s outfit came out pretty great hah. I was such a poser. Like Andrew when he wore the leather coat.

Wes was definitely the best written character. I also love what they did with Fred and Cordy. It's also amazing to see how much Cordy is like Buffy. Their stories are very similar. I think even joss said that Buffy's story is basically told through Cordelias.

Cordelia is such a great character. As sappy as it sounds, it's a damn shame Angel didn't try to be with her until it was too late.

As for Spike, I like him. I prefer villain Spike to anti-hero Spike, but I still like him. And I enjoyed the banter between Angel and Spike as well as every single flashback scene with them, Druscilla, and Darla.

I never liked Connor.

I started to like her once I started watching reruns, but during the original run, I hated her because my precious Fred died. The Spike/Illyria banter was gold, though.

I always thought Cordy and Angel worked best as besties/brother/sister.

I liked Cordy/Angel and Buffy/Spike more than Buffy/Angel. But I do love the whole tragedy of Buffy S2. I didn't like how Angel went back to being crazy about Buffy again after the whole Cordelia thing. It was as if the writers assumed a lot of people came over from Buffy and never watched 1-4.

It's weird at the beginning of Angel watching Doyle's crush on Cordelia knowing where she goes with Angel. I was so rooting for Doyle/Cordy. But what sold me on those relationships was just how realistically close the characters got, one step at a time over a long period of time. I felt the love because we saw it grow from nothing. Buffy and Angel basically fell in love at first sight.

Illyria was amazing and so short lived, which makes it even more tragic.

I wouldn't have been surprised if they actually had gone with Cordy and Doyle, had Glenn Quinn not passed away and they brought Doyle back like they planned.

I dunno because he died midway through season 4 and C/A was already a thing. Maybe though...

It would have been great to have him back. Sometimes I imagine what the show would have been like if they kept him, as well as everyone else like Wes and Gunn. What would he have sung at Caritas? U2?

It's good that they never really got to be together though. Like they were never really meant to be together. There's never a good relationship on these shows for more than a few minutes before someone dies. And the ones that last longer either end badly or are dirty and destructive.

Oh yeah I forgot about Willow and Kennedy. I didn't realize it at first but someone made the point somewhere that Willow loved Tara not because she was always deep down homosexual, but that she just found her soulmate. She fell in love with her.

I think they could have done something better with Willow in S7. She didnt need another relationship for her to have a happy ending.

It would have been cool if Willow in the finale calling the spirit world like tapped into Tara or something. Then turns white.

I just wish when it came to Willow that they made it more like she is bisexual instead of just making her full on lesbian when it was clear that she was attracted to guys.

This. Even David and Charisma thought so.
Except for when they didn't. But then they did! But then they didn't. And then did! Didn't. Come on, they thought what they thought at the times they said what they said. Either way, it's irrevelent. The characters obviously didn't think of eachother as "brother and sister" in the show. And that was something that existed in the last quarter in season 2.
