Fantasy Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire - Part 3

This is such a hot take, but as far as season 4, besides the This Year’s Girl/Who Are You two parter, my favorite episode is still Wild At Heart.

I loved Veruca lol.
Oz was too normal for this group and he was a werewolf. :o

Seth and Alyson had such great chemistry. As much as I like Amber Benson (and Tara in general), she didn’t have that same kind of chemistry with Alyson.

The lesbian hookup in the show that SHOULD’VE happened was a Fuffy pairing. When Eliza and SMG interact (particularly in S3), there’s this smoldering tension that SMG doesn’t share with Boreanaz or Marsters.

Restless and Hush. Two of my favorite TV episodes in existence.

Charisma hasn’t said much about the Buffy news on social media. Maybe she’s in negotiations to guest star.
I doubt that. That's to much heavy lifting for a pilot. Also doesn't help that disney refused to let Audible do a s2 of her slayer series.

Its an uncomfortable thing to process for sure - it's hard to sit with the idea that someone can be capable of horrible behaviour/attitudes in some areas AND still be capable of profound/deep emotive thoughtful writing in others.

P.s. Also LOVE The Body.

“The Body” is one of the best hours on television. It is incredibly painful and moving to watch because it’s so… real. I still get furious that Whedon did not even get an Emmy nomination for writing and SMG for actress for that episode. It shows how versatile SMG is acting wise.

Season 5... I still think the show should have ended there, but I get the arguments that Buffy dying so young is so unnecessarily tragic. I just hate Season 6 so much. 😭

We never would have gotten Once More With Feeling, Tabula Rasa, Conversations with Dead People, Selfless, or Lies My Parents Told Me if it had ended there, and those are all some of the best episodes of the series for me. Also, despite my issues w/ S7, Chosen was a much more satisfying ending for all the characters than The Gift would have been.

Ugh a Spike episode. 😮‍💨

But we got Junkie Willow, Depressed Buffy, Spuffy rape scene, and Giles leaves. It's such a depressing season of television. Chosen was a good finale, but so much BS to get there.

Only one of those I’m actually mad about is the Spike rape scene. Depressed Buffy was actually a great story to tell imo. And if Giles didn’t leave, we couldn’t have gotten his epic return. Junkie Willow was poorly handled but it was clearly where the character was going, even in S5, so I feel like it was a necessary story to tell eventually. Just wish Noxon & Co had been less heavy-handed with it.

I don’t love S6 at all, but I’m still glad we got it, and S7. The series as a whole would be less well-remembered if it had ended with The Gift imo. OMWF alone probably left one of its biggest cultural footprints.

^ They're shown casually drinking from time to time if I recall. They go to the Bronze and stuff. Xander drinks a lot when he breaks up with Anya.

I loathe Season 6. The musical is great. The rest is not. I like enough about 7 to be glad the show continued, though I'd concede that it was running on fumes by then.

See, I really loved Season 6... but I was heavily depressed and abusing drink and drugs at the time, so it's no surprise it resonated!

I think they did a good job with the subject matter, but it was for sure a drastic change in tone.

I'm surprised none of them became alcoholics. :o

I have such a weird love-hate relationship with season six.

I appreciate it more as an adult, because once you've done some living and gone through some pain in your life, the storylines they tackled are very relatable in their own way. Depressed Buffy and Willow's addiction specifically, I identified with in certain variations.

I just wish they'd actually invested more in Dawn because there was so much growth that character could've had that year, but they did their best to make up for that in S7.

I'm almost to season 6 in my rewatch and im dreading it. 20 years later and I still despise Spuffy and the entire storyline. I tend to love the first half of the season but hate everything after OMWF up to the like the final 3 episodes. I miss Buffys spark that she loses for the remainder of the series.

One would definitely think that they would've had Dawn grow up more with losing her mom and Buffy so close together but...they dont do that much and they just sweep all "The Key magical portal gateway" thing under the rug that had SO MUCH POTENTIAL for Dawn.

And they really should've just killed off Hank Summers if he was never going to be shown again or do anything for his daughters except outright abandon them.
