BvS BvS: Early Tweet Discussion Thread (NO SPOILERS) - Part 4

CBM fans barely possess individual thought anymore, they just prescribe to the views of others.

It's so sad.

I swear half the people who don't like MOS don't like it purely because it is rotten on Rotten Tomatoes.

The fact that someone not liking this movie can cause a reaction in someone is astounding.

I remember a review for Batman Begins which said "only morons will like this" or something to that effect.

Again, we've had numerous instances of films getting positive tweets only to getting less than stellar reviews.

And again that doesnt mean that is what is happening here no matter how much you want it to be so. Lets be honest with everyone you havent been a fan of this project in any way so you are no more biased by giving credence to the negatives as the rest are by giving credence to positives.

How many times have positive tweets come before movies that were well liked? I will hang up and listen...

A lot. In this thread alone several people were scrabbling after Joe's opinion like he's an informed or credible source of information.

CBM fans barely possess individual thought anymore, they just prescribe to the views of others.

As an actual film critic, I don't let anyone's opinion phase me. I just found it interesting, that's all. Joe, at least in the regards to the film's first few trailers, didn't like the film, or at least had large doubts.

We are all here, in some way, shape or form, to find out what people think, and stir our own excitement over it. At the end of the day, the entire process is silly, because our own experience, and thoughts are going to shape what we think.

I forgot about that, but yes. That did happen.

And yes, we, as a culture, give random-ass people WAY too much power over our lives. For no reason whatsoever.

You might want to check about a dozen or so pages back to what I was saying when it was only positive tweets coming through.

The faster people realize YouTubers or social media personalities are about as intelligent and educated as the average person you'll run into on the street or in a train the better off they'll be.

Just because a dude or woman have the discipline to run a popular YouTube channel doesn't make them empirical sources of information.

No movie is going to get 100% positive feedback. There are people who don't like TDK either, and don't see it as a heaven sent deity.

Just because a dude or woman have the free timeto run a popular YouTube channel doesn't make them empirical sources of information.

Fixed.

Some of us have careers.

No movie is going to get 100% positive feedback. There are people who don't like TDK either, and don't see it as a heaven sent deity.

I have a friend who likes Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises, but swears up-and-down that TDK is the most irredeemably worst movie ever made.

This. This a true statement. I will add also insight- the lack thereof in these so-called YouTube celebrities.

Exactly. I'm focused on just myself. That's how I see it :word:

so many positive tweets with obscenity that cannot be shared here:woot:

but it's about time for "reality check" here anyway:o

Or important in any other way.

I'll sometimes watch reaction videos just to see people geek out, but the moment they either seem to be faking it, or taking themselves too seriously, I'm out. That's my issue with Grace Randolph, for instance. Takes herself WAY too seriously and acts like her opinion ought to carry any weight, despite the fact that she sometimes seems like she couldn't logic her way out of the bathroom with the lights off.

A few more positives:

Superman81 ‏@ManOfSteel37013 53s53 seconds ago Best humor in BvS to me came from Fishburne and Irons but a line from Diane Lane got huge laughs from my audience.

9.5/10 and no lie Gal Gadot was so awesome! I wish I could tell you how awesome but you gotta see it

The biggest mistake you will make in your life is not buying a #BatmanvSuperman ticket

CG ‏@CarlosG_2718 6m6 minutes ago Batman V Superman was amazing!!!! Everyone go watch it!!! #BatmanvSuperman #LexLuthor

@Hammadayf 22s22 seconds ago Ben Affleck is the best batman ever. He trumps even Michael Keaton

That's all fair, I don't disagree. But the odd and mildly pathetic part is how much weight lots of users and people in general lend to someone based on them being a YouTuber or social media persona. If anyone had to have a conversation with Average Joe or Tyrone Magnus or Jaeroar they'd probably figure out really fast that these are a bunch of hype mongers who have less education on the source material they're discussing than half the users on this board.

I can name at least 10 reasonable users on here who have far more knowledge about CBMs and who are far more level-headed that deserve to have their opinions respected long before any of the so called experts like those I named above. The amount of people who swear by airheads like Jahns, Campea or Randolph is genuinely absurd. People can't make up their own minds anymore, they need some little halo effect personality to do it for them.

genuine laugh out loud moment there :hehe:

Where has @Hammadayf been? Keaton got trumped over a decade ago. ;)

...but not in their opinion, clearly, I know I know...

I saw what you said, and I have seen what you have been saying since the project was announced. I stand by my post. The vast majority of the tweets are positive, a few are middling and a super minority (like 1 or 2) hated it and you bring up how other movies were received well before they sucked. Now maybe it is a coincidence that you and a few others rain on parades every time people get hyped but I have been around fandom long enough to doubt it.

I am sorry you arent going to like this movie, and we, the fans who are hyped will stipulate that yes Craptastic Four and Green Lantern had positive reactions early on. We dont need you and others to tell us that every few pages like we are toddlers.

I apologize if I mischaracterized you, and I mean that honestly.

The only channel I subscribe to and value is Superhero News. Those guys are great, very knowledgable, very fair and they don't take themselves too seriously

The majority of the rest either like the attention too much or they feel as though their opinions count for more than the common man

It's because those youtubers are effectively a voice for fandom, they exhibit the same enthusiasm and love for these properties as everyone in this forum, so naturally people are going to want to hear the views of someone who is like them.

I'll definitely agree with you. I think the only YouTube 'personality' I'll ever put faith in, in any regard, at least in terms of intelligence, is RedLetterMedia.

That being said, most are entirely personalities, like Jahns or Stuckmann, that sell themselves, more than their knowledge, intelligence or their ability to properly critique.
