By the Bristling Beard of Odin! The Thor Thread - Part 2

Have you looked into Thor Season One from 2013, or the Son of Asgard books?

Thanks. I've got Son of Asgard, but not Thor Season One. I'll put that on my list of things to look for!

I love the art in it, but it's a retelling of Thor the movie and Thor's banishing

If you're including Thor-related characters, Stormbreaker: The Saga of Beta Ray Bill, Secret Invasion: Thor, Secret Invasion Aftermath: Beta Ray Bill - The Green of Eden, and Beta Ray Bill: Godhunter form a nice little Beta Ray Bill character arc where he loses the last of his people and deals with the fallout from that.

Cool, thanks. I've got Stormbreaker and Godhunter, but I guess I should track down both of the Secret Invasion titles. I sort of skipped that event, so I didn't really think about those tie-ins. Thanks!

It was a pretty skippable event. Basically, the only thing you need to know for the Thor/Bill parts are that the Skrulls developed new ways to imitate and combine superhumans' powers, including magic powers, and they launched an all-out attack on Earth.

Hey, while we're talking about "skippable events," do you have any thoughts on Chaos War? I just picked up Thor's 2-parter at my LCS, but should I read the main event?

Thanks again for all the suggestions!

I barely remember that mini. I think I have it tho

Yeah, Thor's 2-parter was pretty inconsequential. I tend to like stories that have deities from multiple pantheons, but other than that aspect, this doesn't seem like a very compelling story for me.

I DO remember the "God Squad" and having Herc around again

Chaos War was okay. It spun out of The Incredible Hercules, which is absolutely worth reading. But CW itself wasn't that great. You could easily skip it, especially since it doesn't result in any lasting changes to Hercules or anyone else.

Picked up Thor the Unworthy and Jane-Thor

'Marvel's Odinson' my eye!
mothaf****s got a first name, and it is Thor.

What's funny is the comic is the issue Where all the Asgardians are on the Moon and Thor and Odin can't lift Mjolnir. The only thing you see of Jane-Thor is at the tail end and she picks up Mjolnir and becomes Thor

While I love Jane Foster Thor. I am getting tired of it. Time to give Mjolnir back to it's true owner.

I really hope the 616 Thor doesn't end up with Ultimate Mjolnir. That would be borderline deal-breaker for me. I'd be tempted to drop the comic altogether.

I haven't read any of the 'ANAD' stuff...
has there been any reference to him at all so far? or to Ulty Thor's hammer??
Well I got the new issue...and
Thor ODINSON is IN the last couple pages BUT I won't completely spoil what's going on

The LCS gave me this the other day when I picked up the new Thor

Well it makes sense for the time being as to when or how what Nick said to Thor Odinson to make him unworthy Ulty Mjolnir is MAN MADE, he'd be worthy of that hammer for the time being, but I agree, I want the Odinson to be worthy again

Thor probably regained his worthiness of 616 Mjolnir right before he died in New Avengers. He lost his worthiness of the alternate version that required its wielder to be exceptionally unworthy, so it makes sense that he's now worthy of the standard version again.

I'm just saying I hope he doesn't end up with Ultimate Mjolnir permanently. I suspect he'll have it for a while, but it'd be like a personal insult to me if the original, better version gets stuck with the inferior, awful Ultimate version's hammer so that Jane can continue to wield his. Give Jane Ultimate Mjolnir, if anything. Or, better yet, destroy Ultimate Mjolnir and have a new hammer made for Jane, just like with Stormbreaker and Thunderstrike.

That poster of Jane-Thor is gorgeous, though. The guy at my shop and I were wondering who drew it. He thought it might be Frank Cho, but it's pretty unlike Cho's usual style. I thought maybe Dave Johnson. Another guy suggested Francavilla. We never did find out for sure.

The Comic shops guys said there was an Ant Man poster like that too. THEN I saw somewhere a bunch of Avengers images like it, but not sure WHERE lol

EDIT: it was a variant for issue 5 of All New Avengers. ALSO did some research. it IS Frank http://www.toonzone.net/comics/images/images/solicitations/2016-02/Marvel/THOR2015004_ChoVar.jpg

Again, I'm prepared to send a volley of angry tweets. Don't gimme a reason! :cmad:

The guy at my shop and I did more digging and it turns out it's actually MICHAEL Cho. But I guess some websites saw "Cho" and assumed Frank, since he was the only one in the industry for a long time. Michael Cho seems to be a new up-and-comer.

Didn't know there were two Cho's lol

Got my xmas-Bday gifts from my kids lol LOVE the tee shirt!
