By the Bristling Beard of Odin! The Thor Thread - Part 2

Nice. Looks like that Thor all the way on the right has been hitting Asgard's tanning salons. :awesome:

Part 1 of "The Asgard/Shi'ar War" was pretty good, by the way. I'm curious to see what the Shi'ar gods' problem with Jane is. Gladiator got a much better showing than he usually gets in Thor's comics, too. Generally, the original Thor tended to stomp all over him. :D

lol yeah that IS Clor tho, you can't see the other side of his battle damaged face lmao

Well that's good
with the way Gladiator always slapped around the X-Men, I always thought he should do a little better against Thor than he typically does

By the way, was it covered when Gladiator had his son? I never knew he had a "mate"

The very old version of Gladiator from the future was openly doubting himself before he even came to the past and he still was beating Thor to death. Thor would have been killed if not for the intervention.

True, Gladiator's held his own in the past against Thor. But Thor still usually comes out on top. Granted, the fights are usually in Thor's own comic, so there's obvious bias there.

I don't know if we ever learned who his mother was, but Kid Gladiator first showed up back in Wolverine and the X-Men as a student at the Jean Grey School. Gladiator basically sent him to boarding school there because he was being a brat back home.

I don't read x-men so that's probably why I missed it lol

funny seeing as Supes 52 has a son now lol

Not reading comics at the mo but why does Thor have He-man's Sword of Power?

Not sure, he did have a sword for alittle bit. They were trying to show Thor could use other weapons

Yeah, I loved it. It seems like the whole series is about Thor redefining himself and realizing he can be just as great a hero without Mjolnir, which is something I've always wished they'd emphasize more. Way too many people have this misconception that Thor is useless without his hammer.

What I have liked about this series is the depiction, in the first issue, that Thor is an addict. I didn't really think about it until this:

I haven't read issue 3 yet but I'm pleased that he is getting a better grip on the fact that he isn't defined by his hammer.

And yeah, I really hate the Ultimate hammer, too.

I can see that explanation. Hercules has been going through actual sobering up too. He was fed up and realized that he was loosing friends because of his love of Alcohol. Herc's basically trying to prove himself again as he did in the beginning.
I'm hoping Thor will be going the same direction and become worthy again

Hmm, I hadn't thought of Thor's current predicament in terms of addiction, but it does fit. Herc's fall was much more on-the-nose about addiction. He pretty much had a rock-bottom moment when he realized how far he'd fallen from being basically the source for the ancient Greeks' entire concept of heroism. Thor's been having more of an existential crisis for a while now, even before he was rendered unworthy. You can see it going all the way back to his questioning whether Gorr had a point about gods being universally unworthy of worship in God of Thunder. But I can see how the addiction metaphor does fit, especially for the current leg of Thor's journey.

"You ever suck some **** for mjolnir?!"
-what Nick Fury whispered

lol

and I'm sorry, I love me some Thor merch, but who in the hell needs a four-foot foam hammer??

ME!!! I'd wallop the crap out of my three year son. It'd be awesome. :)

That opening scene in Unworthy Thor #1 when he is desperate for a hit of Mjolnir kind of supports the theory.

So it's finally within reach and muthef***a doesn't even pick it up?!
You crazy Thor, you crazy

Been playing Lego Avengers. So far Thor, Jane-Thor, Thor Girl, BRB, all become playable and you even fight Clor! lol
Odin has guards guarding the throne on Asgard from Hulk taking Selfies lol

Issue 5 of Unworthy Thor WILL reveal what Fury whispered to Thor!!!
http://comicbook.com/2017/02/22/how-was-thor-made-unworthy/
Guess #1: you made Cap a Hydra agent through some sort of extended game plan with Cap which has gone wrong
Guess #2: you gave Jane Foster cancer (that hammer has got to give off some electromagnetic radiation) and were wilfully blind to the risks
Guess #3: you were intimate with that flying goat.

My guess is something along the lines of "you and all your kind [i.e. the gods] are irrelevant." Aaron's had a running theme of Thor and others questioning what it actually means to be a god in the various societies across the universe, where most people are largely secular and advanced enough to not look for magic/divine explanations of things.

What, stealing mjolnir and the man's name wasnt enough, Jane had to take Jarnbjorn too???
F***in' thief! Lol
