Cal of Duty: Black Ops

Has anyone had issue with really long wait times when in matchmaking? Aside from 2 match types, every lobby I go to takes forever to find a match. Sometimes it won't even connect at all. It's really weird as free-for-all and team deathmatch are completely fine. I even booted up MW2 to see if I could replicate it, but it was fine there too.

What's the deal?

I have a problem with that. I have noticed long wait times for matches

Still working my way through the campaign. I'm really enjoying it so far. [BLACKOUT]Dimitri. [/BLACKOUT] As far as MP goes, I like it. I think the currency could use some work. Everything costs a lot and it takes me forever to have enough to buy one thing. Oh well.

Everything cost like 1000-3000 credits and you average about 800-1100 per match. How's that too expensive?

Because I'm not a good player. What you can get in one match could take me two or three. I'm not complaining that much. Just something I think could be tweaked.

Maybe I'm missing something but I'm at a point in 'Nam where Woods and I swim up to a VC boat... yet before I get a chance to get on the friggin' thing they see me (under water) and the mission fails.

That is why you should invest in a PS3.

I agree with Wolvie. Every time a camper kills me, I make it my job to flush em out. I do enjoy this game a whole lot, my only complaint is how much damage somebody can take. When I shoot a guy three times with my M16 and he doesn't die, something needs to be fixed. It's kind of frustrating

YES! I tried playing online last night and in an hour, I was only able to play 2 matches. If I was actually able to get into a match, the “migrating host” issue would appear, and then ultimately the lobby would close. Pissed me right the hell off.

One more reason why I prefer split screen – you don’t gotta deal with all that connection error bs :P

I DO find it cool that you can do split screen online – would be nice if online actually worked so I could try it, though.

Online works for me...but finding games with 4-5 friends is spotty. It always boots everyone or only 2 people make it in the game.

Thats where I ran into trouble. I was fine finding matches by myself, but once I got a few buddies it started crapping out.

A lot of people were claiming Infinity Ward was some sort of wizard that couldn't be emulated and it was going to "go down hill". I don't think that's true at all. Infinity Ward are a fairly over-rated developer and Treyarch have quite easily emulated the formula. To me Call Of Duty is sort of like John Carpenters "Halloween". Because Halloween was cheaply made with big success, many sequels were made, and horror basically collapsed into slasher flicks. That's what will (and is happening) with Call Of Duty. Instead of being creative, it's probably going to be the slasher syndrome of copy-paste for the next season of FPS. Possibly more about the multiplayer than the single player, it's already the case with a lot of shooters. Call Of Duty itself has been doing it and will conitue to do it for a long time, copy paste. Although I'm sure when it actually starts inplimented proper extensive destructive environments like Bad Company Or Crysis or introduce physics into it's design like Halflife 2 it will probably be hailed as revolutionary. Gary Oldman's good though.

I really do like the money and purchasing aspect but it just isn't as top notch and I have to agree that something is really off with the multiplayer graphics. There is a lot of detail, it just seems more cartoony to me.

Agreed. Infinity Ward created Call of Duty, Treyarch just took their work and made a few subtle changes or tossed in a few dumb game modes. Treyarch can never be seen as anything other than mediocre because they had no hand in Call of Duty, that was all Infinity Ward. They just got lucky that they happened to be owned by the most money hungry publisher we have ever seen and were put to work on someone else's franchise.

That is certainly your opinion. But MW2 got higher ratings from gaming sites than Black Ops has gotten. I am not saying that Black Ops is terrible, I like it, but the talk that Infinity Ward wasn't a good studio is ridiculous.

I never said they weren't good, but Modern Warfare 2 was a mess and Black Ops is much, much, much better than MW2.
