The Amazing Spider-Man Can Marc Webb do action?

He can't do any worse than Tim Story's action directing in the Fantastic 4 movies or can he?

Dance scenes are not far away from action sequences, you know. Spider-Man in particular is especially balletic in his fights. A music video director can handle that kind of material, usually.

What I'm more interested in is watching Peter develop as a fighter. One of the reasons I loved the wrestling scene in the first movie (other than Randy Savage's nuanced, subtle meditation on the milieu of Bonesaw McGraw) is that we got to see Peter learn how to fight somebody. This is a geeky teenager who's never known much about real-life combat aside from getting beaten up by bullies. Now he's in a steel cage with a bodybuilding pro wrestler, completely outmatched. (Okay, except for the superpowers.) He has to fight this guy. Other than kicking him in the gut, most of his moves in this scene are completely defensive. We need to see Peter punch somebody for the first time. That's a pretty big barrier for him to cross, and a big part of becoming Spider-Man.

But as long as the action is driven by the story, I'll be happy.

Peter punching Flash in spider-man was a defining and hilarious moment.
