The gunman has been killed.
There were three; one is dead, one on the run, one escaped by motorcycle.
I dont know if Id go to the route of worse but both are especially despicable. The first though I had when I read this was Only raised to medium? Really?, god knows if it happened anywhere else itd be a bigger deal or at least I assume as such. But yeah, I guess political unrest can happen anywhere, even Canada.
I think those of us who are fortunate enough to live in liberal democracies forget how fragile they are. Generally, you can just walk into our parliaments. Canada's parliament is at least guarded by armed men. Ours is guarded by a Serjeant-at-Arms. With a sword.

I can see the logic in this even in 2014 seeing as bullets can miss a target and kill someone else a lot easier than a sword missing its mark. I'd assume though at least some of the guards have guns or similar projectile weapons. You cant possibly be serious. How is this a thing in 2014? Fundamental defense and protection against terrorism as well as possible unrest that could lead to insurrection should be a high priority. I just cant fathom this.
