Captain Britain and MI-13

Yeah, those were the interviews I was referring to. Cornell really has me psyched about this title. Faiza Hussein looks to be a pretty good character and it's always great to see Wisdom. Spitfire is awesome too, although I'm not to thrilled about the vampire twist. Still, Captain Britain finally gets to be awesome again. Mix that in with a less complicated but still badass Black Knight and John Lennon as a Skrull (the highlight of the Wisdom mini), that has to be magic.

Faiza Hussain actually reminds me of Martha Jones with a superhero fetish.

I'm confused about Spitfire's vampirism. She literally bites a Skrull's throat out in that preview of #1... So does that mean she's already a vampire? How and when did that happen?

The overall direction of the series sounds cool, and as long as Dane's back and kicking ass, which he will be (Cornell mentioned on his blog that Dane's in for the long haul), I'm excited.

Yeah, must have happened sometime after her Captain America appearance, or maybe she was a vampire by that time as well. Should be intriguing to see what happens with her, especially with her and Union Jack being the biggest vampire haters of the United Kingdom and beyond.

We'll probably get an explanation for the vampirism sooner or later though.

Yeah, I'm sure we will. Cornell hinted that we'd get an answer on something as obscure as the authenticity of Dane's Ebony Blade, even; I think we can trust that he'll give us an explanation for such a major change in one of the main characters.

I just thought of something: Shang-Chi's part British, isn't he? Cornell already used him in his Wisdom mini, so he's not unfamiliar with him. Could he be the 'everybody's forgotten he's British' member?

Uh... I don't know. His Wikipedia entry says he's a member of MI-6, though.

At this point, I'm kind of hoping for Blade.

This looks pretty good, think I'll have to pick up a copy.

Blade's probably the best candidate. He'd be pretty cool with the team too.

The CBR previews look pretty good, and Leonard Kirk's artwork is great as always.

I'm not keen on "street Dane", but we'll see what comes of it. Least he is being used.

The Skrull Kill Krew has nothing on these guys!

The way Cornell describes his take on Dane, the street clothes and bike do make sense. He seems to be going for the tortured loner thing, so having him in the clothes of a teutonic knight would give the wrong impression visually. Granted, I still don't know why he couldn't at least wear the tabard with his eagle crest under the jacket. They should've just ditched the helmet as well and gone all street clothes. Right now it looks like he woke up one morning after a night of severe inebriation and his helmet was the only thing he could find.

.....did I just see a Super Skrull with the combined powers of the Champions?

With the combined powers of a Greek god, Hell's bounty hunter, and an Omega Level Mutant? This is going to be ****ing sweet.

Yeah, but I think Captain Britain punches his head off in like two panels.

Cap's just badasss, I'm sorry but he's awesome. Looks like he's fighting a Champions Skrull and a Baron Blood Skrull.

I've gotta say I really like seeing superheroes fighting villains instead of other heroes.

Paul Cornell said in an interview this Faiza is supposed to be like Kitty Pryde when she first debuted, as sort of an outsider's POV. I really like this whole hero worship thing she's got going, pretty funny.

BAMF!

I think I just became a Black Knight fan. Every line of dialogue on that page is sheer awesomeness. "Then I roll my eyes and do the right thing anyway." WIN

I'm very surprised John's still on their good side. Even if he is actually on our side, I'm surprised they haven't locked him up yet. And the SIEGE PERILOUS!

I'm won over by this title. HOORAY! Plus that story title, "The Guns of Avalon." That's just an awesome title.

I think it's a play on "The Guns of Navarone", right?

So the Home Secretary-Skrull killed the rest of the Cabinet?

Yay, mention of Joey and Captain Midlands!

Haha, Cornell's given Dane a nice, matter-of-fact glibness. I like it. I liked how Faiza was awestruck upon seeing all the heroes, too. I'm really looking forward to this. :D

Is there a preview up somewhere? If so post it already.

I am not kidding.

Is that what all those red x's Spectre posted are?

Cuz if that craps from IGN I can't see it.

Oh shizzle, yeah it is from IGN. Sucks to be you, dude. Want me to copy the text for you? I'm bored anyway.

I grabbed the images from the text-less CBR preview I posted earlier that correspond to the pages in IGN's preview, but not all of them were there.

Disembodied bubble: Captain Britain, this is Alistaire Stuart in the PM's office. Sitrep, please.
Captain Britain: They're targeting transport links: roads and airports. And causing chaos in the centre. For every one I put down, there's two more. Why are they hitting Britain this hard?
Stuart: Unknown at this time. Okay... update. Incoming Skrull force is turning north--
Captain Britain: This one's following.
Stuart: Most of the ground forces too.
Captain Britain: Do I pursue?
Stuart: No, come in. We're putting an op together--we have to get on the front foot--and see what we can do to save the nation.
Faiza Hussain: Come on, Faiza, come on...

Faiza: You lot! St. Thomas' is being evacuated! Can you get them out of the city?
EMT1: Communications are down, the access roads are blocked.
Faiza: Then we'll do battlefield triage here.
EMT1: Right. Right. Oh God.
EMT2: Why us?! I thought they'd go after the States! They've got all the bloody super heroes!
Faiza: I saw Captain Britain just now. Easily one of his top ten battles. It was awesome!
EMT2: Top ten--!
Faiza: Mate! It was up there with the Lord Hawk one! I so love British super heroes! Cap, the Knights of Pendragon, Digitek--
Unknown voice from off-page: Tch! I bet I'm not even in the top five--

Black Knight: Remember... the Black Knight?!

Page 6

Black Knight: It's because I only live here, right? And please don't yell, "The Avengers are here, we're saved." Don't get me started on that. What can I do?
Faiza: You can--You're the Black Knight. You want me to give you orders, and you're the Black Knight. Okay. I need everyone in this area to either be a patient, be helping, or... go away. Only... if the Ebony Blade starts telling you to do evil stuff... you've just gotta--
Black Knight: It does all the time, but I just keep asking myself: what would a super hero do? Then I roll my eyes and do the right thing anyway. Don't believe everything you read in Super magazine. I have a strategy now: stay flippant and it can't get me. What's your name?
Faiza: Faiza... Dr. Faiza Hussain.
Black Knight: Okay, Faiza--you do the hard work, I'll steal the glory.
Faiza: Yeah. Okay.

Prime Minister: Thank you, Captain, Peter, John. It turns out the Home Secretary was a Skrull. My cabinet is now... there's three of us. As we speak, Captain Midlands and Union Jack are with ground forces mustering to secure crucial targets in London. All British super heroes now work for MI-13, like it or not. Peter, Thirteen is yours. With no JIC chair, you answer to me.
Pete Wisdom: Sir.
Prime Minister: Alistaire, situation please.
Stuart: Of course, Mr. Prime Minister. Having hit London and various military bases, the bulk of the Skrull British op is assembling in the Cheviot hills. Odd choice. Nothing of strategic value nearby. We've notified the Scottish First Minister.
Captain Britain: Oh my God. The Siege Perilous.
