NEW JOE FRIDAYS WEEK 31-On a Monday

That's a shame, because it's a book that's light and old school enough to deflate some balloons of comic cynicism for me.

And I have acknowledged that Joe Q's Marvel has published plenty of good books, and that 2006 is an improvement over 2005, and he is at least working on the solict spoiler issue since a year ago, etc.

Guy that type of stuff is right up my alley!! AoA, She-Hulk, Invincible, Beyond! partna' that's my thing.

Hell mutha f--kas get on my case for being too oldschool and my Dan Slott fetish (Yes I know I'm sick.):o

WTF is the DC bashing for?! It's something you've slowly been increasing after IC ended and it often doesn't have anything to do with what you're talking. Seriously, WTF?!?!

Sorry to come in when other people are attacking you but.....

I've been reading more DC since IC, what little I do read, so I have more knowledge, firstly.

Secondly, after HOM ended and I looked at IC at it's faults, it wasn't perfect, and DC has made it's share of blunders with some characters and approaches. I'd be less than fair if I didn't criticize DC if I felt I was justified. In fact, Marvel and DC are alike in some ways, not only for the better. They're stuck in perpetual "one-uppmanship" and while that is nothing new, it creates some unneeded retrends.

Thirdly, I actually would like to see DC give Marvel more of a run for their money, because as a Marvel fan, if I felt Marvel was really challenged, they'd have to think outside the box and perhaps become stronger. Much like Rocky needed to be TKO'd by Clubber Lang to get "hungry" again. DC's on the whole failed to do that the past year so I've lost faith. They're Marvel's biggest competitor, but they are one Marvel has become too used to beating. That is bad for both. Unfortunately it is very hard right now for another competitor to seriously enter the mix and challenge that symbosis.

That enough text for some of you? ;)

Always need some old school now and again.

SHE-HULK's probably the best book I don't read. I just never cared for the character. Kind of like some people and DAREDEVIL, despite that being Bendis' best Marvel run, hands down.

I think DC is suffering from 'Old White man Itis' They need to hire some people of color as editors and writers, and stop being so tied to the JSA golden oldie stuff. They are trying too diversify sure, but it still feels a little too good ol'boy to me over at DC.

Psssst.
I read She-Huk, and I feel some of the magic being lost.:csad:

Don't get me wrong, I still love the book, I just feel its not as good as before.

Damn skippy it is! She-Hulk is the bright shinning light in a dark and dank Marvel U!

I can sorta understand some peoples aversion to BMB's DD run it was very much off the beaten path, hell DECALOGUE alone was taxing on my ability too stay engaged with the story being told.

Thank you for all that text but I still don't see how that relates in any way to this weeks Joe Friday's. I don't see the answer to my question.

Like I've told you before, on more than one occasion, the only one with the delusion that DC fans think DC is perfect is you. This whole "Ooooh, I found that DC has these faults" thing that's new to you, isn't news to most of us.

If you want to criticize DC when you make a DC comic review it makes sense. When you do it because you're bashing something Marvel did but then feel you need to "balance out" by bashing DC to is where I go WTF?

If Marvel doesn't think outside the box enough it shouldn't be because DC isn't giving them a run for their money, it should be because they can; and they're not doing it. It's cool that you want DC to be better, but it's just because you want Marvel to be better, not because you care for DC.

I've said before and again that I'm not a major DC fan at all. I probably like the cartoons from the 90's-2000's more than most of the comics I have read. I've scimmed the DC Forum and you are correct, the hardcores there have a lot to be upset about. Sorry if my DC feelings are shallow, but I'm a Marvel Fanboy at heart. I just visit DC for 52 and others. ;)

You have a point, Marvel's lack of innovation is not DC's fault. I even said that a few times in my critique of Joe Q's Friday, especially in his "footnotes in the letters page". It's a GREAT IDEA! He should make it manditory. I doubt many writers, or editors, will object. But he doesn't seem to be and that is irksome. It's a good idea that addresses the problem left on the whim of writers and some just can't be bothered.

I just feel the two sometimes are locked in their own perpetual cycles. Marvel loves being topical, and DC loves replacing old heroes with young ethnically diverse ones or having the youngsters fill in the boots of their veterans. That's great to a point, but overdo it and it becomes predictable. Plus, well, DC continuity is no walk in the park.

I do see your point. You figure I'm taking a potshot at DC just to spread the venom around. Maybe I am and didn't notice. It happens.
