Dread, Joey Q doesn't post here.
Dread, Joey Q doesn't post here.
And if he did I wouldn't be nearly so bold. What? I'm honest.
Just how I was typing.
It's gonna take me a week to read that Dread.
Everything that Dread just said is what I was gonna say but I just ended up calling Joe Q fat instead.
Everything except I would have correctly said Avengers #16 and not #14
And if the post's too long for some of you, just skip it and quit complaining.
LOL! Quit complaining. Nice one. Coming from Mr. I Buy USM even though it sucks due to some weird obligation and post long heated negative reviews about it.
You have a long last name.![]()
I attribute staying on USM at least for the rest of CLONE SAGA to paying $10 to see a movie, hating it midway, but sticking it out otherwise your money is a waste. How many of you would quite a movie or arc midway through when you've already invested money without at least seeing how it ends. I've likened it to a drug addiction and admitted it.
As for after CS, I was genuinely interested in ULTIMATE KNIGHTS, since Bendis' last arcs on the subject, WARRIORS & USM ANNUAL #2, were enjoyable. Then Ultimate Ronin happened and I am rethinking it.
The point is, if you complain about my complaining, you're no better. Why is it acceptable when a company that charges you money does something, but not a fan who charges nothing? There are a few posters who apologize endlessly for Marvel because they are a business but criticize fans, who post for free, endlessly in some sort of "fair play" notion, and I want to understand why.
To be frank, Marvel outselling DC is nothing. You can take it for granted. Especially after HOM did. DC for some reason has time working against it and doesn't strike while the iron is hot in quite the same way. That may piss off some DC fans, but that is how I see it. True, they were never bankrupt, but Marvel outselling it was old news before Joe was EIC.

Here's the cliffnotes version:
Joey Q is a hypocrite, he sucks, he lies, and he fails to grasp what his audience really wants. I will ignore the fact that marvel comics continues to be #1 sales wise, even with a drop in quality and a simple opinion that would take 2 sentences would write out has been expanded into 4 different 5 paragraph essays.
Thanx, gotta love cliffnotes.
Good eye. I'll go edit. Thanks.
And if the post's too long for some of you, just skip it and quit complaining. Otherwise it's like us fogies who whine about EMUSIC ads.I don't make anyone read my stuff.
Sorry if my fingers have more stamina.See what I mean by saying something that could've taken 2 sentences to say? I type 2 paragraphs and I have carpel already. Anyway, I think I'll answer one part of your post, because I find it funny:
Its simple and you stated it yourself. Just like Joey Q comes out every week and makes his statements public, when you criticize and decide to go on another complain fest, you're doing the same. Just like any other poster, if you can't take the ehat get off the street. You wanna criticize publicly, go ahead, but be ready to be called out publicly as well. I agree with a lot of what you have to say, I just find it funny that self appointed "Marvel fans" like yourself and Doc for example just constantly talk negatively about Marvel. Its funny coming from me I know, but even I can find positives in Marvel. Like I've said before, these Joe Friday's, are something a lot of fans take for granted, he doesn't have to do him, and fact is, nobody else does do them. He gives you guys unlimited amount of ammo every single week, yet you really don't see the good coming from it. Sure, he says stupid ****, I'm sure Levitz would as well if doing the same column, but I just find it funny, that you guys continue to read them week in and week out knowing damn well its just going to piss you off. Its like me picking up The Flash just to bash it later. That I will never understand.
Cliffnotes got me through high school.![]()
Sorry if my fingers have more stamina.
I admitted some positives there, and in the beginning of some of my posts. I provided some Devil's Advocate posts and even acknowledged when Joe was right, just he worded it in a way that made me imagine some suspicious agenda, so I wondered if I wasn't alone.
The fact of the matter is, fans respond more to negativity than being positive. Want proof? Tomorrow when INVINCIBLE comes out, I will gush about it, because I absolutely adore that book. Not a soul will reply about it. Instead I'll get the most replies when I complain about something. People talked about my USM post for a good week last time, but what about X-MEN: FIRST CLASS #5, which I liked? Almost nothing, until I brought it up. I'm part of that cycle but such a cycle is the norm. No one gathers in a circle and makes a topic last 50 pages because they're all talking about how much they love it. That only happens when there is some debate, something to criticize. It makes MB's more fun.
I find positives too, I just post more about the negatives because they usually get me more feedback. I can rave about XM: FIRST CLASS all day and no one cares. But I say one curse about USM and I get 20 replies. And since getting replies and having a conversation is part of the allure of a MB community, I'm playing up my strength.
I can take some heat, otherwise I won't post at MB's. I just wanted some insight onto the practice.
No one would give a damn about what I had to say if all I said was, "I really like the Marvel Universe, lalala". And I'd be a phoney if I didn't post where I felt there was something to criticize.
Ain't it grand.
Hell, I even used some Cliff's Notes in college.![]()
But to be fair, nobody reads X-Men:First Class.![]()
That's a shame, because it's a book that's light and old school enough to deflate some balloons of comic cynicism for me.
And I have acknowledged that Joe Q's Marvel has published plenty of good books, and that 2006 is an improvement over 2005, and he is at least working on the solict spoiler issue since a year ago, etc.

I've always found dread (on the whole) quite positive about marvel......
WTF is the DC bashing for?! It's something you've slowly been increasing after IC ended and it often doesn't have anything to do with what you're talking. Seriously, WTF?!?!
Sorry to come in when other people are attacking you but.....
Sorry if my fingers have more stamina.

Dude I comment on your positive reviews at times (Especially Dan Slott,Kirkman and all around upbeat stuff.)
