Captain Britain and MI-13

Furman did work on that poor excuse of a comic Death's Head 3.0. It showed fans still remember and want to see the character in some fashion when it won a poll to be written and released, but even if there was a brief revival of the character it wouldn't do well.

I'd rather see the original Death's Head again. Minion's not quite as cool, although it was nice to see him again. The Death's Head 3.0s are pretty much their own thing since Planet Hulk co-opted them into the Red King's elite soldiers.

Heinberg pisses me off, sometimes. Brian K. Vaughan is writing for Lost, but he still manages to squeeze out a comic every now and then.
BKV is awesome :woot:
Because Vaughan treats comics as a job as well as TV. Heinberg treats it like a paid hobby, as Dread said. Heaven forbid he take time out of busily cobbling together those masterpiece scripts for Grey's f***ing Anatomy to write a comic book. :o

I could write Grey's Anatomy in about 5 minutes the shows like bad
chick lit

In the end it all comes down to Marvel. They own the characters.

Yeah, they're being b****es about YA. I understand respecting a creator's other obligations and all, but waiting 5 years while the excitement for the franchise cools doesn't seem particularly smart.

Oh, I agree, the original Death's Head is a superior character in design and personality, but my first comic with DH was in the DHII mini, so he pretty much became an instant favorite. The first 4 issues of his 16 issue on-going solidified that.

Still looking for that issue 16.

Although, one of my most prized possessions will always be the original Death's Head's first issue. Bought that back in 1992. Still in pretty good condition considering then I bought comics to read, not collect.

I believe Vaughn stated that he's even stepped down from working on Lost now too.

Apparently someone even confronted Quesada about it at the Cup O Joe panel at SDCC:

A fan confronted the panel about late-shipping books and creators not turning in scripts or art for months and months on end, with Quesada responding, "The truth of the matter is that with so many of this talent is that they have careers in other places. Sometimes those careers come a knockin and pay infinitely more than comics do. At the end of the day, when work stops coming in, the only thing we can do is get another creator to finish the book. But if you're paying for Damon Lindelof, you want that...when Damon tells me [that he does comics for the love of it] and promises to get me the script...we decided to hold off. It's the essence of publishing in a lot of ways. It's not like making cars on an assembly line."

That just seems kinda sketchy reading. I know part of the draw can be having the creator, but if it gets to the point where the characters/franchise loses virtually all momentum because of it, that's something you have to draw the line at.

One would think "love of the characters" might actually spur these a**holes into completing their goddamned work on them. Young Avengers isn't some niche mini-series like Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk, either. It's a viable franchise that needs to have some forward motion rather than constantly spinning its wheels with irrelevant mini-series while Heinberg rakes in the dough from writing shoddy TV romantic dramadies. :o

I didn't mean to imply I'm a huge fan of Death's Head or anything. I've always been interested in the character but, living in the US, I've never had much access to his comics. Most of what I know comes from online profiles. But I hear they're releasing trades of his old comics now, so I'll probably pick those up.

I agree with JustABill Runways is as good now as its been since BKVs run.

2 trades have already been released in the UK, collecting his solo run, some apperances, etc. I'm hoping they release them here eventually. Amazon doesn't carry them outside of private sellers and after a few recent bad experiences I shall be avoiding those.

I'm embarrassed to say I was only able to read the final issue today. My god, I loved this series. It was great. Sad to see it go. Loved the final page.

I've been somewhat hoping for a Black Knight mini. Don;t expect one, but would like to see one.

There's a one-shot coming out in a few months, but it features Sir Percy, the Black Knight of Camelot.

I'm a huge Black Knight fan and I can pretty much tell you that you're right to abandon all hope for Dane getting a mini-series or anything. I'm pretty sure his run in Avengers back in the '90s is about as big as he'll ever get.

I know, it's a collection of the digital comic. Not that interested in this one.

Didn't he fight Deadpool back then? I'm sure I remember a old Avengers issue where he fights Deadpool.

And favourite British hero?

Captain Britain!!!

my fave british hero is pretty obvious!
(its union jack for those its not obvious to!!)

and baron blood for the baddie!!

My favorite British hero is John Constantine although his not really a hero and hin not a mavel character.

There are enough British mutants to start their own team now with

Psylocke
Pete Wisdom
Pixie
Chamber
Wolfsbane
Lila Cheney

After reading MI:13 and the Wisdom miniseries, Pete Wisdom has got to be my favorite. Psylocke is right up there, and Spider-Woman is rising in the ranks.
