Captain Britain and MI-13

I like Union Jack, but why do you want him to kick Blade's ass? Why does Joe even blame Blade for what's happening? Does he blame him for Spitfire disappearing? Because I don't see the connection to Blade in "Dracula has kidnapped (or as far as they know, hurt) a vampire that doesn't normally follow him."

Because Blade resurrected all the Vampires that are currently attacking London at the end of his Series. Technically it is his fault.

Ah. Didn't realize that. I'd heard that all of the vampires had died out some time ago, but I just assumed their resurgence was the result of Marvel's writers and editors saying "screw it, there's vampires again."

Blade got tricked into bringing back the dead vampires and too fair Dracula has been resurrected more times than I've had hot dinners but you can understand why union jacks kicking off with them getting their asses handed to them on a silver platter.

So another traitor is in the wings huh?
MI:13 have got more leaks than the titanic

Are they really gonna look for Pete Wisdom to come up with a plan because if they are they are done for. Petes a sneaky git and his got stones but he looks out of his depth and Brians gone all emo which is not good when his powers depend on him being confident.

Seems Drac is putting some moves on Lady J as well which I'm sure both Joe and Blade are gonna wanna want to beat even more of snot out of Dracula when they find out.

Vampires..........in Space!
I love this comic

In addition to Blade inadvertently resurrecting the world's vampires in his series, he has had an ongoing personal war with Dracula for quite some time now, leading several squads of slayers to try to destroy him. Dracula called Blade out specifically in his "declaration of war". That combined with the stress of the situation were probably getting Chapman to buckle a bit. To be fair, Blade hardly kept total cool in that situation, either.

it was blade who kicked off in fact. A bit of guilt there I think. You can understand why UJ is pissed with all vamps being back. But it hasn't explained yet why jaq is a vampire that may be another reason uj is miffed.

It does showcase what a long term planner Dracula is, though. Blade informed Union Jack and the entire team that he assumed, correctly, that Dracula was deliberately trying to stoke in-fighting amongst their team, especially between Joe Chapman and Blade himself. Despite that knowledge by both sides, tensions are causing a few of them to crack.

Oh, Dracula's come quite a bit since pining for Storm, of all people, as a wife. :p

Who hasn't wanted to marry Storm? She doesn't really love Black Panther. She just got tired of fighting it, and went with the next king who proposed to her.

"Ororo, would you do me the honor of becoming my queen?"
"Sure, if it'll stop the next guy from asking."

Sometimes I see Storm as being the physical representation of Chris Claremont's repressed kinky side. She's certainly been through a lot of "strange" situations.

Claremont sees Storm as Princess Leia, always chained up in that golden bikini, but Jabba the Hut is interchangeable with alien warlords, kings, most of her teammates, and every female villain in an equally revealing outfit.

That may be the best explanation of that dynamic I have ever read. :wow:

Paul Cornell has posted preview art on his blog for the Captain Britain and MI-13 annual with art by Runaways Adrian Alphona.

It shows the team playing Cricket

Blade needs to start carrying a Cricket bat as a weapon now like Casey Jones or Simon Pegg in Shuan Of The Dead.

I know the team was just decimated in this week's issue (so the death's of an entire team sticking seem unlikely), but doesnt that preview page give us a mighty spoiler about some of those who 'died' surviving?

They could be in hell, many peoples vision of hell is being forced to watch/play cricket

Did you really expect anyone to stay dead? It's kind of already a giveaway when they apparently kill off the entire team at once. You know something's gonna happen to bring them all back or make it clear that they never really died in the first place.

Anyway, the preview pages are here. I wonder if cricket is gonna become MI-13's version of the X-Men's old baseball games. :) I love Alphona's use of unusual angles and forced perspective, too. I've missed his art.

UJ wasnt in it...i wonder if he is gonna be in the next issue...i hope so,i'd like to see him and cap team up and kick ass.
dracula is a cool bad guy..i'd like to see the rest of the MU fight in this too...make it more than just britain..i'd like to see how sentry fights this..and if a vampire bite would turn wolverine or if his mutant factor counteracts it.
either way this story is great....i hope dane isnt dead tho...

They better not all be dead. :( I'll drop the book, I swear it. :(

No Wisdom? No Faiza? I'm gone.... No point in staying on. :(

Pretty good issue.
Kinda strange that blade kind of left and didn't go down fighting. Where have i been?

Oh, you know they're not all dead. Pete Wisdom is the driving force behind this team (I swear, sometimes it feels like a continuation of the Wisdom miniseries), and Faiza & Dane are too awesome to get rid of. Plus, the team knew it was a trap. I call glamour magic.
