It's great seeing Alphona's art again. As for spoilers, well, I think sometimes in the "death for laughs" comic culture, we forget that the seeming death of an entire team by the last page was fairly common back in the old days. How many old AVENGERS or UNCANNY X-MEN comics ended with you going, "gosh, no way out of that one!" and then next month everyone lived? If Cornell just killed of Faiza and called it a day, I'd be concerned. But half the blooming team? C'mon. Give it another issue or two, that's what I'd say.

I mean, Brian himself was revived by Merlyn rather quick after issue #1.

Still, I am really liking this arc. Dracula's become a major bad ass.

Even if the ending wasn't misdirection, Dane's probably still alive anyway and thats badass.

great series

am i the only one who prefered dane with the jacket and helmet, never liked his full gettup

I do. The armor is badass. I'm always annoyed when he goes into battle with just the helmet. It's ridiculous.

What's the point in just the helmet?

it looks cooler and errrrm hides his identity or something? I dunno I always thought his full costume was goofy looking not very superhero like

The Avalon Armor is badass. It's been drawn badly every now and then but for the most part it's much better than just a leather jacket.

Vanguard07 is hereby banned from using the word badass.

Oh, you know they're not all dead. Pete Wisdom is the driving force behind this team (I swear, sometimes it feels like a continuation of the Wisdom miniseries), and Faiza & Dane are too awesome to get rid of. Plus, the team knew it was a trap. I call glamour magic.

Heh, not like that's a bad thing though, is it? I was disappointed to see them kill off John, glad to see Cap Midlands at least make an appearance again, but I wanna definitely see more of Tink. She's fun.

Re: Dane's costume. I'm sort of ambivalent about it. I like the current armor more than the plain clothes + helmet look he had before, but I would've preferred a mix of the two like he had in the '90s Avengers comics. Tunic under a leather jacket with medieval boots and gloves. I think it's the best way to express Dane's "man of two worlds" schtick, which has always been one of my favorite elements of the character--he's a modern man with medieval ideals and a scientist/engineer who wields magical weaponry.

I know the team was just decimated in this week's issue (so the death's of an entire team sticking seem unlikely), but doesnt that preview page give us a mighty spoiler about some of those who 'died' surviving?
The preview page is showing a story set prior to this one, between the last arc and this one.

I liked her too and I'm disappointed we haven't seen her since the beginnng of this run. :(

Don't really care about any of the Wisdom characters, since I read some of the first issue of Wisdom and didn't really like it. Maybe I didn't give it a fair shake, since Hairsine's art was what I had the biggest problem with, but I wouldn't mind if Cornell just left it as background and kept making CB&MI-13 its own thing.

Corp, the only things carried over from the Wisdom miniseries are John (who died), and MI-13's rivalry with MI's 5 and/or 6. Cornell is doing a good job of not telling people to pick up a MAX comic while still continuing its story (probably a better job than Alias/Pulse).

I really started reading this book just because it had Blade in it. But man, Issue #13 was pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing where they take the Vampire State arc next.

While I didn't mind Dane's recent leather jacket look as much as some people, I do like the return to armor. He IS called "The Black Knight" after all. He has access to magical armor; why not use it? I haven't had a problem with how Kirk has been drawing it. I was never a fan of the "90's Brown Jacket" look of the Avengers back then. It looked too much like "we are trying to be the X-Men, because they have brown jackets with the team emblem on the sleeve, and jackets and spandex is SO cool now in 1995, it'll never get old!" Then, it got old. I'm more of a full armor fan of Black Knight I guess. It's not like it is hi-tech armor, which everyone and their mother seems to have despite Stark's best efforts. Medieval armor isn't nearly as played out, and thus more original.

I didn't read WISDOM at all and I've never felt lost. Cornell's doing a good job. Just a shame no more than 17k readers seem to be interested per month.

Plus it's not just any medieval armor. It's magical medieval armor. And magic trumps science/hi-tech.

Hot damn do I love this series right now. I'm dying for issue 14.

One of the best books out there right now I reckon.

Well, we knew it was coming. I'm glad Cornell saw the writing on the wall and plotted "Vampire State" as something of a series finale. Looking forward to seeing his endgame for the book.
