Captain Britain and MI-13

I doubt the death of the whole team is the end Cornell had in mind when he started writing the series.

I hope not but nothing suprises me. Folks I like have a tendency to die. :(

Well, i'm pretty depressed these days, can I buy you a drink?

I'm worried about the Black Knight now. For an obscure character like him, CB&MI-13 was a godsend. You can't hope for anything more than a writer who clearly likes the character to pluck him from limbo and treat him as well as Cornell did. Now it seems like rather than uncovering the mystery of the fake Ebony Blades and exploring his blossoming relationship with Faiza, all Dane has to look forward to is another stretch in limbo until some *****e randomly selects him as cannon fodder for another big event. :csad:

Or Millar. I associate the third-tier shock death with Millar more than Bendis, to be honest. Bendis is more likely to take a liking to the character and put him in a comic but get his personality totally wrong. Like I could see Bendis bringing Dane back as a half-demon villain who's been completely overtaken by the Ebony Blade's curse.

I'm not sure which of those options I'd hate more.

awww.dammit.
how come this book ends yet wolverine still gets his 12 books...
i really liked this..they made cap look cooler...didnt think that was possible, and yet here we are.
at least i am enjoying other marvel books now...it just seems a waste of great characters.

Damn. At least it gets a proper ending.

Yeah, that's about all you can ask for when a series that's so great you know it'll be cancelled quickly comes along. I hope Van Lente and Pak have an ending planned for iHerc.

So word is finally out, on Cornell's private blog no less. Marvel couldn't even be honest with retailers and announce it. Despite the rumor a few months back that Marvel squashed, it was inevitable, sadly. It was a great book, but sales were in the toilet. Marvel canned books that sold better more recently. At least it'll have made it about a year and a half, 15 issues and an annual. That's more than a lot of dead books have gotten.

It is a shame. Makes me especially curious if some of those deaths in issue #13 were real. I can imagine Faiza biting it as Cornell created her, so he has the authority. I kind of doubt about Wisdom, although I doubt the X-World would miss him. Dane Whitman, who knows? Frankly, Faiza was the only one was saw "seemingly" die on panel, her throat being torn out with Spitfire's claws. Kind of hard to survive that, unless she can heal herself REALLY fast. Like she did for her and Dane when they fell from the plane?

There is a part of me that is worried, but also a part that wants to wait for the next 44 pages across the last two issues. Part of me thinks issue #14 will show Dracula and his vampire army taking on the rest of Britain and their remaining heroes like Union Jack and even Motormouth & Killpower, and then issue #15 being the "omigod, they're back!" finale where everyone kicks ass.

I won't start accusing Cornell of ending his book with a slaughter fest until that is shown without a doubt.

You know why Wisdom will be dead? Because I liked him and I guess I was the only one. :(

Well what other characters do you like? I need to know what other books I'm reading will be gone soon.

Black Knight was the one I liked the most, although I learned to like the others pretty well. Good writing will do that.

VL said at one point that they had in mind a series of eight or nine interlocked arcs (of which "Love and War" was the third"). Though, if things are still selling well when they get to the end of that, who knows?

Hopefully things are still selling well. INCREDIBLE HERCULES has been selling at 31k for the last 3 months, so hopefully that is a stable number. Below 30k is danger and below 25k is about cancel zone.

Wow how shocked am I that readers are collective idiots who wouldn't know a good book if it walked up to them and slit their throats.

No I'm not madding why does you ask?

I liked Wisdom too, perhaps Ellis will use him in an X-book or something. I could see him as a spy for the X-Men like Tessa was.

Sucks this gets cancelled when there are far worst comics out there Marvel continue to print. Most these characters are probabley gonna end up in limbo or cannon fodder for the next time Wolverine is under mind control goes crazy and needs someone to stab (....ala Northstar)

I'm so desperate I would even buy this if chris claremont took over!

Who knows perhaps the trades will do big bussiness like Runaways and get Marvel to give the title another shot.

You know what would make Captain Britain sell. If they relaunched it as Britain's Avengers or any title with Avengers in the name. I really feel like Captain Britain and the rest of the cast excluding Blade(everyone knowns him) are very unknown characters to a lot of marvel fans. I think people don't really care about characters they aren't familiar with. People who have read Excalibur support this title, but anyone who hasn't read it probably won't give this a chance or they think it's just another X-book because of Excalibur. I really wish this wasn't canceled. Lets just hope someone good uses the characters so they're not just sitting in comic limbo.

Hey hey Claremont was a good writer. he might write a good story again at some point in his life.

:( This makes me sad. Where am I gonna get my Wisdom fix now Marvel?

HUH?! You big jerk.
