Well, with Portman, thats a dislike for the actress, having nothing to do with her abilities

Catwoman's look is a design decision, not her acting, one people can hate immediately

and maybe Lawrence got some s***, but that was certainly not the driving narrative about FC when the trailer came out, I honestly don't remember seeing any comments about her when that first trailer came out, I'm sure you could dig something up... but the majority of Lawrence/Mystique hate came around Apocalypse and her becoming an over-exposed Mary Sue (plus the building dislike for Lawrence as a person)

I wasn't talking about the Halle's fashion I was talking about her performance "meeeeowww" was murdered in the comment section as well as her line delivery (all deserved because it was a mess) and this was before social media took off so I can only imagine now.

Everyone stated how they hated NP her ever since Star Wars TPM and how she was a trash actress.

Good deflection trying to set up when I prove you wrong about JLAW: during the naming of the X-Men clip most people said the movie would fail because it was hokey 1 clip of the film. People have always based what they see.

Goodness it's like people are acting like they don't watch trailers to judge if they are going to like a film, even though that is exactly what they are designed to do....

How you can judge acting from a 2 minute trailer is beyond me. And the trailer gives some context as to why she isn't the most vibrant of personalities. I for one have faith she'll deliver. Are the out of context and maybe even unused lines in the trailer the best ever? nah but it's not enough to go on a tirade over it.

I don't mind the effects used in the videogame graphics. Why not mimic those?

Also missed the orbs around her hands. I don't like the straight beam. It reminds me of Fox's effects on Cyclops.

You said they were critiquing Halle's "over the top cheesy look".. Sorry if I misinterpreted your meaning, but I was just responding to the initial comment... and yeah, that movie had so much going against it (probably including some underlying racial resentment) that it was going to get savaged no matter what

1) I don't quite understand what those words in that order are supposed to mean, and 2) I legitimately never saw that in my time here, but provided with evidence I would be happy to concede. But from what I recall, JLaw was not the focus of most people's skepticism about that movie.

Everyone is welcome to critique trailers and make initial impressions of a film based off of them... it's the level of criticism for this film and this actress that seems unusual, at least amongst other, similarly-marketed MCU films.

Also, no need to condescend, it's an ugly look on anyone... you should try smiling more

I don't think anyone (that I've seen) is basing Brie's entire performance off the few lines in the trailer. They're just saying - as they're entitled to do so - that the few lines she has in the trailer have been flat.

I remember when The Force Awakens trailer came out and a few of Daisy Ridley's lines were flat (there's one bit in The Last Jedi when she talks to Luke and it's just painfully poor delivery) but does that mean her entire performance was flat? No.

I have no doubt that Brie is a fabulous actress and she's going to nail it... but the few lines she had in the trailer weren't showing her at her best (I'm sure that's all to come)

Well, reality agrees with me and that's all that matters. Neither of them has the range and the intensity required to play Batman, and that's why they failed.

From the trailer it appears she's having serious memory issues. The Kree have done something to her, in the trailer the Skrulls have her upside down in that machine with the stuff going into her head so they're doing something to her as well at some point. Her demeanour seems fine to me given what she appears to be dealing with from what little we've seen. She doesn't seem at odds with the tone of the trailer to me.

I've seen great trailers for movies that ended up being awful, and terrible trailers for movies I ended up loving. Judging things from a trailer seems a waste of time none of the scenes have any context and some of them might not even be in the finished product. I'll judge her and the movie when it comes out, when I've got the whole thing in front of me.

We have seen so little to go on. There is obviously going to be a difference between her demeanor when she is part of the Kree forces, unaware of her real history and how she's going to react to uncovering her past which has been hidden from her. I think it's reasonable to assume that the portions showing her interacting with the other members of the Star Force will show a more relaxed and comfortable personality to contrast with later when she's come to realize what's been done to her.

So, what are the chances that they show something new at CCXP? Not very high I assume, but you never know.

...for the role of Batman", is what I wish someone would have told Affleck and Clooney before they accepted the part. It's a shame no one did.

All I know is that if someone had told me back when Larson was cast as CM that the biggest complaint against the trailers (and possibly even the movie) would've been her acting, I would have laughed in their face. And yet here we are.

The fact that she is an Oscar winning actress is exactly what makes this whole situation worse. We really, really shouldn't be having this discussion.

its funny because gal gadot was the opposite people were down on her casting due to being a skinny model from fast and the furious and by each trailer they got more and more confident and impressed by her performance but brie everyone was all in due to her track record and 2 trailers in people are underwhelmed by what looks to be a flat performance

The hair is doing that though. It’s just falling down from being powered up.

As for the orbed hand power... what works in comic illustration doesn’t always work in live action.
