If that’s the case than that’s disappointing. To get an academy winning actress to sign your multi-picture deal, who is in her 20’s shouldn’t be considered anything less than a coup.

With X-men, fox tended to make the mistake of investing in credible actors that got lost in the work of their bad creative teams. Take Oscar Isaac in Apocalypse for example and Oscar winner Anna Paquin’s Rogue in X3 and DOFP. Apocalypse and Rogue sucked major b**** along with Jennifer Lawrence’s mystique, nick hoults beast, and the list goes on. Brie Larsons starting out great though. Hopefully they treat her character the opposite way they did Anna Paquin. Getting a good actors great, but I think having a solid team overall to make the movie is key.

I’ve also always suspected that the reason X-men stars like Anna Paquin and Ellen Page were neglected by Hollywood was because they were LGBTQ and possibly very political and liberal at times.

I’d agree with you but her power isn’t “static electricity”. Anyways, they probably took influence from MvC.

That gif proves my point. There her hair raises like it IS being pulled by static electricity. There's physics to the way it looks. It doesn't just look like her hair was is randomly under water and on fire at the sametime. And yeah I know her powers aren't static electricity I was talking about an explanation someone gave about her hair looking that way here:

That trailer did NOTHING for me.

Everything I've seen from Brie Larson makes me cringe as well but I'm going to give Captain Marvel a fair chance. Honestly, it looks very sjw to me at this point and that's a very bad thing. Yet, I seriously am going to check any preconceived notions at the door and see it with an open mind.

Even if it does crap the bed, I trust the Russo Brothers to use her character properly and finish Avengers in style. I wasn't a fan of Spider-Man Homecoming but LOVED Spidey in Civil War and Infinity War. So, there's hope in either case.

Brie Larson Talks About Her Intense 'Captain Marvel' Training, Meeting Kelly Sue DeConnick and More [Set Visit Interview]

So I will say that this character is probably the most dynamic character that I’ve ever played, there’s the most range. As of now, and we’ll see what the movie is, but as of now, it’s been the most range I’ve ever played in a character. From I’ve had to go through every emotion possible with her. And a lot of this movie, although it has great comedy in it, there’s also real depth to it and emotion. So I think that the film will have a lot. Which for me, that’s what I want. I wanna see complicated female characters. I wanna see myself, which is not a simple person. I surprise myself constantly by what’s happening and what’s coming up. So hopefully that’s what comes out on screen.

How is it SJW? Because it features a strong (and not scantily clad) female superhero who is the main character and not a supportive or a love interest? I also don't understand why people think she doesn't smile too much; if she were Batman people would think he's badass, but a woman would suddenly be "cold" and "frigid"?

I actually love that line and her delivery, she was a bit sassy there.

That's what I felt too. You can see from the small smile on her face that she's playing with him there.

And I've been looking at a lot of trailer reactions, and every single one so far has been incredibly positive.Yes, there are a few who mention her voice and delivery, but keep in mind this is a two minute (thereabouts) trailer from what's going to be a two hour movie! Scenes are cut up and not allowed to flow as they were filmed and dialog is often cut and spliced to spruce up the trailer and keep the momentum fast and hard.

This is the same but the opposite in the way that people loved the JL trailers but hated the movie. It is only a trailer and not the movie itself. Wait to see the actual movie before we start complaining about line delivery and acting, when we haven't even seen any good example either way yet.

How could it be a 'course correct' if all they are doing is showing what had already been filmed..?

Ima go watch it again!:D:

At the very least, I feel it doesn't get to Brie Larson's head as quickly as it does Jennifer Lawrence who thinks superheroes are crap but she does like the money she's made from them (hence why she'd like in on another marvel role). I feel Larson's more of a geek than Lawrence. Heck, she's even expressed interest in playing Zero Suit Samus. Let's hope she's worth it.

Btw, I think the video should either show that grandma's true face or just open with another sequence because that will surely raise some parents' eyebrows. It looks like A young woman beating grandma up.That hurts Larson's rep.

She should aim to be more of a Sandra Bullock. I could see this role turning her into a bit of an American sweetheart.

I was ok with the trailer. The visuals look solid in most parts. Larson though somewhat bored and kind of bland. I am sure I will be proven wrong as I know she can act very well. Something is missing here though. I just didn’t feel that excited by it. I am confident though it will be a solid film.

I'm laughing hysterically at all the people who are seemingly underwhelmed and have made it a point to announce to the world they will be sitting this one out- like they're trying to start a movement. I'm sorry to report another movement with real momentum is on a direct collision with you all.. it's the Marvel Fandom! This movie will do better than fine and clean up at the box office-- and don't be surprised if it's a critical hit too! At this point Marvel has earned my trust, so I couldn't be more psyched for this!!!

I think this is part of it too. a lot of people wanted others for the role and were disappointed Brie got the role and are now taking it out on her without giving her a chance. Its like they want her to fail, so they nitpick everything. Sadly no matter how good she is in the movie some are always going to be biased against her.

I had no problem with Brie until I saw how flat she is in actual footage

She’s coming out of binary form so it’s falling. I don’t get what the issue is. It’s a comic movie and she can fly and is a knee warrior. Lots of unbelievable things.
